Task Force Armageddon

Koyote

Recommended Posts

I added some additional iconography. The holes where the engine intake meets the wing have been filled. Hinges have been added to the rear/bottom hatch. The gaps around the cockpit have been sealed. I also added an additional piece to the rear of the gunship so that area doesn't look so plain. Call it a dreadnought interface module.

Aside from primer and paint, this model is ready to go.

I drilled holes in the plasticard to match the rivet holes on the parts from the Valkyrie kit.

i like the stormraven except for the underslung assault cannon. This simply doesn't seem feasable since it has an assault ramp on the front. Landing gears aside, that is my only gripe. With assault cannons, you will want those to be able to still fire at the guys to the left and right or way out in front as your guys come barreling out the front door. My best advice would be to remount them up near the cockpick on each side of the nose like area. This would allow it to fire forward and give those troops assaulting a nice coverfire or blanket of bullets to soften up targets out in front.

hey i know it was mentioned earlier in the thread and you were using reference of an old world war 2 era plane that had an under the belly gun. I can see the under the belly gun working if it wasn't for the assault ramp that basically blocks the shots is all. Was only offering a valid reason to why it looks out of place due to the face that the storm raven is suppose to be an assault vehicle as well as a gunship.

Im glad this thread was brought back to life with the dark arts.

Was a beautiful couple of hours following this thread through roughly 4yrs of gaming, codexs and 40k editions.

Love the painting style and how this post evolved.. :D .

Could a quick recap of painting methods and all the good info be reposted in a single reply, although it was good following the post through the years a quick and up to date FAQ would also be handy.. ? :) B) . You have inspired me to start my own BA army and a quick reference for a 'how to do BAs' would definately be appreciated.

Will be checking this post for updates as much as I can, one of the best things I've found on this forum for a long time (used to be a moderator in ages past  ).. I dont suppose youve thought about doin your own blog ? I know I for one would be a avid follower.

'Blood for the blood god!' I mean yeah go Blood Angels ;) .

Bomma, thank you for the kind words.

It pleases me that this thread continues to provide entertainment for my fellow gamers.

I am also pleased to read that I have in some small part inspired another player to join the ranks of the sons of Sanguinius. PM me when you post photos of your own army. I would like to see it progress.

Also, if your new army needs a Stormraven... I am auctioning this first Stormraven model on eBay. A poor law student has to eat after all. :)

Sorry, no blog for me. I am too busy to even paint models on a regular basis so I have no idea how I would find time to regularly post on a blog. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

OOOh - is it gonna get the Koyote paint job first?

Or you gonna sell it like that?

No paint. This way the buyer can paint it in a color and shade that matches his army's paint scheme.

Besides, since DC and a DC Dread are its principle cargo, my Stormraven is going to be painted black, in a Death Company scheme. :)

The man has a point - suspension of disbelief or not, the ass-cannon will get crumpled when the vehicle lands, be vulnerable to ground fire, and be totally useless when it's needed most, ie when the ramp's down and disgorging troops.

You should stick to arguing about rules and let someone else design our aircraft. A Canadian maybe... ;)

ps - I can see the wire holding up your fairy

@Mort: Hell no! Wings in the back looks terrible!

Mort, if you want to buy some Koyote paint, you can bid on my Mordheim Averlander warband HERE. :P

@Jazz: I am going to file your comments in the same file with people who argue that all Space Marines models should be wearing helmets. It's a game. I play it to escape reality, so in 40K my motto is form over function.

Here is my WIP Death Company Dreadnought. The right shoulder and shin plates have been left bare so I can adorn them with red saltires. I have used Forgeworld arms to represent its blood talons. Each talon has been shaped with a hobby knife to give it a slight crescent shape. Both arms are held on by magnets.

Also, for those familiar with Ork biology, my choice of bits on the base will have some significance for you.

Each Forgeworld arm includes a stormbolter. And as you can see from this FW photo the stormbolter is intended to fit under the Dreadnought's hull.

I don't care for how this looks, so I modified the stormbolter and attached it to the Dreadnought's under arm. I much prefer this configuration. Also, according to the BRB a weapon destroyed result destroys both the ccw and any other weapon built into the arm, so this allows me to remove both weapons together.

The melta gun for the right arm is made from a SM hunter-killer missile bit and the barrel of a plastic melta gun. Again, I attached it to the Dreadnought's under arm.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have Blood Angel themed objective markers for my army (SEE post #333), however, since not everyone bothers to make objective markers for their own army, I have prepared a number of objective markers to suit any occasion. These kinds of diorama objective markers are not only fun to make, but creating them lets me incorporate models and bits from armies and collections that I don't, and will probably never own. Even better, once I am finished the markers, I get to play with and show off these models rather than leaving them on your shelf to collect dust.

...where did you dig the old coven Magus mini out from?

I recently purchased this model from a seller on eBay. My original intention was to put him on a base with either a Blood Angel Terminator Chaplain or Librarian. However, once I switched to Mephiston as my HQ choice, I had to find a new use for the little guy. :P
