  1. Version 2025 05 05

Microsoft PowerPoint file with templates for creating fan-developed NPO datacards. Offers multiple formats. Versions with images include a green background that needs to be removed or turned transparent in final versions.
  2. This is part of the NPO Project. The images below represent my first real attempt at creating NPOs for the Asuryani. In the spirit of NPOs being "regular soldiers," I left this as purely Guardians, based on the Guardian Defender and Storm Guardian units presented in the codex. While I briefly considered creating a type of leader that might be on par with an Aspect Warrior (but not an Exarch), I felt that was a step beyond what this project is trying to achieve. I also considered including a Warlock and a Pathfinder. Warlocks are known to lead Guardians into battle, but since they're not part of the unit entry, I felt it was appropriate to leave them out. Similarly, Games Workshop has given us rules for snipers and Pathfinders are the natural representative for that role in the Asuryani armies, but I didn't think it was necessary. I may develop a Pathfinder [Sniper] datasheet later, but that seems like something that is too specific to missions and mission packs that use the sniper rules, so they're not necessary in the general use NPO roster. While I originally conceived of this as the "Asuryani" faction, I later changed it to "Asuryani Guardian" to allow for the possibility of other NPO team options from the Asuryani (I don't personally plan any, but I could easily see where other players might want to take things). Each NPO is presented on two datasheets. The version on the left is the standard version, which I prefer. The version on the right omits the keywords, APL, and Move entries because mission packs often present mission special rules that dictate NPO force composition and NPO movement, rendering these entries irrelevant. The version on the right also leaves out NPO force composition notes, where applicable. For example, Storm Guardian Gunners are limited based on the number of total Storm Guardians, which is shown in the version on the left but not that on the right (since it would be dictated in the mission pack). (click the images to see full size versions) I tried to keep things as close as possible to the composition of each type of squad (Guardian Defender/Storm Guardian) as found in the codex. This required a little creativity which I hope doesn't create confusion. The stats for the flamer and fusion weapon were derived from similar weapons found in various other kill team faction rules (the fusion gun being a meltagun). Both platforms use rules similar to those used for servo skulls (i.e., don't participate in Fights, reduced APL when determining control of a marker, effect of having a Conceal order). I don't know that these are the "right" rules to give them, but they're a starting point. Something I did with both was require that some Asuryani Guardian NPO be within 1" of these platforms for them to perform behaviours (though the Serpent's Scale Platform is supposed to provide its defensive benefits regardless). I based the shuriken cannon rules (Heavy Weapon Platform) on the Voidscarred Corsairs, and the defensive rules for the Serpent's Scale Platform on the shimmershield of the Blades of Khaine (though the range was modified to be in line with the Warhammer 40,000 counterpart). You may see some inconsistencies in the left/right versions, in which case I'll provide the intended rules in replies here. Something I found is that developing the behaviours of each NPO is much more challenging than I first thought it would be. It requires going through a logical sequence and developing correct descriptions, where applicable. I don't know that the versions I've presented here are necessarily the right ones, but they provide a decent starting point. I imagine that discussion here will refine things so that we can improve upon these. While I have begun working on ideas for NPOs from other factions (I'm starting with the other Aeldari sub-factions), each will be covered in their own discussion so that each discussion can remain focused. The intent is to finalize these (only after the other NPO factions have been developed and finalized so that there can be some level of consistency and balance) and present each faction as a downloadable file.

  4. Kill Team as a separate "game" was originally part of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook in the 4th edition of the game, published in 2004. That version was based on a special scenario for the 3rd edition of the game in which Gav Thorpe's Last Chancers were featured. The original (WH40K) Kill Team was somewhat different from what we have had for the last three editions of the game, but the Joint Ops Mission Pack in the current edition of the game evokes some of the same concepts. Switching gears, the Space Hulk boardgame was originally published in 1989, introducing players to the Adeptus Astartes Terminators, Genestealers, and space hulks. The game was fantastic, earning the Origins Award for Best Fantasy or Science Fiction Boardgame in 1989, with the Deathwing expansion receiving the same award in 1990. A 2nd edition of the game was published in 1996. The game fell into the limbo of being not supported by Game Workshop, though it remained beloved by fans. Cut to 2005 and Games Workshop catered to fans of the Space Hulk game by presenting the Return to Space Hulk rules/guidelines via the web, using the Kill Team rules as a framework. Players were thrilled. And I had the presence of mind to save everything Games Workshop gave us for this offering since I was worried about it later disappearing (spoiler: it did). Of course, Games Workshop later gave us the fantastic 3rd edition of the Space Hulk game in 2009, followed by a 4th edition in 2014 (I consider it edition 3.5, but that's just me being crotchety). The Space Hulk game hasn't received official support from Games Workshop in the time since, however, so it occurred to me that those hobbyists unfortunate enough to not have access to any edition might enjoy using the latest Kill Team rules to sort of play something kind of but not really like it. And then Games Workshop decided to release the Space Marine Heroes Blood Angels [Terminators] as the made to order Heroes of the First Company. While lacking a Terminator Librarian and the appropriate number of Terminators armed solely with power fists and storm bolters, this offering seemed like a great way for hobbyists to get ten Terminators (they would just need a few more power fist/storm bolter Terminators and a box or two of Genestealers). I have the Rise of the Orks game and a few of these Terminator models are in there, and I think they are great as an entry. Naturally, I forked over my hard-earned money for a set. So I've begun yet another project. It's still very much a work in progress, but I figured I'd leave this here as a teaser... No, nothing on that "card" is final. And no, players won't need to buy the Heroes of the First Company to use these rules (if/when I ever get them finished). I figure that anyone that already has the Space Hulk game doesn't need this, so I'm crafting this around players that don't have the Space Hulk game. I expect to use the Gallowdark terrain (I guess it's a good thing I created the Gallowdark Map Workbook ). This is currently envisioned as a Mission Pack for Kill Team - standard Kill Team rules with a few Space Hulkish things added on to evoke the older game. And for those that have their own Terminator models, I'll probably present image-less datacards for the Terminators so you can substitute your own, just for the cool factor. More to come...
  5. This popped up on Facebook in UK Article link now live: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/ovfew1bv/wield-the-power-of-the-gods-in-kill-team-blood-and-zeal/ https://ow.ly/htXq50V8kpM SoB vs Choas Cultists (My apologies if I am just out of the loop here.)
  6. So I think we all managed to miss this, but a bunch of Killteam stuff got updated on Thursday. Documents updated are these ones: I have not checked the actual updated content of any of these and there does not seem to be an article for this.
  7. Unit Name: The 4th Mootshire Elite Abhuman Line. Planet of Origin: Mootshire, 11th planet in the Aver Expanse. Commanding officer: Lt. Col Reginald Trik Regimental appellations: “The Bluebonnets”, “Reginald’s Irregulars”. Notable disciplinary records of 4th MEAL. Fixer: Trik, Reginald - Lt. Colonel M41.2346 – Regimental officers mess hall storage facilities on Tanit Rex are robbed ahead of highly anticipated planetary millennial Sanguinala celebrations during an Orkish invasion. Regimental Commisariat and Planetary Probators are unable to determine culprits. M41.2347 Col. Trik is charged with attempted bribery of a planetary official using cases of Amasec commemorating the millennial Sanguinala. Subsequent investigations yield no physical evidence and Col. Trik denies charges. Col. Trik reprimanded for Rapscallionary and unit is ordered to front-line duty as punishment. Administratum clerks never receive orders rotating 4th MEAL, resulting in prolonged rear echelon duties. Raider: Longbelt, Talbit - Specialist M41.2343 – Specialist Longbelt is arrested following a string of larcenies near 4th MEAL billeting areas while deployed in defense of Imperial Shrineworld Kalamath 2. Specialist Longbelt is arrested after numerous eye witnesses identify Longbelt in suspect lineup. 4th MEAL Billeting area is searched, and while none of the stolen items are recovered, numerous artifacts reportedly stolen from planetary ecclesiarchy shrines are found. Commissariat charges Trooper Longbelt with petty pilfering to avoid involving ecclesiarchy in investigation, planetary Relics are ordered “returned” in lieu of death sentence. Bomber: Gonbelly, Jasper “lefty” – Specialist M41.2349 – While deployed to Hive City Elicoth Primus to combat Mutant Cultist Activities Specialist Gonbelly is arrested following a series of devastating explosions within PDF barracks. Initially charged with treason and fratricide Trooper Gonbelly was spared the firing squad after investigations into the explosions revealed the vast majority of PDF troopers killed in the explosions were mutants. Cultist capabilities in the hive city dropped precipitously and the hive city was retaken in short order. Specialist Gonbelly refused to cooperate with any investigation and was released from custody following flogging for disrespecting senior officers. Battlemutt: Petunia, N/A No disciplinary records exist for regimental mascot dubbed “Petunia”. Big Shot: Longchalk, Curlin – Gunner M41.2352 4th MEAL was deployed to Coberus Decius (an Agriworld in the Aver Expanse) Specialist Longchalk was arrested after being apprehended during an attempted “rustling” of a small Grox herd onto an imperial troop lander. Longchalk was sentenced to 5 lashes per stolen grox, While awaiting the punishment to be carried out the Imperial holding facilities suffered a massive explosion and Specialist Longchalk was listed as KIA. No body was recovered from the blast, and according to Administratum records Specialist Longchalk has been deployed to all subsequent 4th MEAL conflict zones. Hardbit: Manglepie, Aldebrand “Aldo” – Private M41.2340 – Then Sergeant Manglepie is arrested at an NCO lounge on Ogydox IV following a massive brawl. Witnesses swear the fight is instigated by Sgt. Manglepie. Manglepie is demoted to corporal. M41.2341 – Corporal Manglepie is arrested following a violent exchange between 4th Meal troopers and local PDF officers. Witnesses interviewed by commissariat attest Corporal Manglepie was provoked (PDF officers reportedly made numerous claims that the “mutants” of the Abhuman unit be executed. Corporal Manglepie’s violent reaction left 3 senior PDF officers hobbled with severed Achillies tendons and shattered kneecaps. Corporal Manglepie is demoted to specialist and restricted to barracks duty. M41.2341 – 3 PDF officers are found murdered in the infirmary wing at PDF headquarters. Planetary Probators and Commisariate investigations identify murder victims as same officers assaulted by Manglepie. Manglepie provides material Alibi of himself on pict-feed sitting in PDF officers lounge during the time of the murders. With no other leads the investigation is eventually dropped. Specialist manglepie is demoted to private for breaking into PDF officers lounge and breaking restriction to barracks activity. Sneak: Brandysnap, Taffy – Sergeant M41.2347 –During the defense of Tanit Rex from Waghhh Goldtoof Sergeant Brandysnap is reported MIA after forward observation post is overrun and communication is lost. Sgt. Brandysnap returns to imperial positions as Waghhh Goldtoof begins its retreat following the death of Warboss Goldtoof. Sgt. Brandysnap claims responsibility for Goldtoof’s assassination, offering collection of Gold-plated ork teeth as proof. Sgt. Brandysnap is found guilty of possession of xeno-tech and dereliction of duty, however sentencing is unable to be completed as Sgt. Brandysnap is unable to be located by authorities prior to 4th MEAL being withdrawn from the planet. Sniper: Shortbottom, Maywit – Private M41.2351 – During a surprise inspection of forward positions on Charrius III Private Shortbottom is found to be intoxicated to the point of incoherence on ecumenical herbs by regimental officers and immediately sentenced to death. During the inspection the forward observation post came under attack by heretical forces. Private Shortbottom displayed exceptional bravery and martial prowess with over a dozen confirmed kills. Shortbottom’s inebriation is deemed “in line with unit standards” and his punishment is reduced to 2 weeks latrine cleansing for consuming intoxicants while on duty. Spotter: Bayleaf, Ogy - Specialist Specialist Bayleaf guilty of no fewer than 27 counts of Grand Larceny across 9 Imperial Planets. These thefts were discovered during Inquisitor Varicia von Orm’s investigation of Xeno’s activity in the region. No charges or accusations have yet to be leveled at Specialist Bayleaf per Inquisitor von Orm’s wishes. Individual has been marked for continued observation. Stashmaster: Furrows, Hildemund “Hill” – Sergeant Sgt. Furrows has been caught pilfering from mess halls and logistics depots. No charges have been official filed against the Sergeant, as he enjoys administrative protections from Col. Trik. Each reported instance of pilfering or theft has been ameliorated by “found” logistical orders approving the acquisition of the items in question. Vox Thief: Muggins, Clovis – Specialist M41.2349 – While serving in defense of Hive City Elicoth Primus, SPC Muggins is found to have broken sacred vox rituals and breached the vox networks of planetary PDF, Adeptus Arbities, and the planetary Governor. This discovery was made after SPC. Muggins began to broadcast the location of high-priority enemy target locations across the city on Arbities only channels. Subsequent trial resulted in a sentence of death, lowered to 3 months hard labor in light of services rendered to the defense of the hive city. Supplemental Information Regarding Auxillary Ogryn forthcoming. *Had a mixup with a double post last blogpost and "unpublished" the blog because I couldn't figure out how to delete it. Rather than have an unpublished blog in my queue I used this one...not realizing it would date it before my last post. Still learning how to navigate this blog occasionally. **Removed formatting issues
  8. I'll be using the Legionary Kill Team (gasp!) to represent my very loyal Fire Claws Adeptus Astartes kill team. There are three main reasons for this: No Primaris. It's not that I'm against Primaris. It's just that I'm representing a kill team from the Chapter prior to the introduction of Primaris. Librarians. The Fire Claws are known for having a large and influential Librarium and I want to include a battle-psyker in my kill team. Daemon weapons. The Fire Claws collect and, more importantly, use the relics of Chaos in battle. Models will accurately portray loyalist Adeptus Astartes, but will follow the rules of their traitorous brothers. I'll probably make datacards for each model (once I get them done and photographed, that is) so that I can use them in games without getting too confused. They'll be accurate to the official Legionary Kill Team, so usable in games, but they'll be re-named proper loyalist names. In the post-Captor of Sin Fire Claws, this is a Quæstor Squad - a squad jointly led by a Sanctifier (see below) and a Lexicanium and tasked with the covert recovery of Chaos relics. Here's the tentative roster (actual Legionary Kill Team rules hidden - just highlight the grey bars to read the text). Sanctifier Skeptukhos armed with a bolt pistol and crozius arcanum Legionary Aspiring Champion armed with tainted bolt pistol and power maul A Sanctifier is a cross between a lieutenant and a chaplain, a pre-Primaris precursor to the Judiciar. The Sanctifiers are the members of the Chapter tasked by the Conclave with recovering Chaos relics. While the Sanctifiers don't practice vows of silence like Judiciars, I'm going to model this guy so that his mouth is covered, evoking the concept. The "crozius arcanum" will be more mace-like. Lexicanium Vrotoktónus armed with a bolt pistol and force dagger Legionary Balefire Acolyte armed with a bolt pistol and fell dagger Honored Brother Adámastos armed with a boltgun and bearing an Icon of the Emperor Enthroned Legionary Icon Bearer armed with a boltgun and fists Honored Brothers are a special type of standard bearer in the post-Captor of Sin Fire Claws, the Icon of the Emperor Enthroned serving to bolster the faith and zeal of the Fire Claws battle-brothers. Veteran Brother Phriktós armed with a bolt pistol and eviscerator Legionary Butcher armed with a bolt pistol and double-handed chainaxe Veteran Brother Megasthenes armed with a heavy bolter Legionary Heavy Gunner armed with a heavy bolter Veteran Brother Oplophoris armed with a boltgun Legionary Warrior armed with a boltgun Each of the models will have purity seals, representing the fact that they have been tested for purity by the Conclave and have been found to be suitable to the task. These are most definitely loyalist Space Marines. It's just that the [Heretic Astartes] Legionary Kill Team rules give me the tools I need to accurately represent the team as I envision them. In the back of my head, there are plans to expand this to include other members of the Legionary Quæstor Squad Kill Team. The Anointed would be a Veteran with a lightning claw and the Shrivetalon would be a Veteran with a bolt pistol and a pair of power blades. The Chosen would be the most interesting, simply being the same character as the Sanctifier (Aspiring Champion), but replacing his power maul with a daemon blade (I have some Bloodletters and one of those may sacrifice his blade to the Emperor's Angels). I would avoid the reaper chaincannon, but most other things have loyalist counterparts.
  9. So this kinda got lost in the chaos surrounding the Armies on Parade stuff, but the 1st major Balance Dataslate of KT24 rolled out today. The following Downloads have been updated: Core Rules Update Log Universal Equipment Scout Squad Gellarpox Infected Inquisitorial Agents Novitiates Imperial Navy Breachers Void-Dancer Troupe Kasrkin Hand of the Archon Fellgor Ravagers Nemesis Claw Warpcoven Blades of Khaine Death Korps Brood Brothers Farstalker Kinband Hunter Clade Legionaries Chaos Cult Plague Marines Hierotek Circle Tempestus Aquilons Vespid Stingwings Main changes seem to be reducing the overtuned survivability of Warpcoven, Legionaries, Nemesis Claw and Plague Marines somewhat, tho Loyalist Marine KTs remain untouched for now.
  10. Been steady picking away at my Ratlings team for the last week, and been making slow but steady progress. I swear, ratlings are basically guardsmen on hard-mode. "Oh you want to paint bare faces? What if they were even smaller and always squinting?". I do really love this kit, but if you don't like painting faces its certainly one to avoid. Or don't. They're small enough most people wont see them anyway - live your life. I have two young children (4 and 6), a spouse that has recently started a new business requiring a lot of their time, an engaging full time job and a lovely home that requires constant maintenance and repair. Hobby time does not come freely in my house at the moment. I long for the days of my youth where I could paint for hours on end, however the reality of my current situation is that I often have to make the best of what I have. And what I most frequently have is 30-45 minutes after the kids go to bed and I finish up chores, before I go to sleep myself. I'm fortunate enough to have a dedicated hobby space that allows me to leave my projects out, ready to be picked up and put down as the opportunity arises, and children that occasionally enjoy painting along side me (on two old AoBR Dreads constantly re-primed for their efforts. Even in death they still serve) I mention this because my biggest hobby "win" this last week was something my kids helped me with, testing my new static-grass applicator. As the dust from the holidays settled I found myself with a few gift-cards and after doing a bit of research I purchased the Woodland Scenics "Static King" tool, along with the power cord. TL:DR on that is that it might not be the best on the market, with the power cord its among the top performers for an affordable price, and was easily available on amazon (no local store carries the tool unfortunately). I'd been wanting to try out the applicator since it had arrived and this weekend provided a great opportunity. My kids helped apply watered down elmers onto two cast-off pieces, shake the applicator, and apply some of their mother's hair-spray to the grass in between applications. The results were really great! The longest grass didn't apply entirely how I would have liked, but I believe that was operator error on my part rather than the applicator not being able to properly apply longer grasses. The more I apply the more skills/tricks I hope I'll accumulate, but honestly if this was as good as it could get I think I'd still be pretty satisfied. I can definitely see problems with crushing/compressing the fibers with repeated uses/play, meaning this will likely see more use in building display boards and dioramas than it will with high-use minis, but for this project its already a lock, and I'm VERY excited to finish up painting these minis so I can get to work on their bases.
  11. As part of the knives in the dark competition I started work on the Ratlings Kill Team, and their Ogryn allies. Special thanks to @Lysimachus for putting together this competition! I officially got started painting these models on Jan 12th, priming adding a zenithal to the team Assembling the team went pretty quickly, the ratlings were even smaller than I anticipated (notsurewhatIexpected.gif), but none of the parts were particularly fiddly. I'm going to magnetize the arms of the bullgryns at a future date, should be nice and easy thanks to the huge voids on the interior of the shield arm and the weapon arms respectively, but for now they're just kinda hanging out. I threw in the "Provisionally Prepared" model as well, might use them as part of a display board, might use them as an desk ornament at work, either way they're getting painted up to match the rest of the irregulars. I didn't have a particular paint scheme in mind when getting started on these boys, and as a result I was a bit slow-going on my base colors. I jumped in on skin tones just because I knew I wanted to do a variety, and had some fun mixing up different skin tons for just about all of them...even if its VERY subtle, so subtle you might question why the effort was made...but it was... Eventually I found the idea of a scheme I enjoyed (Prairie Ratlings) and the base colors started getting applied with a bit more zeal. All in all the project is moving at a pretty good clip. The ratlings are among the smaller models I've ever painted, small enough that I kind of wish I'd done them in sub-assemblies as I'm having to do a TON of touch-up painting on them. The flip side is that they're so small they paint up very quickly to start, so its a mixed bag. I'm enjoying working on the Ogryn's most at the moment, first time I've painted any and they're a fun sculpt. I picked up basing supplies for them yesterday, but will have a to wait a bit before I can get a test base mocked up as I'm waiting to buy a static-grass applicator, the idea being the team is operating in a meadow-like area, a first for me to try
  12. So from today's Sunday preview: I thought they'd stopped doing White Dwarf Killteams, but it'd be nice if they are coming back. Also, more stuff for the PvE mode is good. Edit: As stated by other users here and Games Workshop via a comment section, it is 2 new Combat Patrols, not Kill Teams. The new PvE stuff is most likely still Kill Team however, as afaik there's no PvE Combat Patrol rules.
  13. So I got the core rule book for Christmas and was looking through it to find the Deathwatch but looks like this book is just rules etc. And obviously the kill team app has a load of downloadable PDFs of kill teams for the game but what’s happened to creating your own kill teams with options of what models to take like previous editions? Was this the same in the 2021 version? I’ve only played the 2018 version and loved that one and couldn’t get on with KT21 but just wondering why it differs so much from the 18 version?

  17. Mods, please delete if this covered elsewhere. If it is, I have totally missed so apologies. The WarCom article on the new Brutal and Cunning WarCom outlines the Ratling Kill Team but also appears to mention some reinforcements that aren't in the box The starred mention has no footnote that I could see. So could a build option be a Ratling Fire Team with added Ogryns / Bullgryn power? Was there mention of this in the reveal stream? I haven't watched it. The build notes for the Ratling minis indicates that you can build them as a Kill Team with the fluffy operatives and as a more 40k-style sniper team. Wondering whether the build options expand into the KT roster building. Whatever way it shakes out, looks like a fun box set. Excited for it and I haven't even got my hands on my Hivestorm box yet!
  18. I feel like we should have a thread for this with the new edition being out for a little bit now. We've had S1B1 of KT24 release already (Vespids vs Tempestus) and S1B2 announced (Ratlings vs Tankbustas). If we're following the KT21 model, then we should be getting 2 more Boxes in this season and 2 seasons after it. Feel free to speculate on what Factions might be receiving Killteams, what sort of Terrain we might get, where future Killzones may be and discuss any rumours that may surface about future Killteam products.
