As these don’t fit in with my Iron Hands I thought I would start a new topic. These are a very slow burn. This little guy was inspired by the model. I imagine him as excommunicated low level mechanicus skilled in servo skull maintenance. Eking out a living as a tracker/hunter, catching servo skulls in his faraday net, isolating them before reprogramming them for his own needs. Utilising repurposed pheromone tracking servo skulls, weapon platform servo skulls and a myriad of other types to hunt and seek out his prey. As I know little about the rules I hope he could have his own entourage of servo skulls or he could be a minion. I can utilise some of my previous models as his servo skull minions and as an excuse to make more. I have also made this model I imaged her as the daughter of a disgraced dead imperial knight pilot. A daddies girl/tomboy determined head strong, seeking to redeem her family name and the right to pilot a knight of her own after after tracking down enough of the dismembered parts of her father knight. Ever the thrill seeker she rides a STC plasma hover bike discovered early in her quest to recover her fathers Knight. She was granted a prototype bike made by the mechanicus from the STC plans she discovered and bearing a writ from mechanicus granting her privilege. The discovery of the STC should of granted her a knight of her own by the scheming Magos whom she delivered it to saw potential and was interested to see want else she would discover on her quest. Damn just noticed she lost her pony tail

Thanks for all the positive feedback. It’s good to be back with the frater doing stuff I enjoy my work life balance has been so far out I need to do something for me. It always amazes me how different a work looks in photos, green stuff is so much smoother than it looks in the photos. It helps having the reference photo along side and scaled , I will add the robotics to the foot to help ground the model. I have been building the whole squad at once here’s rad middle launcher I built I think I will revisit the greaves the spikes look a little heavy and the greaves need a bit of bulking up.l will see if I can get some photos of the rest of the squad although I might revisit one as I saw and awesome pose that would work for the destroyer squad.

Hi Guys, it has been an age since I last posted as I have moved country, Covid and life. Haven't been idle though and do have a bit of a back log to show now that I have sorted my camera. The model of Iron Hands destroyer is based off the above image. I would have liked to make a direct homage to this model but was limited by the components available. Thanks to the mods for the assistance in firing up my old post.

Accurately find barrel centres
jokaero weaponsmith replied to FormelyKnownAsSmashyPants's topic in + GENERAL PCA QUESTIONS +
Hey captain, you could try getting a short k&s brass tube that fits snuggly over the end of the barrel putting a couple of other k&s brass pipes that fit snuggly inside each other inside that and then drilling down the centre of these, they should centre the bit. As a fix for the exhaust you could try https://www.zinge.co.uk/collections/vehicles/products/modular-military-buggy-vehicle-bits-forest-sprue hope this helps. -
Iron Hands diffirent close combat style? (fluff)
jokaero weaponsmith replied to Token's topic in + ADEPTUS ASTARTES +
Which regards to bionic installs I believe that was the role of the Iron fathers as they are neither apothecary or techmarine . To me it is why the were held in such Esteem and often on the clan council. Over a period of time a Iron father may have conducted modifications on most if not all of his clan members. With the recon of the fluff who knows. With regards to a close combat fighting style Iron Hands use to have digital weapons that gave a boost in the older lore, I would have to look it up. If the bionics don’t move in a natural way it would go some way to explaining exposed bionics as the armour would not accommodate a unnatural range of movement. As for a uniform fighting style, I think that the clans of medusa may have developed fighting styles that maybe continued to be used by the Iron Hands. Maybe suited to the hand to hand in the close confines of a crawler boarder Action fighting. But as stated unless all the members had the same range of movement it wouldn’t be possible to school the members. That said all initiates have there left hand removed to become an Iron Hand maybe the fighting style is based on this fact and all their bionic hands can spin or something. I didn’t realise how much I miss a good fluff discussion that said I still struggle to embrace the new stuff. -
Does Iron Hands and successors have more veterans?
jokaero weaponsmith replied to Token's topic in + ADEPTUS ASTARTES +
I always thought that the Iron Hands expected more of everyone, themselves included. As such they push themselves harder, bionics or not it is just as costly when the expectations are higher. But fluff says otherwise. -

A Question about Sons of Medusa iconography
jokaero weaponsmith replied to Durus's topic in + ADEPTUS ASTARTES +
Beautiful done research, I don't think that there is much anybody could really add to your post as it would all be conjecture. You may just become the go to guy for the sons. As to why the last clan is not Clotho is most likely its wasn't grim dark enough that said the clan names are based on medusa clans, it could be that there was a Clotho clan so there were the three fates. But they were wiped out long before Ferrus got to medusa by inter clan fighting and had been forgotten or past into lengend as a warning of been weak. Clan Mageara could possibly be based off of Magara again just conjecture- 10 replies

Finally had a break from the grind of life to post these. Hes all but sculpted with the exception of his boarding shield that will lay broken on his base once his squad has been sculpted. I thought the boarding shield would obscurer the sculpt too much so created a Iron Hand gauntlet on his hand which i dont know if it shows in the photos. Once a gifted captain a bolter round prematurely detonating on his shoulder pad while saving his life all but destroyed his brilliant mind . Now instead of a cold calculating strategist all that remains is a instinctive brutish savage more akin to a World Eater than an Iron Hand. His tendency to break formation sees his bolter fixed to his chest should he regain coherency during battle. His ball and chain weapon was a gift by a now fallen battle brother to keep him grounded during his meteoric rise to captain, the ball representing the burden of command and each chain link a brother lost under his command. It seems that this symbol of his old station bears heavily on him and manifests in a need to avenge each link of the chain in a bloody frenzy. @ dogfender each chain link is crushed flat so it represents a more oval link than a typical round link of jeweler chain this stiffens the chain so it is more ridged and allows more surface contact for the glue as I wont paint the chain if it does break I burn off glue with a lighter and re-position it

I think the closest one could pass as a sword grip although that said the other one does appear to have smoke/ caper coming from it. He does look like he wold be packing a sword or two.

I have progressed a bit further by have reached a cross road and I am unsure as to how to progress which do you guys think works best. Do I have him with a shield which would allow me to have some chapter iconography, although after looking at these shots the shield needs to be up higher so he is glaring over it more and slightly tilted back over chest a bit more. Or without the shield although the chain would need to loop up to his empty hand and I am not sure I have pulled off the damaged shoulder pad very well. Either way I think I will do a chain loincloth and have a pipe running from the left of the helmet to his chest as it looks a bit bland.

I thought I would do a proper WIP for once for this guy. So far I have roughed out the stance and the leg armor and have started adding detail to the upper thigh armor. I have also roughed out the body armor and started detailing the exposed bionics below the damaged chest armor. I just wish the photos showed it a bit more, but hopefully you get the idea . Got a pretty good back story fleshed out in my head for this guy which helps guide the design process as to how his armor would look and the detailing he would embellish his armor with prior to the head wound. Any comments and criticisms welcomed.

Thanks guys for the positive feed back @ Luna707 your own Iron Hands have been incredibly inspirational so must I thank you @Vairocanum I can honest say I had not considered a bolter round as I thought it would be an outright kill if it had done that much damage to the helmet but I think you could be onto something will seriously look into this @ Feirros the bionics are from maxmini probably my favourite bionics even if the stock poses are some what awkward but they are great if your are not afraid to hack them up @Andvarr A most of the credit for the old school dread can be laid squarely at the feet of IHF please take the time to have a look though his work @ The Hydra and MikhalLeNoir for taking the time to write and for your positive feed back it means a lot . @ Kraad Belaak thanks for the praise I think, seriously like you're avatar name would mind if I possibly used it for a character?

I have been working on a couple little projects lately but have been focusing on a legion champion and I am really happy with some of the details. I read along time ago that medusian culture was based on Scottish culture, I don't know if this really holds true with the latest fluff from forge world (and don't really care what clan raukaan has to say) but thought it would be nice to explore, so my legion champion carries a modified Targe with a gorgon head on it I don't know why it took so long to come up with the idea for what to put on the shield , it really should have been an obvious choice for a son of medusa. I know a Targe is traditionally round and strapped to the arm and hand. I thought that with a bionic arm the user would have modified his forearm to locate and control the Targe to free up his hand and increase dexterity for the dagger that was traditional carried with the Targe. The broadsword is basket hilted to be a little bit different as I think there only two other basket hilts in the GW range, so I used the idea of a circuit board pattern for the hilt I really hope I pulled this off. I was thinking that the energy field of the power broadsword would also flow around the hilt as protection from other power sword blows and making it like a mini power fist. As yet I haven't got a name for him but was thinking for his back story he was apart of interchange program between the Iron Hands and the Emperors children and was assigned to a Palatine Blades squad as a sign of respect between the two legions and due his finesse and skill with the sword. However he was left with both arms amputated and thrown from the disembarking ramp of the Firebird as Fulgrim made his escape. Also started this guy and was wondering what would cause this wound that wasn't fatal but caused damage to the logic functions of the brain.

Thoughts on SoM color scheme?
jokaero weaponsmith replied to Bmseifer's topic in + ADEPTUS ASTARTES +
According to imperial armour V10 Mageara war clan utilising the purest form of the emerald and white heraldry Atropos war clan incorporates more black Lachesis war clan incorporates more silver steel And the illustrations show quite a camo green more than a lime green For me that sea green is a little lacking in the green but I must say I'm not a fan of the lime green. That said the variation of the "same" colour painted on houses two hundred years old in London is massive let alone thousands of years . It's your army and the first people to complain will be those with unpainted armies but obviously the closer to canon the less you will have to explain to others.
