Putting together a 3k list to take advantage of the bonus VP from both Moebius and Leviathal. I'd have loved to get a tank or two in, but dreads > tanks this edition, and with leviathal they have to be off-board (which isn't bad, but not for this list. The usual alpha sneakiness, with some grav thrown in for movement blocking the opponent. The BA are there to charge in and die, hopefully applying pressure, the headhunters go after the warlord T1, or try to slag the transport they're in then die heroically. The librarian goes with the Fulmentarus to make them a frightening unit, that will return fire and pin you, probably. Vigilator roams with the seekers trying to hunt characters and pin things, the delegatus either goes with the lascannons or the recons. Basic troops including the fast assault squad that will try and hide, then score late game. The speeder is there to unlock the second heavy slot, but I could drop this and the levi for another contemptor + 2 more rapiers, or other stuff? a thread for using the alpha legion rules from the horus heresy, but playing against 40k and 30k. i'll kick it off with what i believe was my post in the other thread: keep in mind, im thinking for playing against all armies, not just HH legions. for units to steal with the AL rite, i like the idea of using iron havocs. give them autocannon, and 2 or 3 missile launchers, and they can do a good bit damage to nearly any type of unit. the only thing theyd really struggle to hurt is AV14, because of the missiles still needing 6s just to glance. one strategy im looking to try is having a full 20-man tactical squad with extra CCW. put a vigilator and master of signal in the squad. take the infiltrate special rule for the whole army. infiltrate the squad as close to its target as possible (probably only 18 inches), then use the scout move from the vigilator to move closer still. first turn, fury of the legion. second turn, you can probably get a charge off at something if theyre still on the table. putting alpharius in this unit will just make it hurt that much more when they hit home.

Every day unveils a new boon for the dark angels - an apoc game last night, my opponents used some DWC's - as Alpha Legion, I have a lot of character assassination shenanigans, and the DWC rules allow you to ignore precision shots, strikes and the sniper rule. With 3 of the group playing DA's I need a work around - is there any way to get around it, or is the only way to kill all the companions? They can also take wargear to get an outrageous 4++ against shooting (10pts/model, I think a refractor field is 15pts for a 5++?). My first thought was lots of High S firepower - maybe a conversion beamer from 42+"away, maybe lots of breaching plasma, but then the 4++ comes into it. Is there a decent way to kill these guys to get at the juicy HQ choice, or is it best just to ignore them?

Hello everyone. Here are my primaris legionnaires. I'm beeing often asked "Why are you painting you primaris as Alpha legion, that is bad lorewise,stupid and blablabla" Firstly i have a big 30k alpha legion army (you can check it here) and i want to play them in 8 edition. But as they do not look as a chaos legion at all (like really - not a single tentacle ot horn in the whole army) and i do not want to buy those chaos units like cultist or daemons, i decided to play them as space marines using Reven guard trait Secondly, if i paint them as, say carcharodons, it would be super weird to see space sharks guys desembarking from a thunderhawk in Alpha legion colors. I basically will not be able to play some of my heresy-era units. Thirdly, i really like primaris models (apart from supressors - those guys are weird) So i decided to make my version of loyal alpha legion (duh) who stole primaris technology (or were given it by someone - you choose) Here are my primaris And some wips

I'm putting together a 1500p AL list for Centurion play mode (No vehicles except walkers and bikes/speeders and pods). The warmonger and medic goes with the plasma squad and therefore gains deep strike. I could legally run CotH if I wanted without being forced to choose infiltration, but I see no point since I have neither Dynat or other legion's special units included. I think I'll go with a generic RoW or none. I'm looking for a list were most units can deal with Dreadnoughts and TEQs and pick their close combats (get the charge) by being quite mobile. I have the flexibility to choose what starts on the table. There could be advantages and disadvantages to having units deep striking or outflanking from case to case. I'm a bit worried that warmonger and 10x plasma support with apothecary is a bit too unfriendly. Would you consider that unit setup too overpowered? I thinking that the plasma squad with warmonger could be a distraction Carnifex while the rest of the list buzz around the battlefield and pick objectives with their rather good mobility. What are your thoughts on the list overall? A'm I being too unfriendly with warmonger and plasma squad?
