Hey everyone, welcome to my hobby thread! If you're looking for one of the colour scheme tutorials from my 'March of the Legions' project or one of the basing tutorials, please check the bottom of this post for all of the relevant links. If you can't find what you're looking for or if you have a question that's not answered in the relevant post, please feel free to send me a private message. Regards, Kizzdougs. For more regular updates check out my Instagram account @raptorimperialis I've recently been feeling the urge to start a new 40K project. After much musing and many false starts, i've decided on the Thousand Sons, Pre-heresy. They aren't my favourite legion or chapter but the TS have always be a legion full of character, imagery and conversion opportunities. A perfect combination in my opinion. This project has been at least two years in the planning process. It all started when i converted a PH TS sorcerer for a conversion competition at my local GW (which i was lucky enough to win). After building the Sorcerer i knew i had to make some more TS, they are just so fun and different. Unfortunately it has taken me over two years to finally get here. The Sorcerer who started it all. He is a relatively simple kit bash with minimal GS work. I took inspiration from the Thousand Sons art in 'Collected Vissions', especially that of Ahriman and Uthizarr. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/photo-3.jpg The test mini. I used bits from several kits to build this terminator, the majority are from the GK terminator kit and the Tomb Guard kit (WHFB). http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0290.jpg?t=1313302289 With crest added. I can't decide whether to give all the terminators these crests or just keep them for the squad leaders. Any opinions and suggestions are welcome. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0291.jpg?t=1313302233 http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0292.jpg?t=1313302169 A close up of the force weapon. Such a simple conversion but i'm fairly happy with how it turned out. Sorry about the bad lighting. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0289.jpg?t=1313302359 Hopefully this project will develop and progress at a not too slow pace (fingers crossed). I plan on adding some Sisters of Silence and maybe even some Custodes at a later stage. I'm certainly feeling the necessary inspiration at the moment. Any and all suggestions and advice are more than welcome, as are questions and queries. Greetings all, welcome to my XXth legion WIP log. With the release of Betrayal of Calth I have decided to start up a second legion to face off against my iron hands. The alpha legion bring a whole host of new hobby and gaming challenges. Hopefully this blog will keep me motivated!

I've fallen into the same problem as a lot of other gamers... there are so many armies I'd like to build and no way to afford them all. Thus, I got to thinking about having one army I can use for any situation - Alpha Legion. I can use them for 40k or heresy, or play traitor or loyalist, all by just shuffling a couple units around. http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/201/2/a/alpha_legion_01_by_kasumidoll-d7rj0cq.jpg http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/201/8/d/alpha_legion_02_by_kasumidoll-d7rj0j2.jpg Test color scheme. http://img15.deviantart.net/2670/i/2015/150/2/0/alpha_omega_01_by_kasumidoll-d8vd8i8.jpg WIP on the primarchs.

I felt like doing a project log. I should have started earlier since I've been doing the odd bit of Black Legion for most of the year but better late than never and the Death Guard release is round the corner so I want my Black Legion out of the way. Black Legion were my second 40k army from over a decade ago but I never really painted that many of them. This thread will be for Black Legion, Death Guard and Fallen Angels. I got my BL ready but only got to play one Fate of Konor game my army was more or less this: Proxied Cultists due to not wanting to buy or paint more autogun chaff right now and a rhino I actually earmarked for Death Guard due to not wanting to have to work on that many rhinos. Everyone was based for the campaign and the khorne berzerkers got rebuilt. Daemon Prince is only there because my Lord never got finished. Berzerkers were the only chaos unit I actually 'finished' when I was a wee lad. I don't have a 'before' pic for the berzerkers I rescued them but here are some left over bits to give you an idea of the state they were in. Now they look like this. Mostly made up of berzerker bits because I wanted to finish them without any further investment but there are some chaos knight, possessed and regular chaos marine bits in there. They aren't quite finished but they'll do for now. Banner is a plague monk one. Work in progress possessed. The rest of the squad I won't post because they're not very different from when I got them painted second hand (only thing I did was the black legion symbol and a coat of black over Iron warrior grey). Daemon Prince I started years ago and redid the trim and eyes to bring him up to scratch along with throwing a wash on him. Earlier this year I did these squads: Havoks with Forge World autocannons and mixed csm/mark 3 bits. Still need one last top knot. I did some touches up on my old chaos lord before noticing that he was way out of scale compared to the Dark Vengeance models I had just painted. I had planned on just changing the bases on my metal terminators since they were still kind of okay scaled to the 3rd edition chaos marines and berzerkers but the newer models were going to cause issues. So I bought a Terminator Lord Cadre and a Scarab Occult box to combine with a bunch of second ed metal terminator arms to make: Still kind of WIP Terminators Cyclopia Cabal (never actually used it before the new edition removed formations). Still a legal Supreme Command detachment but too expensive to use. I have a "terminator officers only" rule in my Black Legion which only my Exalted Champion is breaking. Motor pool with WIP rhino. Can't remember how I used to do eyes and have DG rhinos to do so its on hold. Bikers are only slightly converted because I needed to do something to make them come close to living up the ludicrous concept that is "CHAOS SPACE MARINE BIKERS" but also wanted to be able to get them out of the way. Stuff I did less recently. Chosen I did a year or so ago and are the current 'standard' I followed up with on the havoks and terminators. Guys on the right are my old 'possessed' from 3rd edition who I made without properly checking the unit entry while the guys on the left were done 7 or so years ago just after my daemon prince' first colour scheme back when I was checking out if p3 Blighted Gold was going to be the way to go. All were rebased recently. Mace chosen gets used as an exalted champion, the others get to be aspiring champions.

Okay while bored on a routine drive to work I got to thinking about the consistent comment that Alpharius/Omegon are one soul in two bodies. This, in turn, brought up the point that a lot of the "chaos corruption" we see in the fluff/background talks about souls and deamons attacking souls and what not. Or even when it comes to prophecies and stuff (not just 40K in general) it is often talking about souls and all that. Now combining all of this makes me wonder if there is a reason Alpharius (and Omegon) never really "fell" to chaos. Yes, they sided with Horus' rebellion (Cabal be damned), and yes others in the legion since have dabbled in the arcane arts. But we never really see any corruption or mutation or power enhancement from Alpharius. Is this because the gods couldn't affect him entirely because he only had half a soul. We have - I think, although sources don't come to mind - seen that Alpharius and Omegon didn't always see eye-toe-eye perfectly, so while "one soul" they weren't "one mind". So maybe they couldn't be simultaneously controlled by influencing a single soul. The displacement of the soul parts meant no chaos entity could manipulate the whole? Maybe it's also why they didn't seem to have a part to play in the "Great Game" or whatever because their fate was so convoluted with their separation of soul into twin bodies that their "role" could never be seen and it meant they didn't have one. They were rogue agents to the whims of the Gods and it offered them protection from manipulation? I dunno, just random driving thoughts I guess.
