WIP scrap/scratch built Khorne Dreadnought

Recommended Posts

WORK HARDER YOU LAZY RUNT *daemonette whips you*

With distractions like that, how do you expect me to get anything done?? :)

@Bloodwraith: Thanks, I am looking forward to it too, mate.

@Capt. Taurus: Glad you like it and are going to steal the idea. I would love to see what you come up with. I already have plans to build a loyalist one, but don't know when I will get to it.

As for updates, I have been trying to get a bit done on the dread, but I have a big comission job that I need to get done, so haven't been able to do much. If all goes to plan, I should have a pic update later.

Okay, had a little bit of spare time, so I did a tiny amount of work on the dread.

So here is where it is up to.

And here, just for something else to look at, is a pic of him on the operating table.

@Stella Cadente: Khorne can bite me. But I am glad more is wanted. ;)

@savage_heathen: I'm glad you like the dread. The legs aren't all that hard so far, just time consuming to get them right.

I wasn't happy with the initial posing of the legs as the positioning didn't look right, but I was too lazy to change them until someone on WargamerAU had pointed out the odd, boxy look they had. After sitting down for about 2 hours (i get side tracked easily :D ) to decide how I would go about changing the legs, here is the end result, hope it is an improvement.

And here is the all important size comparrison pic. It is getting quite big.

As always, I would like comments and criticism, please. :)

that's alright don't need daemonettes i will just have a word to his lovely fiance, i'm sure she can whip him much more effectively than a daemonette. Looking great as always mate, quite funny trying to sidetrack you and even funnier when it works.

If anyone wants to blame anyone for lack of progress you can blame me, i talk to much and i change my mind even more often and baldric has permission to keep me in line with a two by four, it's a full time job.

I am still working on the lower leg mechanism. I am still deciding whether I want to do it in full detail or just do a quick job. Although, I have been playing around with assembling the full mechanism.

Here is a couple pic of what I have done so far.

And here is a pic of the guards I am considering using on the lower leg section. Not sure if I will keep them yet.

As always, comments and critism very welcome. <_<

Its coming along real nicely. I think you should keep the shinguards, just stuff the gap in the middle.

He is going to be massive when finished. What are you going to use for the feet part?

Keep it up.

Let me first say, that your conversion look brilliant so far. I would also recommend keeping the shinguards. How about that: let some blades stick out through the gap, i think something spiky on his knees would give him a brutal look.

And for the parts were you used bases. Keep the texture and paint it like hammered brass.

I think even some old Khorne miniatures had textures like that.

id suggest cutting off the tops of the lascannon exhausts.. i think in removing the flash supressor type bit of them it would look more like smoke stacks. however thats just my opinion. other than that its looking very very nice. keep up the good work

Thanks again for all the replies.

Regarding the smoke stacks, I like how they look at the moment, but that is because I have plans to green stuff them to make the flash supressor type things look more like exhausts.

Interesting idea to use the battery as a ccw, might have to consider that.

I am greatful for all the suggestions regarding the leg guards, but I am really starting to dislike them and have been looking for alternatives in my bits boxes. I am seriously considering scratch building them, besides, scratch built guards would be more suitable to the project as a whole. :o

As for the feet, I am still unsure what I will be using, but I should have plenty to choose from in my bits boxes. ;)

Anyway, I have done a little more work to the legs and there is still alot left to do. The rear of the legs have had attention as well as adding support pipes to the inner top of the legs and the foot mounts have also been added. This section ofthe dread is taking a long time, mainly because I keep changing my mind on what looks good and workable. Here are a couple more pics.
