    Wrapping Wreckas

    By zulu.tango

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

    Square Pants Bob

    By Bouargh

Hi Folks,   Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).     The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of

    Jagieŀŀo inspects their prizes

    By GSCUprising

The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.   Brutus, the Malcador, reliable, dependable the spine of their battleline. She will not fail them. She will hold the line, her battlecannon roaring, her sponsons blazing as she paves the way for the Resistance's advance. The Iron Duke, his twin Earthshaker cannons blasting holes in the enemy's fortifications. He guards those retreating and the wounded behind his massive blast shield

    XIVth Legion build

    By W.A.Rorie

So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists  Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.   I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w

Another layer of planification

Hi folks,   Now that I have explored the bottoms of my cardboxes, I am pretty sure all the proxy-AM models I had built from GSC sprues were covered by my previous photocall. Nothing more hidden in any place. These are therefore the basis I will use as a starting point.   Second step has been a deep and careful reading of the Astra Militarum DS, mostly for Command Squads and Battleline units.  Each of the three flavours has different options and DS structure, leading to differ

Resuming a dormant project

Hi Folks,   It has been a while since I have last worked on my custom Astra Militarum Regiment. As it is based on kit bashed GSC models, it might lead to some confusion with GSC. But I do not play GSC (yet), even if through purchases (for example patrol boxes) I might harvest some sheer GSC models too. And as such it might lead me sooner or later to add enough specific GSC models to align a swiss-knife army. But this is not today’s topic.   Before diving into the scheduling,

Awakened

Geffes opened his eyes. The strong stench of antiseptics indicated that he was lying in the med‑block. The guardsman near his ward’s door hastily reported to someone that the commissar had awakened. Arthur tried to sit up, but a blazing pain in his chest stopped him. He looked at his body, covered with bandages from neck to toes. “Seventy‑nine broken bones,” Victor said, looking at the commissar. “And another hundred cracks.” Victor came in and sat on a chair near the bed. “W

Ready.

Astra Militarum models unassembled: 0 Astra Militarum models unpainted: 0   That's all folks! For now I have all my IG minis completed. That's such a great project, I can't remember I was so satisfied earlier in hobby, may be because I'd mostly playing and painting was a tax to pay.       Next batch of Elrins XIV should arrive mid-end of May.

Your unusual ogryns are finished... Or not?

Last bullgryn is done, I don't make a story for him, so just the bonehead. I have a great plan for him but failed due to lacklustre of my painting skills. So I make some bloody mess around. And tried new approach for power weapon with blood. It should looks like field burns blood from maul.   Technically squad is done. But I wanna more ogryns and bullgryns. It's like infantry, you just can't have enough. So I'll add more, and each gonna be somehow unique folk.

Major Karl Mannerkheim

Major and second in command in regiment Karl Mannerkheim, master of siege and defense. Beloved strategy - static defence. He spent most of his time learning new tactics and strategy from Tactical Imperialis.

There is can't be enough infantry

Finished all battleline units. There is last blob of twenty and army shoot without vechicles and ogryns who's wip right now.  I wish I finish last two bullgryns and castellan tomorrow. There is very few touches for them. And technically basecoated sentinels who need to be repainted in new( or upgraded colour scheme). That's looks good on the shelf and after I got all remained infantry, which is twice current body count I've got a company.

Your unusual ogryn

This is Broggy. Once he joined the ranks he was real troublemaker. Commissar Gaffes though find the key to his soul. Instead of punish unruly Ogryn he said him:  "When your armour and uniform and clear and shiny The God-Emperor smiles on his Throne" After this no more problem from him, except may be overuse of polishing paste.

We almost there...

Command squad is ready. Nice models and I'm almost happy how they looks. I build them without banner cause cadians banner aren't fit my guys. All infantry almost done. Well, 1/3 of LINE infantry is done. This year good bunch of HWS and artillery join the party. Also more command squads and kasrkins. I don't know, and to be honest I won't know why I build army this way. At the end of year I gonna have full company + some support. I wanna 3 line company.  Do GW return apocalypse or not I wanna hav

Requesting Assistance

I'm having some issue with the 3d printed heads I ordered, and I was hoping I could get some feedback on what to use.   I really dislike the Tempestus Aquilons/Scions heads and will avoid those at all costs if possible.   Here's a sample of my 3d printed options. Do either of these look alright?

A Pivot...

Well... A slight pivot as the 3d printed Harakoni Warhawks helmets are a little too big in the head and tiny in the neck.   Looks like I might be using Kasrkin and Aquilon heads after all...    But the test fits are going well.

And So It Begins...

"It was the year of fire, the year of destruction, the year we took back what was ours. It was the year of rebirth, the year of great sadness, the year of pain, and the year of joy. It was a new age. It was the end of history. It was the year everything changed. The year is 2026; the place: Bolter & Chainsword"     Today, I start construction of the 164th.

ELUSIVE SALVATION: THE 164TH (PART 2)

The storm owned the city.   Rain fell sideways, thick with ash, turning lumen-globes into sickly halos that barely touched the ground.   MASON split the squad without words. Hand signals. Eye contact. Black-Net stayed quiet except where silence would kill them.   They moved through the slums like a rumor of violence.   Doors opened before hands reached for locks. Shapes folded before mouths could open. No one screamed long enough to matter. Bodies hit ferr

Not GSC - Rogue Trader Entourage Part 3

Hi folks,   As my paint job is progressing on my RT Entourage, I can already share some progress for 2 figures serving the warrant bearer: The Death Cult Assassin proxy and the Rejuvenat Adept proxy.   For the former, its paint scheme has been largely influenced by the standard paint schem proposed by GW for the Biophagus. It stays very close of the genuine model, save the loss of its GSC familiar and a head swap. For the later, the colors were selected to match with the

This bullgryn, named Bop, seen a space marine once. From the Space wolfs. Somehow, he was got the cloak with fur. Commissar, trying keep poker face after Bop explained what he want, make a purity seal for him. And Techpriest with last drops of sense of humor make a shoulderpads.    Behold! space wolfgryn Bop.    Bop is happy now.

Not GSC - Rogue Trader Entourage Part 1

Hi folks,   For a while now I have pledged to myself a kind of oath of honor: I will not buy any model that is (too) obviously deemed to be shelved out a short/medium range. It looks like I have failed with the pledge and betrayed that oath. Indeed, I have just acquired a box of Navy Breachers. And a set a characters from various GW settings in order to gather my very own custom made Rogue Trader Entourage. But I am not playing GSC, even if, as you will see, some or even most of t

ELUSIVE SALVATION: THE 164TH

The Valkyrie bucked hard in the crosswinds, warning runes screaming across the cockpit bulkhead. MASON heard the pilots arguing over the vox—too much flak, too much turbulence, too much everything.   “Ghost Lead, negative drop. Repeat, negative drop,” the pilot barked. “You jump now, you die before the chute arms.”   MASON keyed his helm mic. “Open the ramp.”   “Absolutely not—”   He didn’t wait. Manual override hissed beneath his hand. The ramp locks clan
