Good morning chaps, I'm currently replacing my old Death Guard army (played since 4th edition but did own the 3.5 codex) and I'm enjoying building the latest plague marine plastics. I'm not really sticking to the instructions as such, because the configurations therein are a little limited. I guess I'm a traditionalist in how I see my plague marines - bolters, plague knives and a few special weapons. I wanted to know about people's experience in using plague marines squads with fairly basic load-outs. I'm considering filling a battalion with the following: 10 plague marines: 2 melta guns, plague spewer, power fist, 7 bolters (strike squad) 10 plague marines: 3 plasma guns, blight launcher, 6 bolters (mid-field squad) 5 plague marines: power fist, 5 bolters (goal keeper squad) Not intended to be a full army list, but the basic core around which to build one. Are the squads listed above viable or do successful plague marine squads require those "new" close combat weapons to function in 9th edition? I've used trench fighters and virulent rounds in the limited amount of games I've played and enjoyed both strats.

http://i.imgur.com/wZmqKWE.jpg In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death. Kulvain Hestarius of the Death Guard The Dead Walk Among Us… (hyperlinks to finished models in here…when that happens) Greetings! Some of you might have come across my Night Lords WIP, Yes, shameless plug, while they will still be my main focus, I figured now would be the best time to start a little idea I had. I plan to make a small force for each of the Gods, sooo, First up, Papa Nurgle and friends! With the Death Guard in full swing for 8th edition, I’m going to start building a few for myself. If that wasn’t enough, I’m going to be fiddling around with “True Scale”; I want these guys to stand out a little more than the obvious Blue and Green contrast they will have when on the field with my Night Lords. For now, I’ll just be cutting legs and adding a bit of plasticard to make them taller. The fluff for these guys will be that they are part of Typhus’ Plague Fleet and are nobody special. That might change as things in the Galaxy change and ramp up, but only time will tell… (I know, sounds very Tzeentch…but “only death and decay will tell” didn’t sound right-ish…) Typhus: I’ve had this guy painted for a while now. The struggle will now be trying to remember how I painted him for my future DG. http://i.imgur.com/hFrFtRd.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/pnDmpym.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/jGA2eFB.jpg?1 Some quick work on a Squad Captain: http://i.imgur.com/YyWlMZX.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/Ho4OXgE.jpg?2 http://i.imgur.com/5A2e2yv.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/GoY9Sx8.jpg?1 I have this guy named and I’m really giddy to explain how I came up with the name (it’s nothing special lol)…but I feel like once I share I’ll have zero interest to build/paint this guy. So for now his name will be, B3th. Well. That’s all for now, CC always welcome and thanks for stopping by!

What do you think - is such a thing even possible? Is it realistic to expect they will release a DG multipart squad like SM mk3, mk4 and mk7/8 squads? First thing is why am I forced to hoard stupid starter sets to get the minis needed for a DG army? They need their own boxes. A tiny box of 3 totally uncustomizable, pushfit models is deffinitely not enough, no matter how beautiful they are I do not want DG to be yet another crimson sloughter marines release - arguably way better looking models than the 3rd edition scrap we have to deal with right now, but what is it good when everyone else`s got exactly same models. Models which are not even sold separetely...

I have not played 40K for years, but after reading about the recent PA series, and the news about 9th edition, I've decided I'm going to give it another try! Even when I was not playing, the 8th edition Death Guard miniatures really caught my eye. I loved the look and the variety of DG specific units and characters available, so the other day I picked up a set of the DG miniatures from the Dark Imperium box set. Even though prices are already going up for DI stuff, it was still a great deal! I've started putting together the miniatures, and I hope to get them all primed this coming weekend (depending on the weather). Even though I don't have one new miniature painted yet, I still ordered some things to expand on the DI set. Specifically, I got two more Foetid Bloat-Drones, and another box of Plague Marines. I think I may wait to buy anything else until the 9th ed rule book is available, so I can make some informed choices. I'll probably be mainly lurking for now, but meanwhile any advice for a new Death Guard player is always welcome1
