Desert Eagles wip

Beautiful work, but I'm really not sure about the glowing eye effect (although it's well executed)... I'd probably have gone with a very sharp contrast dark lens effect.

I don't think the damage is overdone at all... terminator suits are supposed to be rather ancient after all... rather than overpainting, you could try filtering some of them down to make the effect more subtle. Just my 2p's worth. :-) Excellent stuff though!

Just found this thread and I have to say this is some awesome work. Love the posing and conversions and that colour scheme is unique. I may have missed this as I skimmed a lot of the writing but are these guys using the DA rules? Also what colour/brand paints are you using for the yellow and green on the termies?

Can't wait for more

Cheers

Me 2 :teehee: . Your painting and modelling skills are awesome. Seeing this makes me want to get back to my Ultramarines and take a pause from all the rot...

Your terminators are so beautiful, it would bring a tear to my eye if you'd roll a one for armorsave...

Hey, guys, i'm overwhelmed by the kind comments and really thrilled my chapter seem to appeal to so many. Thanks!

@drizzt73: The orange is fiery orange (vallejo game colour) and dark angel green (GW)mixed together. The green on the guns are some kind of olive green from the vallejo range (name has rubbed of from the label) highlighted with desert yellow and the green on the eyes are mostly da green and scorpion green (GW). Hope that helps some.

Yes, i'll be using the DA list when heavy on terminators so they can be used as troops. After reading the new codex there's no doubt i'll be using that codex when building a biker heavy list. I might actually win a game or two with that list, but the coolest part is that i'll still get to use my techmarine on bike with some actual rules. :)

Thanks for that. With the yellow what do you use to basecoat it- is it Iyanden Darksun?

P.S did I say how much I like your marines.!

You're welcome. Actually, it's really only the orange and green mix over white primer ( or rather, i usualy paint a thin layer of colour early, say orange, to get a feeling for the finished mini and work from that).

Darksun is one of those foundation paints, if i'm not misstaken. I know lots of you guys like them, but in my mind they're lifeless, flat and horrible paints that dries too fast. I actually think it takes me more time painting a mini if i basecoat with foundation as i have to work longer before there is any depth in the colour again. Only use i found for them is as a substitue for priming when altering a mini, adding new bits or whatever, after priming. They even stick to resin pretty good, but thats about it for me. Guess buying the full set wasn't the best investment i ever made.

hail fellow Battle-Brother. theyre coming along great. how many TDA marines are you going to have in your army? and have you done any more work on that Landspeeder Variant? anyways ill check back to see how youre doing. hope to catch you on the boards soon Desert Eagle ^_^

best regards

kanan

Hey, great to see you back Kanan. Don't know really how many TDA i'll have in my army. I could, right now, field 15 termies + HQ...but i don't know really. I keep fiddling with my list. It all depends on the number of bikes i feel i can manage to complete in the given timeframe for the tournament i wish to attend (but due to the lack of progress i'm not sure it's all that realistic anymore to complete a 2000 points army in 6-7 months even with the minimum number of models on the board...). We'll see, i guess.

I fear the speeder is put on hold for a long time as it isn't a priority in my list anymore, and since the new sm dex looks so shiny i'm going to use that when fielding lots of bikers many many moons from now. Being able to field my techmarine riding a bike without any "count as" issues is a big + for the new codex aswell. But the termies will be using the DA rules. Hope i didn't break your heart now, i still think it's a wicked speeder. ^_^

What i've done since the last update is mainly assembling things, very little painting. But the chappie dread is just about ready for priming, as is a few more terminators and also one land raider ( FW pre-hersey variant). The raider was a real pain to put together. Lets put it this way, fw bits look wicked, but the fit isn't perfect all too often. I really had to use lots of violence to build the damn thing, and there are still nasty gaps that need gs filling. No pics now, maybe later.

Cheers!

Alright, this is going to be a rather picture heavy update, so i hope you can bare with me for spamming out all these pics reaking of "look at my shiny new toys". :P

Except for my count as Belial and the techmarine (counting as a regular terminator), the rest is pretty much just missing some gs work on their bases. I'll start with that later tonight and hopefully i can beat the cold and get a nice chunk of my force primed and ready for painting within a few days.

The raiders are pretty much straight out of the box, nothing out of the ordinary save for the forge world additions. I think i'll keep them that way...maybe adding the odd purity seal or so. Same goes for the dread and the drop pod.

There are 3 squads of terminators. The first, the squad almost painted, is intended to be used as mid range fire support. Hopefully the new wargear rules will rub of to the DA list at some point, and in that case i guess the sergeant can be used to soak up a few low ap shots...otherwise he will mostly just be looking cool. ^_^ The second is geared towards close quarter fire fights giving the heretics and xeno scum a nice crusty suntan with the flamer. I added the bajonets on the stormbolters to make them look a bit cc-oriented as i'm sure they'll wind up there sooner or later closing in with that flamer. The command squad of course has the intention of getting very close and personal while still bringing something more than knives to a gunfight. They're still to be tested on the tabletops, but hopefully they won't be a total embaressment. Otherwise i guess i'll have to learn to play them anyway.

Regarding the captain here. I know not much has happend since the last pics i showed of him, but I'm interested in hearing what everybody thinks of adding a pair of wings on his back. I never liked either the halo or the the winged crux i put there earlier, but i sort of fancy this. It will need a small amount of green stuff, but i'd appriciate any thumbs up or down on the wings. He will need some furhter work aswell as i really want him to stand out somewhat from the crowd.

well...that it. Thanks for looking. C&C appriciated.

Looking good with nice posing as usual and good use of the brass etch bits. You probably mentionted this earlier but looking at the models you have painted and what you have here are you planning on using DA rules for sort of a combined deathwing ravenwing force or am I way off base. Good luck with the assembly and priming, I too have been in a race with the cold to get as many models built and primed before it is too late.
fantastic as always ,i say go with the wings it adds character, you could also try with the wings splayed to see how that looks.great great stuff though i am not sure about the head choice on the serge in the first squad (but that is because i never liked that head) ;) keep up the awesome work  :)

Cheers guys!

@Gumbafish: Yeah, will be using the Dark Angel codex while heavy on termies...but probobly the vanilla rules when heavy on bikers.

@whiplash: Hehe, i know, it's a pretty expensive army. Think i might be addicted to fw-stuff. Makes everything look so shiny and all.

The banner comes from the previous veteran minis. I ordered a bunch of those banners when gw bits service still was worth a damn...before they decided to suck.

@Daemonclaw: Thanks. Actually, the head is from the brand new redeemer kit and it's slightly diffrent from the head that came with the older veichle kits (as i asume you are thinking of that head?) I never liked the old head either, but this is a good sculpt with great detail. I think it looks awsome to be honest.

Maybe not the best pic but anyway here it is...

@blood_raven_240: Thanks mate.

Messed around a bit with the techmarine. Been trying out to se if the stormbolter that comes with the drop pod could fit, cutting it down slightly in width and adding a few goodies like targeter and assult drill. Well, just for looks of course. Aiming for the gun itself to be a bionic limb that the techmarine equips himself with when on the battlefield. Anyway, i'm tossing between this and the previous version, a regular stormbolter...thoughts?

And just so you wont have to flip trough all the pages for the other mock up, here it is again:

Also, i'll be adding armour plates like shown below aswell as a few hoses and such.

Modelling, posing, painting and wow-factor. This guy has it all.

What's up with these Swedes? Are there any amateurish hobbyists in Sweden? Any at all? I've only seen pure awesome come out of that country.

BTW the bionic stormbolter wins hands down. What self-respecting techmarine would still have his original fleshy hands?
