Edit: I'm a bit unclear on what missiles a ML comes with... I know it says unlimited, but that doesn't make much sense to me? I was thinking about using the ammo 'rule of 3', but it has a Clip size of 8, so I'm going to add a couple and assume it has 4 Frag and 4 Krak

8 missiles for the soundstrike ML. All heavy weapons automatically come with a backpack supply rather than ammo clips unless otherwise specified.

Oh, that's right! Just had to go re-read the rules and blurbs for both weapons...

So to use the Marine minis as a point of reference, the Soundstrike is the full Devastator Squad ML with the big backpack full of missiles and the little autoloader arm thingy... whereas the Amourbane is a smaller one-shot bazooka anti-tank utility type weapon? (which makes sense when you look at how much less it weighs!)

Hmm, now I get why Mike was asking about whether he could actually carry the Soundstrike or not... it doesn't really make a lot of sense, does it? (I'm picturing trying to build a Techmarine mini with Servo-Arm, ML and big pack with loader arm, and it just looks... silly)

Hmm.

...

...

Ok, decision. I'm cool with people taking an Armourbane as a cheap backup type weapon. But a Soundstrike just doesn't make sense to me unless it is replacing your other gear (like Zidemi's Servo-Arm). If Mike would prefer to swap to an Armourbane, that's fine though.

Hope that logic seems reasonable to everyone?

In the past with heavy weapon techmarines (and jump pack characters with heavy weapons) i've run them with the standard three clips instead of a backpack, or three missiles in the case of an armourbane or soundstrike missile launcher.

Treating the backpack as a free but optional upgrade. So far no-one has gone the other way and run into battle dual-wielding backpack fed stormbolters :p

Actually, doesn't Váfri have some spare belt-room? I could hand off the boomtube to him, perhaps? What do you think @Urauloth?

Not a bad idea at all!

(Though maybe if Vafri and Azadth carry the launchers instead of Zidemi, then there won't be any worries of servo arms blocking missile tubes?)

Is that mounted on top of the cyclone?

Edit: Sorry, I probably worry way too much about stuff like this. It's just because DW Astartes carrying limits are so high that you can more or less take what you want, but I always try to picture what a mini would look like if I actually had to build it with all the gear I had taken? I'm cool with all the trappings and tools and grenades and whatever, cos you can just assume they all fit in pouches or wherever, but the big stuff should fit? I guess maybe it's a holdover from playing 40k/KT where WYSIWYG used to matter more?

Edit edit: and before anyone mentions it, yes Reynard carries a lot of stuff... but it's all small stuff that doesn't weigh much and would fit in his pockets!

Speaking of, I actually haven't quite decided about standard ammo for the game. Does anyone have any thoughts about whether the rule of 3 is a good/bad/indifferent thing?

I see no problems with it, it is a convenient and simple short hand. Even in the games here where we had tight ammo count (and I tent to personally track all my ammo anyway)  I don’t think we ever have run out of normal ammo, only ever very specialist stuff.

Nah man, this right here is common sense.

Carry weight is for shifting stuff, encumbrance should be for ease of access to your requisitioned crap!

I see my choice has created some debate. My query was more in regard to the servo-arm/loader arm interaction. The ammo supply is supposed to be an adaption for a “standard” power pack, but it could be argued that a Techmarine’s is not standard…

So for simplicity, I will instead take the Armourbane ML (again assuming all other players are satisfied with their Reqs).

I’m happy with the rule of 3 for basic ammunition. That’s standard in my experience.

Brilliant! Ok in that case I think we're done for Req - except Moridyn and Vafri need to pick their free clips of SIA?

If you guys don't care which, Gerhardt has Kraken, Azadth has Stalker, so for variety I'll give Moridyn Hellfire and Vafri Metal Storm! (But do let me know or fill it in yourselves on the Req sheet if you do have a preference!)

And cool, if everyone agrees it makes sense, we'll use rule of 3 for standard ammo reloads.

Then tomorrow's update will introduce Alda to the group, sort out your transportation, and also deal with who will be Squad Leader (so if you want to start thinking about that one in advance, you can!)

@A.T.  I wasn’t sure by your post, but were you wanting to sit in the gunner seat? If Zidemi takes the gunner seat, you could use your own heavy bolter in addition to Zidemi’s in the gunner seat?

Ok, so is everyone happy with Gerhardt as squad leader? Seems like he's got enough support for it (and/or enough people who don't have a preference!) that we can call it done?

And if Moridyn takes the last spot on the LS, that puts Amaras on the third Bike, so hope Xin is happy with that...

I'm fine with a regular seat as I can dismount while Zidemi remains giving us two heavy weapons.
