Desert Eagles wip

Recommended Posts

That force seen together is going to look great when itsdone. I'm kinda keeping mine quiet from the boards until after Games Day out here. So its good to see you back in action continuing the development of your Death/Raven Desert Eagle battle force. ;)

Crazy how fast a year goes by when painting our stuff, aye? ;)

Thanks guys.

@Todd: It's been a year already? Damn, feel slightly ashamed of how little i've actually produced since then.... Oh well, hope this year will see more finished minis from both of us. But like i said before, the goal is 2 k by april.

Cheers!

@Vissah: Sorry mate, i don't paint the badge after any particular method...

Worked some more on my termie commander. The cape on his back still looks rather stiff, and unfortunatly the abs section is a bit bumpy (there was a nasty gap that i tried to fill.) Don't know how to solve that as the area is hard to reach and i feel a bit reluctant to tearing it apart again. I'll try to smoothen it somehow, but hopefully i can also hide it a bit during painting. But i feel he is getting closer to where i want. C&C appriciated.

Liking this a lot better than the earlier versions!! Was it easy removing the scorpions? Also are you making the studs out of plastic rod?

Anyways look forward to seing more from this log. If gotten a lot of inspiration from your conversions(espcially that beautiful apothecary ;) )

Keep up the good work!

@everybody: thanks for the support and love, cheers guys!

@BoJangles: I'm really happy that some of my minis can serve as an inspiration. That means a lot. The scorpions and whatever chapther specific icons there are on forgeworld minis is often quite easy to remove. Just shave it of with a sharp blade. And yes, the studs are cut from a plastic rod, dipped in glue and stuck in place. Perhaps not the best looking studs around, but they're an easy way (altough time consuming) of doing studs and they look pretty decent painted.

@Race Bannon: The sword is made mostly from the one that comes with commander culln. I've just shorthened it (cuse it was so fragile and badly warped anyway) and replaced the cross guard with one from a random power weapon (as in i don't know which sprue it comes from :) ) and a small bit of plastic cut to shape. Hope thats of some help.

Thanks for the kind words everybody! :)

Yeah, i know...i should really paint more...and i will paint more. Promise. It's just that i need minis buildt for the scarce game i occainsionaly get to play. And also because i really enjoy converting minis. :)

The scope is cut from the techmarine head that comes with the ravenwing sprues.

I think the force commander looks great. The over all pose and weapon load is great. Although I don't know if you'll be happy with a count as Belial with a mc sword instead of a pair of LC's, but its still a very flexible load out.

The FW bitz look really cool. The brass etched symbols look great. Its just enough detail to work and look great but not so much that its over the top. The head is a really good, tough, desert eagle commander choice. Its adds alot of character.

Love the direction. Good job. ;)

  • 3 weeks later...

@Todd: Yeah, i know it's the lesser choice of his wargear. But i just didn't like the way the claws looked with that head. Just too savage and maybe a bit too wolfy. He didn't look much like someone gifted with strategic superiority. So thats the reason i went with pw/sb over claws... but cheers for the comments, i always appriciate what you have to say.

Thought i'd post an update of a painted mini for a change. Obviously still need to paint his arm with the stormbolter. Also left to paint is the small eagle scene at the top hatch as well as the base which is only base coated. But altogether its not that much work left on this terminator. See, i actually do paint once in a while. <_< But i must say, i did feel a bit rusty at the begining since i hadn't really painted anything for a couple of months.

@Squiggoth (and anybody else intersted): Hope you're reading this. Finaly got my thumb out of my ass and got me some bottles of coat d'arms paints. They're pretty much the same as the old citadel paints. Atleast as far as the actual "colour" goes. The DA green is a bit on the glossy side tough...atleast compared to my very very old bottle. But i'm really happy i could get my hands on some fresh elf grey. Cheers!

C&C as always appriciated

I know you cut your speeder open like a fex would have done. I really liked the idea of the Dread-vents on it and got an idea, Since you want an aerodynamic model I figured you could try putting the vents under the model instead. That way they would fill out the gap instead of looking wierd comming out from the top.

Love your models, both painting and modeling. Lycka till i fortsättningen! :nuke:

Toooo much to say, I could rave for hours. I've just dug through all nine pages, and I'm extremely impressed, to say the very least. Great execution of colours, cool theme (who doesn't like done up bikes?), awesome use of bits (I love bit conversions and creativity too), excellent painting quality... it's all there. The makings of a seriously great chapter. Please keep up the good work, all the praise you're getting is truly deserved, and this would be just beautiful to see completed :o Kudos to you man.

@everybody: Thanks guys, you're all way too nice, i humbly bow for your kind words. Appriciate it.

@Terminatorinhell: Yes, the torso is from the fw space wolf range...only the arms are from commander culln btw.

Update: Yay, almost finished with the second..and first termie...as both only needs there bases painted which still only got some base coating done. Unfortunatly i got some dirt or whatever in the paint (or possibly stroking the brush over paint that hadn't completly dried) leaving a nasty bumb on the barrel. Hopefully that will be a bit less noticable once i get around to sealing them with a coat of varnish. But i won't bother with it, i know it's there. Also, looking at the pics, i realize the guns look a bit to clean compared to the rest of the minis, so i'll probobly add some damage to them aswell. But anyways, here they are.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked :)

These are incredible figures, the attention to detail is amazing.

Have to say that the Terminators are my favourites so far and I look forward to seeing more of this army :D

Good work.
