CSM 10th edition Master of Execution

This is a topic about Master of Executions  in the 10th edition.

  • Do you use them?
  • How are you using them?
  • Do you think they perform well?
  • How do you equip them?
  • Do you attach them to any specific unit?
  • Is there a detachment that they are extra crucial?
  • Any Enhancements that you like to use with them?

Chaos Space Marine unit of the week links

I've used 'em in a lot of games since the Codex dropped. Their buffs and Axe of Dismemberment makes them both fun and effective units.

I run my Masters of Exection Barnabas and Decimus with full Legionaries or full Chosen Squads in Rhinos, usually in a Raiders detachment or a Dread Talon detachment. They are probably my 2nd most favorite HQ choice right now, with Chaos Lords being my favorite.

Fielded one while actually remembering his (and the legionaires squad he was with) special rules for the first time - there's a reason why that combo is a go to in tournament lists.  He makes a unit that is quite choppy into a unit that is very choppy and his ability to kill attached characters is very handy and something our army otherwise can struggle with.

Also great is being able to pair him with another character for a squad - personally I like to combine him with a sorceror, as it makes the unit a bit more resilient, its cheaper and the unit is probably potent enough in melee without a lord.  A transport also definitely helps him and his unit get where you want them in a condition to do what you need them to do there (which is kill stuff in melee).

Personally I think he's great in any detachment where you field melee legionaires or chosen - so, pretty much all of them.  I think he's as close to a staple as this codex gets this edition.
