Iron Warriors

Here are some of the starting models i have for my iron warriors army. They are mostelly mkIII armour marines with the choasen wearing mkIV armour and the caracters are all kitbashed (well not the event only forge world model).

These 2 are my first HQ units a forge world event only model i use as a chaos lord and a kitbashed warpsmith. The warpsmith was made from a tech priest from the skitarii start collecting box a mkIV chest ,a mkIII set of legs and head and a grey knight blackpack wich i forgot the name of the teleporting one with the 4 things sticking out of it.

These are just some marines, 3 squad leaders and a heavy bolter guy.

http://i.imgur.com/l55clhk.jpg?1

These are my chosen. These are just mkIV marines with the plasma that came with them and the mkIII plastic marines sprues the squad leaders axe i made from a chaos terminator axe head and the staff bit from the GW zombies kit pitchfork.

Thousand Sons

These are my Primaris Thousand Sons they are just the primaris marines from the 8th edition starting box with some light conversions.

At the moment i only have the captain and the lieutenant converted.

http://i.imgur.com/1HmG66K.jpg?1

The captain in gravis armour is now a libarian with a force stave (i hope this will be legal in the future primaris codex) and its made form the captain in gravis armour and the ariman sprue from the burning of prospero (wich i have 2 many of so i am gonna use that spue a lot). The lieutenant with a powersword just has the blade from his power sword changed to the kopesh bit from ahrimans 30k staff. the last lieutenant does not have any conversions yet so if you have any idea's post them below!

Thousand Sons

Here is a pic of the test model i have for the colours of this army.

I just finished the copper on that round thingy on the backpack. It is a base of mashut copper then a wash of 50% lahmian medium and druchii violet then some edge highlighting with fulgurite copper.

Let me know what you guys think!

Hey mate,

great to see how you've followed through with your plan of joining the forum after our meeting at Amsterdam last weekend! I hope this community will be as helpful to your hobby as it has been to mine!

As for your models, I still think that Primaris Captain conversion is pretty clever -- even though, as a relic from the 2nd edition era, I will admit I still need to get my head wrapped around both the concept of the Primaris Marines and the teased possibility of "loyalist Traitor Legions" ;) Be that as it may, I shall look forward to seeing more of your models.

I also really like the AdMech Dominus bitz on the Techmarine -- quite a quick and effective way of converting a Techmarine/Master of the Forge archetype!

Looking forward to seeing your next update! :)

Iron Warriors

So i wanted an apothecary in mkIII armour of my iron warriors for some fluff reason but i didnt want to spent any money buy buying a new kit or bitz so i make one entiarlly from bitz i already had so here he is:
http://i.imgur.com/5poRsRx.jpg?1

I am pretty happy with him. He are some more pic of him:

http://i.imgur.com/CxtiXWU.jpg?1http://i.imgur.com/WerdikH.jpg?1

his narthecium is made from a chainsword thingy for a chainfist from some horus heresy era terminator and the little drill comes from one of the things you can stick on the front of your dunecrawler (wich i am converting to a defiler) His backpack is another grey knights backpack like the one i used on my warpsmith (they are awesome conversion backpacks i stole the idea from KrautScientist thx buddy) and i just stuck al kind of things to it so it looks like he can carry fluids. Also an fallen mkIII marine on the base (yay another 30k ahriman sprue losing bitz)

I also wrote some rules to use him in a game of 40 on the chaos side here they are:

Chaos Apothercary Elite 5 Power

M WS BS S T W A Ld Sv
6" 3+ 3+ 5 4 4 3 8 3+

Weapons: Bolt pistol, Chainsword, Frag grenades and Krak grenades

Abilities:

Death to the False Emperor (Index Chaos pg. 10)
Sigil of Corruption: 4+ Inv save
Dark Narthecium: At the end of the movement phase the Chaos Apothecary can try to heal or revive a single model from a unit.
To do this select a friendly Chaos Infantry or Chaos Biker unit. Roll a D6 on the roll of a 1 the apothercary deals one mortal wound to the unit. On a 3+ the apothercary heals D3 wounds or revives one model from the unit with one wound left.
A unit can not be targeted by Dark Narthecium twice in a round.

Hope you like the model and maybe even the rules!

Okay, so I think that, once again, that is a fairly clever conversion! The narthecium gauntlet and backpack are looking great -- my gut instinct would be to get rid of the really thin part between the backpack and Tech-Priest Dominus beaker-thing because it looks a bit off right now.

Has he been completely glued together yet? Because I think you could make a couple of tweaks to his pose that could lend a bit of dynamism to a pretty static model: Have him stand on the fallen Marine with one foot, for example (and then painting that fallen Marine in IF colours, just sayin'). Turning his torso a fraction outwards (as much as the armour plating will allow) and then use the specific angle of his arms and head to make a slightly more realised pose -- the model's main shortcoming right now seems to be how the pose just seems very vanilla.

Hope this helps! :)

Iron Warriors

I have challenged KrautScientist to the August Arena to build base and paint a mounted character he hated the idea of a mounted character...
Then a day later he liked it and now he loves his little nurgle biker guy so yeah thats a rolercoaster of emotions :tongue.:.

Anyways here is my guy a Iron Warriors Lord on a Lizard (prob gonna make it count as a bike)

Right now i just need to figure out how to to bulk out the lizard a bit without him looking a some heavy armour shaped like a lizard...
If anybody got any ideas for this pls comment below!

Cool concept, the rider is looking great so far! I think the saddle looks a bit high and might do well with some trimming down. Also since it's Iron Warriors, adding bionics to the lizard or strapping on some ranged weapons might work out too since he's going to be a count-as bike. Looking forward to see where you go with this!

Hmm, I kinda agree with Vaircocanum about the saddle, buddy. Although shortening it would raise the issue of working out where the Marine's legs go, right? Maybe you could just move the saddle a tiny bit forwards and shorten it a bit. That way, the rider would end up sitting slightly lower, and his legs would hopefully "slot" into the gap beteen the lizard's front and hind-legs. Before breaking out the knife, however, you may want to make a dry fitting of the whole assembly, using a blob of poster tac instead of the saddle.

In case you were unable to source some Chaos Marauder bucklers, by the way, give me a holler: I'll be sending some stuff to Augustus early next week, and I could just put some of those bucklers in there as well, and he would probably drop them off at the GW store for you, if I were to ask nicely ;)

Iron Warriors

So i have been toying with a better place for the rider so he sits lower but its not really working atm so i am talking a break from that for a few days untill i get some motivation to work on that more.
But i have been trying some "upgrades" for the lizard see below:
http://i.imgur.com/KGK2cRj.jpg?1

Let me know what you guys think aobut this idea!

Edited by BubblesMcBub

Hmm, I'm actually torn: On the one hand, the gun assembly looks solid and is also an interesting idea -- it occurs to me that the lizard could actually be a Loxatl (of Gaunt's Ghosts fame). But on the other hand, I think there's a danger of adding too much clunky technology to the mount and end up with something that is cool in its own right, but no longer has anything much to do with the original design. It seems like this will be a bit of a tightrope walk, if you will. Plus you also need to ask yourself what it is you are going for, above all else: The sleek, clearly reptilian feel of the original model? Or something suitably massive and crazy for a Chaos Lord? Or something in between?

Iron Warriors

Hello again!
So i have been away last week on holiday so i havent had any hobby time but now that i am back i will finish my IW lord on dino (bike)!
So lets see what state he is in:

I also made a height foto so you can all see how high he is:
http://i.imgur.com/CLFsjoc.jpg?1He is next to a WIP mkIII marine on horse (my upcoming biker covnersions), a termy and a normal mkIII marine.
So while writing this post i hear that the chaos little shields i was gonna get from KrautScientist are not coming yet (damn you mail servises) so i have to do something else then i has in mind this is what i am thinking of now:
http://i.imgur.com/fwh3udq.jpg?1
So i know this is a busy post with a ot of pics but i really want to know what you all think cause i only have untill the 31st to finish and paint this model so i better hurry xD

Haha i feel stupid the challenge i set for me and KrautScientist is for the end of NEXt month not this month haha (i should learn to read).

So that took a lot of stress away...

Haha, I know, rright? Same here, buddy, same here! ;) Let's take that extra month to make the models and their bases as cool as we can, alright? ;)

So, a couple of thoughts:

  • the gun assembly on the head, along with the Warp Talon vanes has really grown on me. Maybe you should shorten the bolters a bit, though?!
  • the bigger chaos shield on the leg really, really doesn't work and messes up the model's silhouette, if you ask me. Good news, though: The package came back, and I'll be sending it out to the Netherlands again tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest, so the chaos marauder bucklers should be with you shortly!
  • maybe the Marine should be moved ever so slightly backwards, so his feet come down between the lizard's front and hind legs? He seems to be balanced a bit precariously right now ;)

Anyway, keep up the good work! :)

Haha glad i am not the only one kraut!

As for your responce yeah the long shield idea was trown out of the window as soon as i saw i have a month left and not just a couple of ideas also since i can now wait on the buckles i will wait for the final pose of the rider until i have the buckels on the lizard

As for the guns i really like the ammo things but i might be able to shorten it a bit by putting the raptor wing thingies more around the guns then behind so that would shorten it a bit i will look into that.

As for basing have you figured a cool base idea out yet i was thinking some mud battle scape with a fallen marine (imperial fist as all fallen marines should be) somewhere on the base half burried benead the mud.

Shouldn´t Iron Warriors ideally ride mechanical steeds? ;)

Shouldn't the Iron Warriors use a machine to manufacture clones, instead of that Frankenstein's monster of a manufactory?

I'm sure the Iron Warriors have an explanation for using meat in place of metal, even if it's as simple as "It looks cool," or "It makes my enemies freak the frak out."

I think it depends on the warlord i am sure there are hardcore warlords that will only use machines and there will also be warlords thatlike to use inexpencive flesh things (like humans and animals) in there army as a cheap and replaceable meat shield (literal meatshiel haha)

That being said i like my mounts yo be mostelly flesh based but augmented to fit the IW i think this makes sence since it is easier in my mind to replace living mounts all the time where you can probablly reuse the old augments then to have to build a new mechanical mount every time you mount dies in combat.

I am back! and better then ever! (this claim might not be true)

So I have been away a lot because of real life issues but i am back!
So as for the bobby i had some things done mainly i got and build a lot of primaris marines for my thousand sons army.

This includes a redemptor dreadnaught i will convert took more thousand sons.

I will post pictures of this and my ideas soon!

Secondly i have been starting a little deathwatch project.
This started because i got a deathwatch upgrade sprue from a friend so i thought what to do with it.
Afther a little look in my sprue box i saw i had a lot of mkIII armour still in sprue so i got to work on a deathwatch guy in mkIII armour.
This is the result:

7K377Bs.jpg?1

This is just a mkIII guy with the torso, helmet, shoulderpad, sword and backpack symbol from the upgrade sprue oh and the tabart from the mkIV sprue i think?
Rest if my deathwatch will just be mkIII marines with the deathwatch shoulderpad and maybe 1 or 2 converted weapons.
Let me know what you guys think of the deathwatch start!

So yeah thats it for this update hope to update you guys soon with other stuff i did!

DeathWatch

Hello!

I have made some more progress on my redemptor dreadnought but there just pieces so not really at a level where i can take a picture of it that picture making sence...
So instead you guys get some more of my deathwatch progress!
Last night i changed the sargents gun to be a stalker boltgun based on his phobos bolter he was holding thiss being the result:
kmWKlE1.jpg?1
I really likes toying with the phobos bolter and putting strange things on it so afther that stalker boltgun i made this thing:
YE3F7Fx.jpg?2
Not really sure what it is rule wise yet but i think it looks cool so i think i will convert all the weapons on my deathwatch army to make them all look unique and cool.
Let me know what you guys think of my weird bolter conversion and i hope to finish my dreadnought conversion tonight or tomorrow!
