WIP Heresy Era World Eaters

captain fuzzball :No problem. :tu:

I use GS for my minis.

Moribund the Burgermeister: Thanks mate. Yeah, 2mm spacer in the greeves and another between the torso and the groin to stretch the proportions a little. I'm not sure if they are really true-scale, just a bit bigger than your average Astartes. ;)

Quick update...

This is an early prototype version I've knocked together out of bits I had lying around (I'll probably sculpt the final model from scratch because the Catachan model he's based on is just too tall) of my Remembrancer, Varden Thrace.

Varden has been "adopted" by the members of the third Devastator squad as an unofficial good luck charm. His uncanny ability to spot trrouble has earned him the nickname of "Thrice" or "Thrice Blessed" from Sergeant Voss after he has prevented the squad from walking into several ambushes in recent battles.

In game terms Thrice counts as an Auspex.

I want to make the final model a lot smaller to emphasis the sheer size of the Astartes in comparrison to a normal human. Eventually I see him carrying several packs containing equipment to document the chronicles of the World Eaters as he makes an entry into a data slab and maybe a pict viewer around his neck. Thought it'd be a nice way to add a little character and narrative to the unit. :)

A remembrancer with the world eaters? Wait till the other legions hear about this!

Just kidding, fantastic mini, I do agree though he is rather tall. Make sure to make some other remembrancers to go with him, it'd be a shame if he didn't have anyone with whom to get drunk and vandalize your battle barge. B)

Also I think the center tasset on your Captain?/Sergeant? would benefit greatly from the addition of tiny rivets. For really small rivets I use .025" plasticard rod and dice it up.

Here's a shot of how the small rivets look: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d180/sto...es/DSCN0281.jpg

Well, that's what really matters! B)

any news? i finally started on my BA's wooo, im really looking forward to seeing how this lot comes out, should be amazing! (did you manage to measure the termi groin guard thing?) also, you said on a different forum your building a fellblade?! you have the FW baneblade model i assume? what are you planning to do to it? also same about LR and any landspeeders? will it all get slightly biggersized?

Cheers guys!

Blindhamster: Great stuff, just remember to post some pictures if you get the chance. I am indeed working on a Fellblade, I originally tried to scratch build it but it's going to take ages so I'm going to just get the FW Mars pattern Baneblade and alter it slightly.

I've just got my hands on the Pre-Heresy Landraider and have decided that I just going to paint it rather than hack it to pieces like everything else. I will be scaling up the landspeeder though.

Captain Loken: Thanks for the link mate. I'm going to rivet the armour plate asap. I will probably make a couple of them to represent different pieces of wargear for the characters and C.O.D. Strategem markers. I have to sculpt the first one though and see if it's practical to do more.

Kinda getting too many ideas for models and need to focus on the troops first.

Speaking of getting distracted here's an early MkIII dread I've just started...

Heavy Bolter protoype (not sure about this one though...)

I like the heavy bolter guy. Especially love how you're using the vintage bits in conjunction with the new.

Second Lascannon Marine

Hehehe... For some reason, I can imagine the bare-headed las guy yelling "GET OFF MAH LAWN, YEH HOOLIGANS!!!"

any updates? really looking forward to seeing more painted WE's! and that dread... its jus soooo sexy man I really want to know how you made it so much bigger!

on another note... i have one PH BA all but finished HUZZAH! (pics soon)

Yeah, I'm still hard at work on these guys. I've just base coated the Dreadnought and will try and see if I can knock together some instructions on how to big him up whilst putting together the second one I'm working on. :)

Great to hear that you've finished your first PH BA, look forward to seeing the pictures. :)

Quick question though, what is a Fellblade?

The Fellblade is a pre-Heresy tank found in The Horus Heresy art books, specifically a Baneblade varient (or it might even be the original combat prototype) that was used by Marines.

After the Heresy and the breakdown of the Legions into the Chapters we know now there has been nothing since then, the Land Raider is the biggest tank, the MBT if you like, of the Loyalist Marines.

Stands to reason the Traitor Legions still have some kicking around, even if they're possessed to Hell and gone. It fits with the Iron Warriors especially, I reckon they'd have a few of them. Hey! A Greater Daemon possessed Fellblade! What a damn fine model that'd make!

**rushes off to make sketches**

Really great marines you have put together here, enjoyed reading through that thread from the start, seeing the ideas take off. Like the Catachan head use too, in fact I'm going to go file off some bandanas right now! One comment though: Please, no more pointing arms :P .

I second the Khârn question. Make him...make him now!

BL

Thanks guys!

Maladon: I just might have a crack at him, after I've finished the Angron sculpt I'm working on right now.

Brother Lysander: Don't worry mate, there are only two of the marines that are pointing the captain and the lascannon marine. The heavy bolter and missile launcher are the lascannon marine but I just wanted to see which worked best.

Quick update so that Danius Smithe's head doesn't explode...

Second stage paint coat dred (love the way digicams pick up every darn imperfection you can't see normally...mutter...grumble...revenge soon...)

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/SpaceMarines001.jpg

I've shortened the A.Cannon and added the Eye of Terra instead of the Aquila

Sons of Horus WIP (just started to sculpt the head details but bit blurry)

Possible Emperor's Children Sergeant

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/SpaceMarines004.jpg

I've finished building the first two squads, I'll post pictures when I'm nearer to finishing the paint jobs.

still pretty cool stuff fella. loving the work to be honest. if i wasnt working on my red hunters on a tight budget i might have to start a PH force as well. (maybe fists if i ever do)

also have you considered some of the other helmet varients shown in the HH art books? such as the ultramarine hemets that look like the new black templar dread from fw?

the las cannon lawn gaurdian has a cool head, where did that come from?

cant wait for the fellblade

cheers

millest

Doghouse that dread is looking amazing! im also loving the WIP son of horus, nice helm idea, however the emperors children marine seems a little... i dont know something seems not so fab with him... i think maybe a smaller round sheild might be better?

right time for me to finally post those pictures i said about  (before anyone starts to tell me off for hijacking, im not i got doghouses permission to post these beforehand along with progress as it goes (should keep this thread alive longer if more than one person posts WIPS )

So i now have three of my PH Blood Angels complete on the building front, they are in various stages of painting with none of them complete... the one without the helmet was the first one i did, which is why he looks a bit more sloppy on the conversion (call him a test).

they are going to be basic marines for my first tactical squad (just need a name) planning to equip the sergeant with a bolter and power sword. Each member uses Doghouses height increase technique (one day i want a game against you mate ) and also were re-posed to be in charging positions (to show furious charge).

the first is a group shot of my first three minaiture heros

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/PH/PICT0074.jpg

then some individual images

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/PH/PICT0076.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/PH/PICT0077.jpg

some of the freehand id planned to do (all will get stuff like this but each shall be different)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/PH/PICT0078.jpg

a shot next to my (very short looking ^_^)imperial army sniper and veteran

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/PH/PICT0080.jpg

i'll be doing 2 more for this squad for now, then 5 with Bpistols and CCWs (using take the fight to them) and a HQ of some sort, then i'll go back add the 5 more to each squad and an assault squad ^_^

comments?

Really nice work on both sets of models

Doghouse: Can't wait to see the Angron sculpt, how far through is it?

Also how big do you plan to make the army?

Blindhamster: Really nice freehand work there, you've tackled the red on their armour really well.

Blindhamster: Fantastic job, great movement in those marines, easily the best BA's I've ever seen. How are you doing the armour on them? I really like how it's turned out, might have to make a few myself!

Doghouse: I love your true-scalers, both the original DA's you did and these new ones. Can't help but think the legs need some smoother GS'ing though, try putting a smooth layer on, then make a milliput "wash" (basically mix up some milliput with a fair bit of water and smooth it over the GS, it fills all the small gaps in the GS making it uber smooth), and then give the whole area a sanding with some really fine grain wet/dry paper.

Keep up the good work lads!
