I presume that while Alda is rushing back, those that are not in need of a Dreadnaught coffin are scouring the area to ensure no further greenskinned surprises down the road?

I bought the Auspex for that reason (although I was expected a combat encounter within the confines of the Ork ship), so I suppose for Narrative purpose can we say we scanned the wreckage and found no further trace of greenskins?

@Mazer Rackham Yep, as promised at the start I will be moving everyone on to Renown: Respected next time we do Req -but I guess if you are looking to SigW something, it might as well apply straight away? (or once you are back to the Bulwark at least?)

@Trokair @Mike Zulu Yep, I'll cover a bit more of this stuff with this week's update

@Urauloth go for it! :cool:

@Lord_Ikka Hmm. Cost for an Assault Marine is 500xp, cost for a Tac is 800xp, minimum cost for an Elite Advance is 750xp.

Ok, I'm going to set a cost of 1000xp (you can either view that as x2 for taking it from another Archetype table, or a 200xp premium for taking it early from your own tables).

However, because I'm a generous whatsit, if you want to take that Talent I will allow you to pay half now, and gain the ability... but obviously that means you won't have any xp to spend next time we finish a gaming session?

I'll take it- I still have 300XP from character creation, 800XP total with the 500 we just got, so that will put me into a deficit of 200XP I believe.

Very kind, GM, thank you indeed.

@Lysimachus - GM, did we not get extra Renown for Gerhardt's Mission Oath? IIRC it was Oath of the Emperor?

We shall eagerly await Gerhardt's reaction to the Codicier:cool:

Oath of the Endless Crusade, BT in HtC

And yep, considering that you'd normally earn maybe 4 or 5 Renown on a successful Mission, and the Renown Requirement for Respected starts at 20, I'd say I've given you one or two extra...

As to the second point... indeed. :ermm:

I was tempted by a battle servitor to carry my heavy bolter once I switch to a different weapon... sadly it's distinguished only.  What would be the requisition cost of a combat wheelbarrow?  :p

Though looking at first founding 500xp does get a generic lesser follower - much like the guy carrying Helbrechts gun for him.  A lesser 'gun polisher' is tempting...

Edited by A.T.

On the Req and XP front our GM has humbugged me a bit, since I was planning on hoodwinking him into an outrageous combination of filth, but the trinkets are calling....

Interesting, I'll have to go look this up, is it like followers in Black Crusade?

I am unsure if I have done a good or a bad thing...  What are you after, mate?

Kinda, I was toying with a pet Snow Leopard for a while.

Yes.

Gerhardt: "A... pleasure to meet you, Librariu-uuuhhh. Oh Emperor please no <dry heaves> URGH! <HORK>

Mercifully for Codicier Dendinius, Gerhardt, like the rest of the progeny of Dorn, lacks a functioning Betcher's Gland, and thus is spared permanent facial disfigurement via projectile vomit.

@Lysimachus I will take Exceptional Bionic Heart as my Specialty's free Cybernetic for crossing into Respected Renown.

I will, however, require 2D10-TB days (1 minimum) of rest for the procedure - since the max roll is 12, can I assume this won't conflict with our next mission?

(It's not clear which heart I replace (if not both). I guess I can choose either primary or secondary?)

I will also spend 400 XP on "Cleanse and Purify" (Salamanders Table), and bank the remainder.

@Mike Zulu Yeah, it's Necro's fault, blame (thank?) him!

I let Gerhardt take a Power Sword as SigWargear before I technically should have done, because it was a key thing for him to have as part of his character. And then I promised everyone else that (to be fair) I wouldn't leave it long before bumping you all up to the same level?

(To be honest, I also find what is available for Req at Renown Initiated to be a little on the dull side, so I do tend to move things on a bit quicker than the crb suggests? It does make it a longer wait to hit Distinguished, but I don't think that's a particularly bad thing)

And yep, I hadn't spotted that, but I guess Zidemi will indeed get a shiny new bionic!

Edit: ninja'd. Yep, no conflict - if Asterius has time to recover from being dead, Zidemi should be fine!  And I think you can pick either or both hearts, just a fluff decision, shouldn't change anything from a gaming perspective?

I agree, it feels needlessly restrictive. But there's plenty to work with at Respected so I'm okay with it.

In the past, I actually had a house-rule that you could get Requisitions one Renown higher than the Kill-Team's current Renown, but with an additional Req penalty (usually double).

I guess I will choose the primary heart, as that was my "human heart", which would make the secondary heart my... "Primarch's heart"?... Yes, let's go with that...

By the way, I took the liberty of rolling and got:

2D10-TB = 6+6-8 = 4 days of rest for Zidemi's Bionic Heart

@Lysimachus - There's one difference from a gaming perspective. A bionic heart gives Zidemi the Sprint Talent.

Sorry, to be clear, I wasn't saying that having a bionic heart didn't have any in-game effect. Obviously it does, +1TB and Sprint, like you said.

I was just saying it doesn't change anything by which of the 2 hearts (or even both) is replaced by the bionic, there is a level of freedom to choose how you want to fluff that detail?

Was sorely tempted to Sig Wargear the Camo Cloak, but the Master SWG effect is better used here.

XP Spend: Signature Wargear Rank 1 Gen SM Adv (20 Req Max):

Weapon: Stalker Bolter - 15 Req

Upgrade: Shot Selector - 2 Req

Total: 17 Req. 500 xp.

Very nice choice!

I miss Titus from Swordhand... between Bolter Mastery, Marksman, Exceptional, Mighty Shot, the Raptors Chapter Trapping gunsight, etc, etc, his Stalker Huntsman could hit more or less anything... and put a massive hole in it!

Edit: I just realised I could have used Titus in place of Aarval Skaayn as (reluctant) Watch-Captain. Though I suppose that might have caused temporal issues...

@Lysimachus I was thinking earlier today about how I could (and should) have built Helgrim differently in Blackthorn/Swordhand. Had I used the tac marine as a starting point instead of assault marine, I could have achieved a far more xp cost-effective build, not to mention the whole character would have functioned more properly as both a chaplain and (ironically) as a front-line shock trooper.

Alas.

Skirting both of those builds is difficult, because even though Characters may be different, it's all too easy to start looking the same due to Advance Tables and skill trees.

Thankfully, Titus and Atratus were Raptors, which helps a lot actually, as Azadth doesn't cookie-cutter into a sniper/marksman. The WS abilities really help to play on fire and manoeuvre.

It's easy to look at Chaplain, and think, yes high Str/Ag for hitting power and dodge, and forget the cheap advances in WP/Fel the Tac brings.
