I've shared access to a folder with IG Sheets for everyone who has expressed an interest so far.

Between that and the 2nd post in this thread, I think everyone should be able to start filling in their choices?

Maybe first though, you could each put a quick post here with your basic choices (Homeworld, History, Archetype) and an idea of who your character is? Doesn't have to be a full bio post (we'll sort a separate thread for that), just something to give everyone an idea of which options have been taken and which haven't?

Edit: I've used the email addresses I already had, if you need a different one added, please shoot me a PM?

Hmm. Thinking up something, tell me if it works - not super up to date with what the Iron Gods are (I believe the original game was before I discovered the PBP area).

Hive World

Savage

Assault - I'm thinking of possibly trying to trade in the Jumppack/Piloting for something else, idea is a Night Lords/Alpha Legion style shadowy scout/assassin rather than a bellowing drop-assault fighter. Maybe in Scout armor...

May switch up for an apothecary as we have several tacticals and no healing. Haven't tried one before.

Apothecaries are pretty groovy on the Charstat adv table. They hardly have anything expensive, good Lore and Ints, some nice choices on the Rank tables. They remind me a lot of the Jedi Sentinel Class in KOTOR 2.

As for me:

Feudal, Plotter, Librarian.

Psy Powers: Avenger, Smite, Iron Arm.

That sounds workable to me. Tacs get the opportunity to take Scout armour, Assaulters don't as a rule but I'd be ok with it? Would have to figure out the swap of JP (+ Assault Marine rules) into something more appropriate, but we can sort something!

As to the Iron Gods, I'd recommend having a read through of the Index Traitoris article to give you an idea of who they are and what they're up to.

At the bottom of the page are links to a couple of short stories and additional articles, but they aren't essential.

Likewise, reading through the whole previous game is a bit much to ask, so suffice to say that at the end of the Plunder game the Iron Gods recovered the Pride of Kings, a Heresy era Battlebarge/Forgeship - chock full of power armour, weapons, vehicles, and genetic laboratories for creating new Astartes.

Fast forward 4-5 years to the current setting, and the new player characters are the first generation of 'home-grown' Astartes created and armed from the Pride.

Their main weakness seems to be the complete lack of combat skills outside of chapter tables. One attack, one reaction, no bonuses until at least rank 6, no two-weapon fighting, and no double-dipping on the apothecary abilities. So almost all XP into raw stats.

Diagnostor helm + Stalker Boltgun.

We can pick up to Respected....maybe that can help?

On saying that, I have my eye on an Astartes combat shotgun. Just don't know if I want to spend Sig Wargear on it....

Honestly, I reckon the choice between the boltgun and the shotgun is more of a flavour pick, so if you want to swap to that, I'm cool with it? Shotgun feels appropriate, too, for new Astartes recruits?

Is it the DW Shotgun or the RoB super Shotgun?

Valid point.

Yeah, that offer only applies to the standard one, which I would say is pretty equivalent to a bolter.

The ability to Full Auto (with Scatter) makes the RoB one quite a bit better.

Appreciate the offer of swap, but yes, it's the assault shotgun, 7 Req, Full Auto 5.

If I SGW it, I can get it at Exceptional, plus a shot selector, but I lose out on Willpower 60....decisions, decisions.

Probably not bother TBH. Got a flamer and lightning gun, so there's that. Need to use the bolter as buyback for the JP when the time comes...

@Xin Ceithan - Are you working on the 2nd Librarian?

It’s WiP.
Along with cheap, portable cold fusion

Which , sadly, is to say, don’t feel like you have to wait on me to start a game.

I’m looking into this but it progress is rather slow.

I love sharing stories with you folks but I try to learn from past missteps and rather watch from the sidelines than turning this into another Age of the Placeholder :ermm:

FYI - SR Adepts - as in Shadowrun Magic / Mana Aspects

So, no Alpha Legion involvement.
None.  None at all :whistling:

@Xin Ceithan don't sweat it, I've got no plans to start this in June (or July, probably) so there's loads of time for putting things together.

But yep, in the event you need to, you can slot in later?

@Mazer Rackham

Blimey, I hadn't thought of how high you could push stats when you allow allocating! Starting at Wp60 is pretty serious!

However, you might struggle to get that Jump Pack straight away... Req will be low, and I'm considering not allowing the sharing of Req as you aren't exactly a 'united team' at this point... (that might be going too far, I dunno... Maybe require a Fel test in order for a PC to pinch extra Req from their teammates, or something like that?)

Side point: if you don't mind, I'd prefer the Per box not to include the bonus for HS? I know there aren't many situations where it won't apply, but you can guarantee I'll forget to take it off if one of those situations does arise! )

In that case I will have a look at a Libby Build too.

Can I get it from the go with SGW?

Posted (edited)

Given our sparse starting req., I'm tempted to grab a combi-tool or mutli-key with SGW, or *grins evilly* perhaps a breaching augur, preferably one mounted on a separate mechadendrite limb from the servo-arm?
