WIP Heresy Era World Eaters

Thanks guys! <_<

Chaplain Desmodus : Thanks mate! I said it was ok for Blindhamster to post his pics here so we can work together on our armies and I amended the topic title. :blush:

I was going to make Khârn originally in a more agressive pose but it just looked like a regular PH marine captain. This way it's a bit of a nod to the original JG sculpt. :)

Rau le Creuset: Basically it gives me several armies for the price of one. I can use either Khârn or Varren or both in Pre-Heresy battles. In Heresy Era battles I can use Khârn and have them as Traitors or use them as loyalists during the Istvaan III with Varren in charge. It just makes them a little bit more flexible fluffwise. :)

CM Dante: I am thinking of including skulls on the model as it was noted in the background material that skull taking was a frowned apon pratice but still happened with the WE I believe. I'm toying around with the idea of having embossed skulls on the knees, not sure yet though. I'll decide after I've cleaned up the face first.

On the subject of the "ears" I not not going to use them on this model. The main reason being that this is supposed to be pre-corruption so I want to get away from the beserker image if possible.

However having said that it is highly possible that Khârn proved to be the inspiration for the change in helmet following the heresy as he was seen as the chosen of Khorne so the "ears" could possibly still be used.

Quick Update

I'm starting to flesh out the model a bit now. As I've retrodesigned the model I've had to think about where the elements of the Chaos version come from.

I'm replacing the chains that hang from between his legs with tassles (they'll be evened up a bit when finished), the helmet once completed will have a skull-like quality to it and the screaming skull around his waist has been replaced bya more Imperial skull. The idea is that as first captain his armour is slightly more ornate than the others and the warping influence of chaos exagerates the details when he becomes the betrayer.

He's still very rough but starting to take shape now. :P

Cheers guys! :rolleyes:

Another quick update

Just need to clean up the face, finish off the service studs on the sides of his helm, clean up the pistol and I can paint him. ;)

Great stuff Doghouse, so refreshing to see another take on a famous 40K name. The helmet reminds me of the one Maximus wears in the film Gladiator, minus all the spikes. Looking forward to seeing where you take it next.

Can I ask how you went about doing the cables on the helmet and plasma pistol? I'd really like to borrow that look for a plastic librarian I'm currently planning :blush:.

@Blindhamster: Feels like you're hijacking Doghouse's thread, might not want to continue doing that, thanks.

/agree

Anyhow... Wow.. some awsome minis bro, they really give me the preheresy feeling, dont listen to what others say, just go with what your heart and mind want, that's really what matters brother.

From this Im tempted to start my own PH army. Im curious to see if you do any Jumppack troops, now that'd be interesting..

Doghouse mate, loving the way Khârn is coming out! seriously nice mini, and your GS work as always is inspirational to say the least! (cant wait to see him painted mate :P)

hows the second dread going Doghouse? and those WIP sons of horus/emperors children? (and i wana see painted WE's :P!)

@Neph:, thanks, im glad they were of some inspiration, and like i said, all kudos for the way its done and the idea go to Doghouse as he in turn was my inspiration. *bows to Doghouse

<eidted by me>

removed stuff not needed cuz well, its somewhat sorted now.

in defense of those that said you hijacked the thread they said it felt like. they didn't say you did. while permission was given and the title was changed this doesn't change how some people might feel. otherwise your both doing great miniatures and I look forward to updates on both armies as both armies have inspired me to true scale my nightlords so expect many PM's from me in the near future asking questions on your process, materials and so on
Doghouse mate, loving the way Khârn is coming out! seriously nice mini, and your GS work as always is inspirational to say the least! (cant wait to see him painted mate B))

to Chap Des and now GeneralStukov... id like to swear and throw insults for the lack of reading BEFORE commenting but nevermind, i dont want to do something where id actually have a reason to get jumped on... check my first image post, i specifically say that i asked permission and was given it, to post my models here, as im doing them the same way as Doghouse is (as hes the inspiration) not only that, but since i have, HE changed the thread name slightly, without me asking to point out my models were also in here, AND hes later said HIMSELF that it was fine and that I asked... so please a little bit of thought in future? (I did send Des a PM about it, as i was a little irritated that a mod would post like that without reading..)

anyway back on topic, hows the second dread going Doghouse? and those WIP sons of horus/emperors children? (and i wana see painted WE's :D!)

<edit>

@ Neph: as i dont want to clutter the thread with lots of posts on the subject, reading Des' post, its written in a pretty insultin way, yes i know it says feels like, but then saying 'might not want to keep doing that thanks' its... well just a bit unfair, if people were really that bothered wouldnt it have been better to PM me instead?complaining at all was unwarrented as permission WAS given, so there really was no point commenting on it in public at all (other than to try and make me feel bad/annoyed) anyhow, thanks, im glad they were of some inspiration, and like i said, all kudos for the way its done and the idea go to Doghouse as he in turn was my inspiration. *bows to Doghouse*

Des is a 'Custodes', but is carrying on one of the the B&C mod traditions (I'll let you work out what that is yourself :) )

I can't believe how cool his face looks. Excellent GS-work! You said you still have to clean up the pistol, does that include adding those little vents? Right now it seems a bit bland IMHO B) ...

As for the other guys and girls: let's get this back on topic. If you experience problems with either Frater or staff, please take it up with one of the moderators responsible for the forum, or with the admins. Littering a perfectly good thread with this doesn't do any good for anybody.

Thanks guys! :eek

Getting back on topic... ;)

Tagsta: Excellent model mate, really loving the jump pack and the inclusion of the tassles is a really nice touch. Nice work on Gorechild as well. :D

Ok, this is an extremely WIP shot of Angron to give you some idea of where I'm going with the piece and some insight into his construction. Rather than go for the static leader pose I normally go for I'm trying to capture the savagery of the character. At the moment I'm concentrating on getting the proportions right but he should be stalking/running across the battlefield swinging a huge chainaxe.

+++Edit+++

Brother Lysander: Nice and easy one that, guitar strings mate.

Slightly OT (possibly?), aimed at Doghouse; would you be able to show a new marine terminator against one of the Taller marines? As I am thinking of extending the legs of the Marines in my Iron Warriors but I want terminators aswell and don't know whether theyd look too small
despite what the new artwork shows, he used a great rune sword =D

false gods says that he used one or two huge axes and wore 2 archaic plasma pistols on his belt...

the GS framework looks promising...

If someone can do a primarch that rocks, it's got to be doghouse...

Finish him as soon as possible..

a scale pic would also be appreciated ^^
