This is going to be a blog filled with heresy, quite likely a butchering of the canon I’m afraid. I like the Luna Wolves, but never really warmed to Horus. I’ll put all of my divergences from the established truths in spoiler tags so if you’re just here for the modelling and pictures you can skip over all of the heresy. The big black books of the HH were my initial bible for this project when it first started to percolate a decade ago. I always found the legion structures from the novels to be something that was only ever given token attention, so Betrayal was the inspiration for my Chapter's focus, rather than the novels themselves. The second point of heresy is that I'm using the primaris scale marines and converting them to MkIII and MkIV power armour, I just like the scale more and when I (eventually) add Imperial Army or Mechancium detachments the marines will look more imposing. For now I'm building up the third platoon, I'm 20/36 marines built I think so I'm getting there slowly but surely. The Debacle at Kranis Gorge (M30.803) I Company "Seren Syrthio" ORBAT Battalion: 2nd Skyfall Battalion Designation: 1st Company Specialization: High-Risk Drop Pod Assault & Beachhead Establishment Commander: Centurion Approximate Strength: 114 Astartes Company Profile: "Seren Syrthio" (an Albian phrase for 'Falling Star') is the First Company of the 2nd Skyfall Battalion. Howdy one and all and welcome to my WIP thread for my Luna Wolves. Since I read Galaxy in Flames many moons ago (well over 100 moons now), the Luna Wolves have been my favourite legion. One thing that was never mentioned was any detachments of the 16th but as with the rest of the legions there must have been detachments dotted around the galaxy. My 14th Company are one of these detachments. In the early stages of the Great Crusade they were responsible for one of the few operational mistakes of the legion and are essentially exiled from the main body with the remit to rebuild the company. The goal is to build a fully mechanised army. I'd love to be able to make a full Regiment, but I think that the stretch goal will be a mechanised company with an Armoured and Support Company to back them up. For now I’ll be focussing on a platoon at a time to keep the same integrated feel but on a more macro scale. 14th Mechanised Battalion, Luna Wolves 14th Chapter (Orbat) Links: First Platoon, Alpha Company HQ Squad [Unowned] Tactical Squad 1 [Built] Tactical Squad 2 [Purchased] Tactical Squad 3 [Unowned] Fire Support Squad 1 [Unowned] Heavy Support Squad 1 [Unowned] 6 x Razorback [Unowned] Zulu Company elements: Terminator Squad 1 [Purchased, Spartan Complete] Sky Hunter Squad 1 [Unowned] Land Speeder Squad 1 [Unowned] Troop 1, Delta Company: Sicaran Troop 1 [Unowned] Troop 1, Golf Squadron elements: 1 x Kratos [Unowned] Detachments: Contemptor Dreadnought Talon [Purchased] Warhound Titan [Purchased] Cerastus Knight Titan [Built] Most recent Army shot 16/03/2025:

So ladies and germs, wanting to get painting a whole army of marines I trawled the interweb and found the star phantoms, I like the scheme and what fluff I found, so without further ado here is my first phantom, albeit a dead one http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz184/Lamenterkyle/Mobile%20Uploads/2013-11-30223506_zps6c2a2943.jpg http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz184/Lamenterkyle/Mobile%20Uploads/2013-11-30223547_zps3ff597a4.jpg c+c most welcome

AND NOW I PRESENT... 3D PRINTING So seeing as my post on the 3d printing got removed (too much of a sales post, so this tread will just be a wip and update tread), this is the new place for 3d printing, part creating, modelling idea sharing, and showing us (The GeekilyDo collective) your ideas for legion specific and BOTL specific armor, tanks (yes tanks!) and characters. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ So why this tread? Well, here is a tread were me and MikhaLeNoir will post our updates on this project. So what will this project be all about? We want to create the legion specific armor, shoulder pads, tanks and characters (inlcuding primarchs!). But we are gonna need some help with that! If we really want to create 3d models of warhammer models, we need details on information, details on every-tiny-freaking-thing. This counts for everything, we want this to be as perfect as possible. We might work outside of the BOTL verse too, but in this tread it will be mostly related or fully in character. So where did this all start? Well I have always been interested in 3d printing, and a month ago, the spending bug bit me. My money flew at the screen... And this happened: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Asdrubael108/Schermafbeelding%202016-06-29%20om%2013.14.32_zpsmq5rp65e.png This is a custom Robo 3d R1, it has an updated motherboard, better hexagon feeder, and better stepper motors... This might all sound very unfamiliar to you guys... But this is the quality it can print on: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Asdrubael108/Schermafbeelding%202016-06-29%20om%2013.14.05_zpsifwg7qcl.png This is not the quality suitable for miniatures, I printed a custom designed han solo blaster, but that is at 200 microns (0,2 mm) But now let's go to the real work: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Asdrubael108/Schermafbeelding%202016-06-29%20om%2013.15.11_zpsllrashhs.png A wanhao duplicator 6... Ohhhhh yes, 20 microns layers! 0,02mm (for your information, that's one FIFTH of the thickness of a piece of paper)! This is the quality GW prints their masters at! So when we print the legion specific stuff... It will be prototype quality. So what will I do to make this even better? After Mikhal had a GREAT idea, he gave me an idea... A 3d scanner! Yes! This scanner will be bought around the same time as the Wanhao, making for a scanning of sculpts and 3d redesigning of models! So now let's make this post a little bit more warhammery. This was a long post on the pans and the future (around november), so here is some warhammer for you guys! http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Asdrubael108/20150921_120751_zpse2kqklbe.jpg So now, help us out! Give us all the info on legion and BOTL specidfic armor, weapons, characters, primarchs, tanks, titans and flyers... Litterly everything is wanted! Sketches are even better, and pm me if you want to ask specifical guestions (or ANY guestion really), or more on the cost side (I will not advertise MORE in this tread, as I don't want it removed again). Btw, legion specific shoulder pad designs would be the most welcome for now, but the rest is awesome too! Hello all who visit my thread, I've been lurking on the forums for quite a long time, getting inspired by the big guys on here to maybe throw together a WiP thread of my own. I haven't been into the heresy game for that long, only coming up to three years now, and after a little lot of back and forth with what legion I want to play - I started with Luna wolves, tried WE once, then AL before again coming back to SoH in their pre-heresy format. I've also cheated on marines with some mechanicum which I sold of, and halfway planned a 3k solar auxila force before settling back into the comfy seat of the legion list. However the obvious problem was how to frame a pre-heresy army taking part in what is definitely a heresy game. So I sat down and thought of the outline for the fluff of my guys, I'll give you a dry outline but will expand and focus on the fluff around their eventual demise once I get to posting the individual members of the squads. I have around 2k painted up to a tabletop standard and I'm finishing up with custom transfers and starting to eventually weather stuff to - the photos are kind of a last memento before I ruin everything with weathering. (not that I'm good enough of a painter to actually have anything that could be ruined but I try my best and hopefully I'm slowly improving.) So the outline of the fluff before I get to the picture of my horrible paint jobs is that my guys are part of the 81st expeditionary fleet, they're a mixed bunch of old terrans who were disappointed in Horus after fighting alongside the Emperor a whole lot in the early crusade / solar war - so expect a lot of raptor imperialis around. They've also picked up some newbloods from around the galaxy, including good ol' cthonia, but because of their reluctance to accept their father, Horus sent all of them away, and they have mostly cruised around what would later become Segmentum Pacificus. So, for most of the marines barring the old terran guard they have never met Horus. But they have fought on the sides of several of the other legions and met other primarchs (in particular the blood angels and iron warriors), thinking themselves (rightfully) scorned sons. because of this most of the force while initially well equipped with MKIV armors have found themselves having to kitbash together suits from whatever functions. Relying on stockpiles of other patterns of armor to maintain as much MKIV hybrids as possible. the "battalion" (although such formations are considered unorthodox by SoH standards) would eventually met up with their genefather one last time - At Ullanor. This is where a majority of the marines would be annihilated, the survivors being merged into a company sized element to retain battle readiness, this company would eventually find itself rudely awoken to the heresy not at istvaan III, but at a later surprise attack by Loyalist Iron warriors out to prove their loyalty to Terra, Ironically seeing the destruction of a company of marines that would have (for the most part) stayed loyal to the emperor. But enough boring blathering about the background - I'm sure you guys would prefer it in the context of models, to set the bar high enough I'll start with my most recent (and thus prettiest imo) of the wolves, an apotechary! Apotechary Aenas Aenas was a son of a blacksmith from a world called Duratine which had submitted to unification without fighting, intimidated by the "Stone men" that fell from the sky clad in their furs and draped in the cold marble like armor. Aenas was part of the first and only muster on Duratine, netting the battalion 200 souls out of a whole planets population. During selection he was found adequate at any task set before him, mastering both the bolt and blade fast, yet never rising beyond the expected, if he is said to have one defining characteristic its his ability to stay calm under pressure - eventually he found his true calling as an apothecary, his steely nerves under fire ensuring that relatively few of those who fell into his care didn't live to see another day. One of the younger members of the apothecary he is semi permanently attached to the 3rd company, which in the 18th battalion is called "Tempest" - They are the boarding and drop assault vanguard of the 18th, consisting primarily of despoilers, breachers and terminators. He would eventually die at Ullanor, spared the horror of the heresy. A frequent tag along on any boarding party, where his calm nerves and strong friendship with breacher sergeant Faustus ensured that many ork kroozers fell onto the grounds of Ullanor. Both of them giving up their lives to take down the ork kroozer "Big Booma" - Saving the 18th's battle barge "Luna's Glow" from certain destruction.

Working on a fully magnetized dark angels legion support squad, have them set up with flamers but interested in having an alternative Plasma gun/Plasma repeater setup. My first attempt was less then successful, using a Shapeways "Plasma reaper shotgun" from white wyvern designs, which lacked detail/smoothness when primed (I had previously scrubbed them down in soapy water, it was not enough alas stripping them resulted in some sort of chemical leeching effect them left a bizarre white film, my attempts to get off have been less the successful. Any ideas on how to represent the plasma repeaters? The people I game with are rule of cool type people so it does not necessary have to be GW/Forgeworld product (state side in my experience outside of GW stores and events, rule of cool is law)
