My second CtA26 vow is based on IK. With one Questoris and two Armigers (plus a container).

After magnetizing the arm weapons of the Questoris and trying out a checker pattern on the pauldron, the rest of the paint job was finally straight forward. Most of the skeleton is done by dry brushing, which is a go-fast technique. And armor panels are quite easy with my bicolor scheme once the fancy stuff such as checkers have been managed. It is also the third big knight of the kind that I do so I have had opportunities for training before.

Once decals applied, the final aspect is rather OK, even if the decals themselves are a little bit too glossy. Except the custom decal made by combining a recut Crimson Fist chapter icon (ooP SM vehicle decal sheet) and a Cog: indeed, I had to paint some red on top of it to correct unpleasant transparencies.

The big robot, like most of the central figures, deserves a basing that is a little bit more detailed than a standard model. Sure that, as I aim at tabletop ready only, I will not go in anything too complex. But this time I wanted to get something a little bit different from my rocks made from grey-painted bark. I therefore reused a blue stuff casted gantry that I wanted to use in my 12 MoH Plodding along project. My knight is therefore stepping on what used to be a small part of a Mechanicus sector.

The pleasant part of the process is that the magnetizing allows fielding either a Crusader or any of the two following variant : a Paladin or a Warden. Here are the photoshop-free versions once weapons are swapped.

A nice project, finally done at high speed rate once the checkers were done : over one weekend, painting 2 to 3 hours per evening (inc. Friday’s eve) it was done.
