The whole "keep the ranges sepperate" argument also dont hold much water since they did redo terminators. Now get me their iconic ride already - get to it GW. Karhedron
I gotta say, the LR kit has held up really well over the years. When new, it basically the defined the slabbed, layered armoured look that defines the Marine STC look. Could GW do something better after 25 years of progress with injection moulding? Maybe. But that iconic design still looks great to me. mel_danes, Evil Eye, Gorgoff and 6 others 1 5 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387821-valrak-2026-release-rumours-video/page/24/#findComment-6172456 Share on other sites

Maybe make it 20% bigger so it looks mighty next to the indomitus terminators the biggest issue with a rework is that it’s going to go from £57 for the basic to probably £80 Marshal Mittens, Interrogator Stobz, phandaal and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387821-valrak-2026-release-rumours-video/page/24/#findComment-6172462 Share on other sites

Considering what they did with Terminators I am fully on board with GW updating the Land Raider and I own like 6 of them, I trust that they will keep the iconic look of the model just like they did with Terminators. When they do update the kit I hope they come up with new sponsons or variants, you could easily split it like Siege Land Raider (Crusader, Redeemer, Prometheus) and Support Land Raider (Phobos, Excelsor, Helios). Nephaston
I wouldn't mind a slight redesign of the front/hatch area, to plausibly permit two terminators to stride through it side by side without crouching, cause otherwise it could be twice the size before that's the case. Evil Eye
The visual aesthetic/design language of the Land Raider is fantastic. Shame the thing barely lines up anymore after decades of production, and as mentioned the assault ramp could do with a bit more clearance. And then there's the nonsensical interior... That being said, I don't think the tank itself needs to be much bigger. It's already a huge vehicle, and realistically it's just the assault ramp that needs a higher roof to make it look more plausible on the table rather than inflating the entire tank. And, y'know, even historicals tend towards representative scale/deliberate undersizing for vehicles so expecting true-scale would be a bit silly. I'll say I'd like to see a new Land Raider have some more weapon options but not be fundamentally changed at the base level; put the parts to build it as a standard Phobo-pattern, a Prometheus, a Terminus Ultra and maybe a Helios in there, but don't add any extra "compulsory" weapons such that the old one becomes completely obsolete. I'm still mildly annoyed they decided to slap a hull-mounted heavy bolter on the Immolator and Exorcist where there wasn't one before. irlLordy
I don't think they can make the Land Raider much bigger without it moving into Spartan size territory though? Orange Knight
The Landraider has indeed stood the test of time. The size of the vehicle is also generally good. I actually built and painted one recently (even shared some pics on this forum) and despite the kit being old and wonky, an experienced hobbyist can get it fully assembled, and once painted it looks very good. A redesign could make it a bit bigger, but even a refreshed kit that simply looks a bit more jazzed up and actually comes together properly will be a win. This is my new Landraider (I used bits from my 30k Ultramarines to make the bolter and hunter killer look a bit more unique): Gorgoff, DemonGSides, Marshal Mittens and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387821-valrak-2026-release-rumours-video/page/24/#findComment-6172472 Share on other sites

This is the main thing that makes me want an update to both the Land Raider and the Rhino. The newer HH tank kits are a delight to build, gimme that for 40k too. Well, that and also the possibility of Chaos getting either a new vehicle upgrade sprue to go with the new kits, or even unique Chaos tank kits this time around. Maybe. If they're feeling adventurous. Interrogator Stobz
Whilst they're hypothecically upgrading the LR to be nicer to build, slightly larger, with more weapon options (no stubbers), and creating a bunch of neat Chaos gods armour plates.... they can surely rustle up some archaic/gothic/psychic protection looking Grey Knight armour plates to go with it. Surely. The new upsized GK Termies (That we Know are coming soon, right James Workshop??? Right???) will need to ride in style. Be a shame to miss that opportunity. Grey Knights are getting a range refresh. The Land Raider is currently a linchpin for both Codexes's non-resin "big" vehicle options. A recut Land Raider, with a distinct weapon sprue per LR using faction weapons (plus required to complete the model faction unique panels) would make sense. Update's the model, removes the universal nature of kit (easier tracking for GW, forces distinct purchase instead of 1 kit for three factions), and leans into faction unique weapons and decorations. NothingHere
I really hope they don't upscale the tanks. I honestly don't think they need it, and have historically always been undersized to accomodate the tabletop aspect. The Landraider frankly would be unwieldly if it was any bigger. The whole "primaris are bigger" thing seems to be falling to the way side as time goes on, so even less incentive to make them bigger. I also would rather my baal predators not look silly next to a new Rhino, lol. Interrogator Stobz
Yeah, my preference would be to keep it the same size or a tiny bit bigger like the TDA upgrade (barely noticeable when not side by side), so my 6 others don't feel OOP. But a remodel with new gubbinz would be very nice. If they nail it, and nail the TDA GKs they can have my Hobby money for the next couple of years as I make a new army. Interrogator Stobz
And the sponsons need to be at the back. The really dangerous stuff is inside, delivery is key. Antarius
It's always a bit difficult to say for certain, but I'm pretty sure it's not just force of habit that makes me go very firmly "no" to the turret look for the LR. I mean taste is obviously very subjective, but part of the appeal of the LR is that it doesn't look exactly like all the other tanks, while sharing the same design language. Also, and I know how this is going to sound, but a tank can have too many guns for its size. This is also one of my gripes with some of the Primaris vehicles (although realistically speaking, I just don't like them because they don't look like "real" SM tanks to me).
