Grimfoe
Excellent conversion on Godsmote. I think he is my favorite. Good job Mav! :D Couldn't agree more. Very dynamic and well thought out. MaveriK
@dublindawg, thank you for dropping by and making the time just to say hello. Goodluck on your models!@Beef, thank you wolf brother! I wanted him to stand out from the rest of my Wolf Guard Terminators. It's always nice to see you on here, you haven't been around much in the Fang.@Night Runner, thank you! it's always nice to hear from another skilled master in the hobby. Godsmote's fist? wolf brother Nacho Wolf answered his own question in his reply in an earlier post.@Token, see the above reply, and thank you for looking!@Lord Ragnarok, haha thank you boss! wait until you see what I have in store for the future! if you think Godsmote was good, I'm almost scared to show people what I have on the works. Not to mention my regular looking Vlka Fenryka Rune Priest.@Grimfoe, thank you, I wanted to step away from the norm and try to be original with my models and army as a whole.---- PIP, he belongs to my second Fenris Hunter pack (Grey Hunter/Grey Slayer) PIP, I just wanted to show everyone that adding or doing a simple and easy modification to the backpack, can realy make your model look unique and its helps make the model stand out. Sorry, it's hard to see in the picture.. I plan on taking better pictures under a different light/room once my army is complete.---- WIP/PIP. Slow and steady... but I'm getting the hang of painting vehicles, I still hate doing them but at least I'm starting to warm up to the idea. I still have to add subtle mud weathering on the tracks and on the sides. Not to mention wolf her up a bit more.--EDIT--Thank you for looking! C & C welcomed. Dahli Llama
The Rhino looks great! I like the Grey+Brown look, and the the tracks running over the top is a neat effect. The battle damage is looking good, though I might suggest adding some bigger chunks of silver, and leaving other areas clear just so it doesn't look too uniform. Dahli Llama
The Fenris Hunter looks great. The unarmored arm seems a bit weird, but somehow you make them work. I love the additions to the tank. The banner on the side, and the dozer blade look awesome (where did you get that dozer blade?). I like the use of the Kroot pouch thing. I was actually digging through my bits last night and found a bunch of leftover kroot stuff. That stuff will look great on space wolves. robertlee
I like the models that are missing armor in places. It really makes them look like they have been scrounging for armor and weapons. Wulfebane
I like the upgrade to the Grey Slayer. A puny little chainsword wasn't cutting it. I especially like the glove for some reason. As for the other arm, I like the concept, but the arm looks out of place. I'd consider maybe a small shoulderpad from somewhere or maybe just shaving down the deltoid a bit. Atm it kinda looks like it's bursting from the suit. I like the Blood Claw, particularly the spikes. He seems old, with that head. Plus, I don't know if it's canon lore or just Black Library fluff, but Blood Claws weren't allowed to grow beards until they were accepted into Grey Hunters...hence Ragnar's babyface! Either way, looking good! but omg, I love that giant banner/curtain on the rhino! I could spend time looking it up, but you're fairly prompt. Where's that from? The Son of Russ
Yor work still amazes me, and the way you are not scared to change something you slightly dont like. Like with the guy at the beginning of this page, you changed his weapon to a maul. I wouold never have the balls to do that. Plus it's time consuming. MaveriK
@Dahli Llama, thank you! the shoulder thing might get re-worked to make it look more believable, at least for my eyes! as I'm VERY picky with my work. It's not complete until I am content with it. If I had any GS skills then things would be different. Sadly since I don't.. I have to constantly push myself to use what's available and try to be original with my work. As you've seen throughout this thread, I'm not afraid to change something up if I find that it does not work. Or maybe its an OCD thing?! I'm one of those neat, organized, clean and tidy type. I tell my wife.. that I'd make a good housewife one day LMAO. The dozer blade, I've had laying around in my bitz box and I think it's from an Imperial Guard tank. Yes, Kroot bitz are awesome! I try to use what I can from them. @robertlee, thank you! @Wulfebane, as I said above, when I have the appropriate bits to cover up the shoulder I will add it on. I'm constantly re-working my models as you've seen, to upgrade them to make them look better each time. As for my Fenris Blood, you forget that my wolves are based on my fluff. They got lost in the warp during the first great hunt. I do realize and know that normal Blood Claws usually don't look older. But since my fluff are about a lost warband under the then first Great Wolf Bjorn the Fell-Handed.. my Fenris Bloods, are pretty much seasoned like the 13th's Storm Claws. The giant banner I wanted not only to have a nice wolf icon on it, but I also wanted to make my rhino apc to look savage! my influences come from Adrian Smith's Space Wolves artwork from the Collected Visions, and Frank Frazetta. I think the banner came from Warhammer Fantasy Beastmen. @The Son of Russ, balls deep buddy! balls deep! LOL and thank you, it's just like life.. don't settle! and don't be afraid to take risk. ---- WIP Long Fang, concept. WIP Long Fang. Machine God
Hello Maverick. I really like that Long Fang conversion. Although when I saw the launcher it said Mortar, then I worked out that the base plate was a blast guard. IG perhaps? It is still a pretty meaty launcher. Why does he need an Axe for CC, just have the Axe head attached to the launcher as a CC-attachment. MaveriK
@Darkseer, good eye and great minds think alike! I only wished some of the SW heads looked just as cool. I really HATE that half haircut guy! What were the designers thinking?@postal105, Imperial Guard rocket launchers. Their cheap, and their plastic.. but most of all, they are easy to get compared to trying to buy and get actual SM missile launchers.@Scion of Ferrus, yes sir! Imperial Guard rocket launcher. Why does he need an axe for CC? why not!? people need to open their minds when it comes to conversions. Long Fangs are armed with close combat weapons, so I went with the axe. And to be honest... if I attached the axe head on the launcher, the whole model would look off and ugly. He would have an extra arm, that's really doing nothing. You really have to think about the missile launcher itself, it's a long piece so adding an axe head would not only make it look longer, but it would make it look ugly and excessive.People really need to find the right balance when making and building their models. You have to go with the motion and action of the pieces, make them work together instead of against each other. It just shocks me when people don't find the right symmetry. I hate static poses, if I wanted static miniatures then I would play chess instead.----what do you see when you look at this? is it trash? or just a junk piece? ...I see potential. Wulfebane
I think what really makes Godsmote Arjac the most dynamic is the use of the chaos shoulders. Allowing the arm to raise up a bit more makes the pose seem less stiff and more energized. A really great desicion and fit. I despise you for making me want to spend money on chaos...but then I think about chopping them to pieces and it's all good again. :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211665-vlka-fenryka-wippip-warband-fluff/page/6/#findComment-2680465 Share on other sites

Bulweih
Brother, every time I make time to look at this awesome thread of yours, it hits me like a hammerblow-in the good way of course :cuss . I'll try and work my way through the stuff added since last I had the time to swing by. First, the guy with the hammer/maul instead of a chainsword: Probably the best choice to risk it and change him, plus the shoulder of the "naked" arm looks way better/believable with the grenade strap on top-very good work. Fith Godsmote: AWESOME JOB! Although I hope he doesn't compensate for sth. with that huge horn of his ;) . The idea with the chain and its coming to life with that huge fist (looking like a wicked wrecking ball all by itself) and that dwarf hammer-you're the man! The aged Bloodclaw looks like he's in for some axework on some unlucky target, just what one would expect from a Bloodclaw, excellent. You are the main reason I started buying chaos boxes to take them apart-thanks for the inspirational work brother. The Long Fang looks good with his IG rocket launcher, me like. I found some older SM launchers which look quite similar but have a rocket mag attached. The way he holds the axe doesn't look right, however that might be the angle of the pic. It looks too close to the body for a move. The apc: First off, I like painting vehicles, not for the process but the results, that's my motivation too. Think of this, I had to paint two fully assembled drop pods, now that's a pain in the back for all those angles where your brush can't go! A Rhino is compared to that, a walk in the park, really is. The key to success is patience I guess. On vehicles the progress is not showing as soon as with single models. Don't overload them, because it's making that even worse. As to the model itself. I really dig the banner and the skull with horns on each side door, nice. The cupola on top could do without the smoke launchers imo , because they seem pretty useless for just one side :) . The shield on the front plate is just like the icon on the back door the right amount of bling for the apc, not too much, just right. I haven't done any rust stains yet, so I can't comment on those. But for your weathering on the edges, that seems to be to uniform as brother Dahli Llama stated. Also it's not the same with worn armor as with tanks. Where on worn armor the edges do get chipped color on the regular and it looks believable, tanks just get chipped of paint on the outside and lower edges(except the constantly grind the sides on house walls), as well as the front and rear edges. The armor encasing the exhausts is not so likely to get chipped of, but maybe your guys ran out of paint, that would make sense again. Why looks your Bjorn banner so relief like instead of being flat, like most I've seen? All in all, awesome work brother! And don't let it get you down when you feel like you are never going to finish your army, you are most certainly not alone brother, take dose of 13th warrior or the like and it will cure you ;) . Sorry for the long rambling. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/211665-vlka-fenryka-wippip-warband-fluff/page/6/#findComment-2680822 Share on other sites

MaveriK
The first 5 members of my second Fenris Hunter pack (Grey Hunter/Grey Slayers)@Wulfebane, haha you know I almost feel like removing GODSMOTE's shoulders just to prove you wrong again. Truth be told, even if I remove the shoulders, and added on normal SW terminator shoulders, I'm 95% confident that he will still look just as dynamic.IMHO: A lesson to all, and take it from me, from my experiences.. not one piece of added bits will make your model look more dynamic than the rest. To make a model look dynamic is to take and look at it as a whole. Remember symmetry, balance, and to go with the action and flow of the movement of the model. Godsmote's shoulders don't make him more dynamic, it only helps highlight and compliment every other piece that is worked on the model. Until you can see and realize this, then your understanding and eyes are at a limited potential when making your own models.@Dahli Llama, thank you! it almost rivals Leman's own drinking horn! I re-painted the drinking horn to look better. Leather straps attaching to the termi body is dark brown now, and the white horn looks more like actual bone, washed lightly with snakebite leather and dry brushed with white.@Bulweih, thank you wolf brother! it's not seen in the picture clearly but there are two smoke launchers. As for the Long Fang, he's doing a swinging motion.. shot off a missile and about to do a shoulder check tackle kinda pose. Also thank you for the insight on painting vehicles and finding that motivation to finish! really helps, and your long post are always welcomed here. As for the Trueclaw banner, she's a custom built banner.. mainly GS, and not like the paper cut-out ones we had during the 2nd Edition Bjorn model.@Wulf Vengis, thank you wolf brother!---- I put the GRR back to the Vlka Fenryka ALOHA... at least I'm trying to make them a good looking Long Fang missile SPAM pack.--EDIT--Thank you for looking!
