Wow, all these guys look great, but I have a few critiques.

1) Too much blood on the chappy's left leg. It breaks up the model too much and it would look cooler if he just had blood sprayed onto his right side in an arc from shoulder pad to his entire leg to make it look like he just disemboweled some poor sod who was crawling out of the way.

2) The faces look boring. You could definitely use more highlighting on their heads (elf flesh with a bit of tallarn?) and/or battlescars.

Keep it up!

ok. long delay but i got a lot done:

first, the third unit:

PICS

i left out shots of the sarge as i posted some earlier on.

Then, current wip shots of the dread:

front shot

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x15/voropohaiah/HPIM1565.jpg

showing the pre-heresy style chest and head sarcophagus design. this angle shows off some of the piston work done so far on the inner arms. i really need to figure out how to make the greaves, though be sure that the ywill e ulky - as the model looks a bit top-heavy for now. the brown stuff needs a bit of sanding, though with a quick coat of matt varnish efore its undercoated, it will be ok to paint - plus i can paint up any bad bits as battle damage

right front view

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x15/voropohaiah/HPIM1564.jpg

this shows off the shape of the body a bit more - which should e a bit familiar to those of you who have seen pics of the HH artbook pre heresy dread. the pauldrons are one of the smaller armour plates from the defiler kit, which i think work perfectly for the model.

right rear view

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x15/voropohaiah/HPIM1563.jpg

details some of the gubbinz on the rear. the hip joint is from a defiler, as is the under-hull-torso thing. power pack is from a sentinelside plates are vents from the defiler back and the arms are repositioned sentinel legs, with plasticard rod additions.

left rear view

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x15/voropohaiah/HPIM1562.jpg

same details as the previos pic but from a different angle.

left front view

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x15/voropohaiah/HPIM1561.jpg

i still need to add quite a bit of stuff to it, primarily:

  • grill-vent between hull and power plant
  • GS work on the hull above the head
  • add the greaves
  • and most blatantly. the arms. im pretty much winging it with them, as i did with the rest of the vehicle really, though twin lascannon on the left arm and chainfist/heavy flamer on right arm. chainfist will be 100% plasticard

Alrite synapse, your sculpting and converting is brilliant and i have taken allot of inspiration from your work, can agree with the smooth surface problem as well... a coat of paint will never sort it out! :)

am most impressed with the killy dude, i think that pose not only epitomises (spelling?) the world eaters but it epitomises the shear power of a marine against a man, brilliant bud.

I did want t pick your brains on one thing... when you make your cloaks, do you make the basic shape first then sculpt on the movement and flow of the material or do you go mental and do it in one go?

Cheers bud.

ive done both. the power armoured leader (the one with the pole chain weapon and the big jawbone on his right shoulder pad) has a cloak made from a template, with the GS placed on the model and prized and pulled and pushed into the shape i wanted. the terminator chaplain just had a huge chung of GS in the vague shape of the finished item placed on his back, which was then sculpted into shape. i did have to place some 'supports' made from dry milliput in places like between his legs to keep the GS cloak from loosing its shape until dry. once his claok was dry i took a knife to the edges to get them straight.

i think now ive tried both methods ill go for a mix of the two on the next cloak.

Scale shot?

ill get one up by the end of the week with the finished shots

add a Fellblade to that WE force :)

there is one already :P its probably a few pages back - the painting isnt quite finished but its getting there

Still amazing ;) such an inspiration - I thought my truescaled guys were looking big, but they in no way achieve what you've done here

Btw, I can't find any pics of the sergeant you said you'd already posted. Any chance of some more, just in case I've missed them?

Synapse: Dude what more can i say that has not already been said!?!?!?!?!!!!! Your true scale's are absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!!! I have looked at the link you have for your tutorial and have followed your step by step guide (which is awesome btw!) and started my own WE bad boys. Legs are all lengthend and body is ready to be put on them but as far as sculpting goes, how do you do the bar things like what the assault marines have on their chests? Do you roll out the GS the shape them into little squares and put them on or is it directly sculpted on to the chest? That is the only problem chest-wise i think i will encounter?! Aslo the ProCreate, you seem to use it in all of your models, is it really THAT good? And lastly, that dread looks.....looks.......dude i don't know what words to use??? AWESOMESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the great work look forward to seeing more WIP pics!!!!

pre heresy iron armour imperial fist.

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x15/voropohaiah/HPIM1268-1.jpg

I think I'm gonna do this, but just for the shins, and call them Power Feet. Those count as close-combat weapons, right?

Anyway, I'm in awe at the scale of these conversions (no pun intended), both in scope of mods and size. :)

It just seems to me that these guys are beyond 'truescale', and verging on pointlessly-large-scale. Not to discredit the work put into them, but they do seem God-awfully huge compared to normal GW models. (that termie is over 2x the size of that guard!)
