I still believe we will get a plastic Sisters range this edition, however, the book title 'Custodes: Forces of the Emperor' isn't exactly the most reassuring thing and I'm very interested to see if the huge range of Sisters units offered in the last edition with no model support will be retained. The only non-model unit I have is a Knight Abyssal so I'm not as invested as others but I really want to see some sign of life.

According to the rumour mill, the HH custodes range is getting a Full refresh.

As you will notice, the Sisters of Silence are part of the HH Custodes range.

So if the rumours are true, they are probably in production as we speak.

Adding a few more options to a sprue during a refresh doesn't invalidate an entirely different unit with a different role from being refreshed.

That line of thought would just be absurd.

I don't play custodes or usually have much interest in the faction, but these look fantastic. Much prefer them to the current plastic miniatures, might get the captain and dreadnought at some point just to paint.

Looking at some of the comments here and in other places, I see the same nonsensical complaints have showed up with them again....strange how there's just something about this particular thing that they find so egregious, but not all the other retcons...!

I don't think you understand, most of the Sisters units have never had models, there is nothing to refresh. So theoretically they could completely discard the concept and not even bother to give the unsupported 2.0 units legends rules, I don't think that will happen but it's not impossible. It depends entirely on what the model designers want to do going forward with the range.

They're taller even when ignoring the plume.

They've been stated to have rules in the main book, and we've seen from HH3.0 that rules in the main book means those rules have associated models.

So there should be some Sisters of Silence models coming along and it would be weird to refresh everything except them, y'know?

Probably the best sculpts they’ve done in years. Even better than Space Wolves. They literally walked off the collected vision pages. RIP to the people mad at the boobs, but I can’t be mad, just gonna stick a helmet on them and call it a day.

You're right and I'm certain we will get some Sisters of Silence models this edition, especially refreshes of existing models such as the Kharon. What I'm concerned about is the units such as the Silent Furies and Pursuers who have never had models and were dropped at the start of 3rd edition, I still personally believe we will get these units but right now they're in limbo and completely at the whims of the model designers.

I thought those got moved to the "Kitbash your own" PDF?

Don’t know about everyone else, but I’m hopeful that we see a new, not sucky version of valdor out of this. Never liked his current sculpt

I don't like it on account of the fact that they turned a male faction into a mixed faction, in order to check a box and hand certain kinds of people a scalp for having removed one more purely male thing. Now that I wrote the no-no opinion in plain English, can we just knock it off?

If you like the change, go ahead and like it. That is your right. But the world isn't going to implode because I or other people here don't think they needed to add chicks to a dude faction.

However, like I said in my other post, I do give GW some credit for actually coming up with a lore reason for what they did, and for acknowledging that people would have questions about it without being insulting towards people who might not like it. I was actually pleasantly surprised when reading that article. It is appreciated, and they deserve acknowledgement for doing it.

Completely agree.

I've never seen nor heard of that, I just know they don't exist in the current Talons of the Emperor rules PDF. I'm currently skipping 3.0 so apologies if there has been any recent changes but as far as I can tell they still don't exist in the current 3.0 play rules. Expanding the Sisters range to include those units would have brought me in but that's looking increasingly likely this year, and by that point it will be 4th edition by the time I've finished with my painting speed.

Considering the lead time on creating new models, I get the feeling that we got 10th Ed Codex that started this right after they locked in the designs for this refresh and moved to production.

This would line up with the previous statements that Female Custodes were originally rejected from the HH Lore solely on the basis that the models had already been made as all male.

If GW know internally that they're doing a Custodes refresh, why not circle back to that old request people seemed to like mentioning in discussions and approve it now they have an opportunity to update the models?

And then GW do what they do with all new Lore additions and basically say "40k is so big you didn't notice before, but they were there" because no-one expected to get a response any bigger than "Oh hey I get more head options now."

Coming from Transformers fandom, centered around a franchise that is 90 percent retcons by volume, I find all the whinging about retcons a bit rich. Might just be me, though.

A small price to pay for actually being taller than a Space Marine now

Not really.  Current Custodes height is fine.  NuCustodes plain legs are not.

It's the Legacies document.

Having just checked it out though, they're not in there.

Hopefully they do bring them back tho, since they have expanded that document heavily since HH3.0 launched.

It's disappointing there doesn't seem to be any trigger for the gun spears on the hafts anymore the previous range did. Yeah I know 40k shouldn't care about realism but at least put some effort into it are the gun parts just for show now or something

I think they're supposed to be twich-activated now, like the Terminator wristguns are, which combined with them being biometrically linked to their owner means you can't shoot the gun unless you are that specific Custodes

Oh wow they even made a statement about the female custodes debate in response to this

https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/kcuvmezh/new-custodes-your-questions-answered/Screenshot_2026-01-17-14-32-14-85_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.thumb.jpg.200e6873583bdcec9df1653b7d458c97.jpg

So we now have female custodes but  they still state there never will be female space marines,

Alright...so the real acid test: how many of these will get to have 40k rules vs. being a soft-removal to being 30k only things. Would love to see these for 40k and be a start at a breaking down of the garden walls between the games.

When they pulled a bunch of stuff from HH out of Space Marines, I believe they directly said that Knights, Chaos Knights and Custodes would be the exception where they hung onto the stuff.

I don't really see a reason for them to change that now with 11th fast approaching and 0 new Custodes units matching the new design philosophy native to 40k.

No.  That doesn’t mean it’s been taken over by the main studio, as in the 40k studio.

It’s all done by the specialist games studio.  Same people who were in the Forgeworld studio.  Of course their profile and importance has grown as Heresy has joined the big game league.  Of course they will align on the some things as 30k and 40k are related.

I didn’t call the main studio the 40K studio? I mean they’ve been brought in house as in Forge World we’re literally in a different building before and a much smaller department [Like had about 10 staff when heresy started] have now been moved and expanded within the business, with 30k being one of the 3 main game systems. I promise you they’ll be a lot more oversight from upper management these days as their budget has exploded and their release schedule has to now weave between 40K and AOS as they’re plastic releases. It’s naive to think that there won’t be. so me saying the Main studio IE “psychically moved into the main studio with everything that entails” stands

Those infantry models are a massive step back. Ridiculous.

I legitimately don't know if I've ever seen a post on here I've disagreed with more.

For me, these are leagues above the old ones. Wonderful even on their own, but the contrast to the stubby old ones, which always looked to me more like Dwarfs cosplaying as Custodes than anything, is night and day.

Insane glow-up, my God-Emperor. These make me want Custodes just for how much better they are than before.

I was confused why this topic was so much longer than the others but now I realize why.

The models are gorgeous. Fortunately for me, I spent a fortune on my Custodes army already, so I think I’ll settle for the lady shield-captain. For now.
