I din't need a second heresy army... I  don't NEED it

But you want it…

I am very happy with is redesign in terms of the bodies but not quite sold on the helmets yet. But may just build my box a helmetless.

The new shield captain godly. Perfect mini as far as I’m concerned.

the vehicles are exactly what they should be: the resin ones but plastic. All perfect.

I am very very happy with this release!

I'm surprised they didn't also update the Jetbikes in this release, but I guess they need to save some Custodes stuff for when they do a range update for the non-custodes in the army so the bulk of Custodes only players still have something to spend money on.

I stopped collecting the custodes after the lazy and lame retcon.

But those sculpts are a massive step back. The proportions look off badly.

A major downgrade all round.

I don't like the retcon either, but these minis are simply beautiful. It reminds me of the glow up from 1st/2nd Edition Stormcasts to 3rd/4th edition

It is wild how different the proportions on these sculpts are compared to that Shield-Captain a while back.

Really nice miniatures, and all in plastic! The Shield-Captain clearly rocks, lot of details.

But it's me or the Custodes infantry look a little too slender...?

Not a fan of the new sculpts to be honest. They're a bit too busy and slim for me.

They are now a more Lore accurate "scaled up human" bodyplan as opposed to using the Spacemarine "Roid monster" bodyplan.

I think the proportions work myself; IIRC Custodians are clad in more advanced, form-fitting armour and are a smidge taller than Astartes, so this tracks. Also the art has usually depicted them with a more recognizable human shape than Marines if that makes any sense.

Can we use them for 40k?

Explicitly stated yes, along with confirmation that 40k Custodes are also getting something updated soon as well

...does anyone want to talk me out of getting an army of new Custodes..?

They are too slim, the reasons for which are...likely annoying?

Well, that's a shed load of new models to add to the stash......  Would not have been a first choice but having seen these, will have fun using the new Vellajo metallic range with them.

Even then the Venatari have a bit more bulkiness that looks right. Kinda feels like the Greek pillar concept for me. You never have them perfect because it just doesn't look right.

Not really.  The ‘body plan’ wasn’t the same as a marines on the original models anyway.

Claims of lore accurracy are also a red herring, the lore and art is too changeable to claim a definitive look.

For me though it’s more the leg change design and loss of decoration that is worse than the previous models, the slimness is ok.

When all your dudes are covered in bling, your commander NEEDS a tactical rock to show who’s in charge. Happy for all you Custodes people, the thread above suggests your ranks will swell. I guess I could get one, you know, as a kind of observer to hang out with some completely loyal Word Bearers.
