Love your stuff, looks great. The weathered army is something I've been wanting to work on for awhile now; I'm going to start once I get some time to work on my Flesh Tearers. I'll definitely be using your stuff from an inspiration standpoint.

Sent you a PM regarding what stuff is available up here for gaming/hobby shops.

Still loving every thing I see though I must ask...

Where is the Chaplain Sabaktes's bolter from? it looks Forgeworld, but can't find it on the site.

It's from the Gamesday MKIII boarding marine. Available to us via ebay - it's where I got mine. :tu:

@Mr. Malevolent: Thanks for the comments, glad the gladius guy worked out myself. Also, I saw your WIP thread...traitor. <_<

@Olis: Thanks, gonna get some gaps filled on the Pred today, I'll post another pic of it before I start painting. Oh, and go Ebay! lol.

@Vilicate: Thanks for the comments, and the info on the gaming groups. Feel free to PM me if you need any advise on the weathering, I'd be happy to help. Looking forward to crushing your Flesh Tearers when I get to Anchorage! (I kid, I kid!)

@Nurgling: Thanks! PM'ed you about the gladius.

@Slyen: Olis is right, the Boarding Marine was a gift from the wife, presumebly from Ebay (Can't say for sure, she won't tell me, lol). Thanks for the comments!

Speaking of Ebay, I'm happy to report that I just won a bid for a special suprise...here's a hint. It's got four barrels, and irritates horde armies...

Give it a few days to get here, and I'll get a pic up....until then, suffer.

Let me be frank - I really don't like your messy painting(style) - but I really and I mean really do enjoy your modelling and posing of your marines. I find your models very inspiring. So, thanx for the inspiration.

Cheers

Well, thank you for your comments on my modeling, and your honesty on my painting, but may I ask what about it that stinks? This whole army was about me pushing my limits with my painting skills and modeling abilities, so any tips or input you may have would be very apprieciated. Mind you, these guys are supposed to look all torn up, lol. I just want to get better, so please tell me where I'm failing.

This is about as well as I can do 'crisp and clean', just as an example...(warning, heretics inbound!)

I can see a little where this is coming from, but with a correction. The what you call a "mess" works on the armor and all tech, ,it gets the job done. When you put the whole army together (1000heathens, here is a hint for you) it has an astonishing effect. What I'd suggest to 1000heathens is to improve on painting faces, lenses, and anything not armor related...

Just take your time Brother, don't rush through. Might want to experiment with Flow Aid or any other acrylic paint aid, to slow the drying of paints, and really work those blends.

Don't paint everything the same manner, is the best advice I can give you.

But definitely love the battered armor effect.

i want to see more Night Lords!!!

First of, my apologies to you. I might have been ahhh...... a little abrasive earlier. I never meant to flame or anything. I just meant to say that I don't like the way you painted you MM's - NOT to flame your paintingstyle as a whole. Sorry for making myself very unclear.

Your NL's look awesome. Great posing - very crisp and neat paintingstyle. Particularly very nice detail-work on the lightning and the helmets/faces.

Your MM's are beatifully posed and composed, and offers a lot of inspiration to me when it comes to exactly that - composing and posing (which I often find it quite difficult to come up with ideas for)

But their paintjob is very not-subtle. I get the idea of marines so occupied with killing and slaughter that they don't care bout cleaning their armor (like berzerkers of khorne ect.) And battle damage, chipping and mud here and there looks good too. But imho they just look TOO scratched, scarred and muddy for my taste, thats all.

I hope that I managed to express myself more clear this time. Otherwise let me know.

P.s. I'm still a great fan of your models, and i keep watching this space for more of them :-P

@Plastichead: I'm sorry if I came off a bit stand-off-ish myself, I didn't take offence to your comments, nor did I feel 'flamed' in any way. I appreciate any comments and critisism. One of my old NCO's told me something a long time ago that I always keep close to my thoughts: "The only way you can learn how to do something right, is to do it wrong".

As for the paintjob itself, the OTT damage and rust was intentionally unsubtle, as fluff wise, the Marines Malevolent are extremley unsubtle themselves. Quoting from Salamander by Nick Kyme:

'Every suit amongst them, bar none, was patched and chipped...it was armour made to last, not in the sense of its superior forging or exceptionally durable craftmanship; rather, it was battle-plate that had seen hundreds, perhaps thousands, of victories and been strung back together and hammered into shape by any means neccessary in order that it saw another.

'But these warriors were hard-bitten veterans, every single one. They didn't have the forges or the technological mastery of the Salamanders. They were seldom re-supplied or their materiel restocked or replenished. They knew only war, and fought it so relentlessly and without cessation that their equipment was battered almost to destruction.'

I know I may have over done it sometimes, but I really wanted these guys to look like they've been through hell for 2,000 years straight, not just a long campain. It's less that they don't care to clean and repaint their armour, and more that they don't have the time and resources to do anything more than beat the warplate back into place and get back into the fight. Again, thank you for your critisism, and I'll try to tone down the damage a notch, lol.

@Vampire: Thank you for your kind comments!

@Melice: Alright, alright, I get the message...post a pic of the whole army, lol. I promise I will as soon as the Apothecary and the captain are done, which should be soon. My biggest concern painting wise right now is painting the fluid filled tubes on my Apothecary, something I've never done before. Any tips? And thank you for the advise.

@CMID: Heretics? Us? Pfft...we're the most loyal of any Chapter, it's just that everyone else is jealous. B) Good guess, by the way, but there's more... :D

Very good stuff as always.

Despite that you cannot convert me to the ways of weathered marines (I just can't bring myself to ruin my lovely paintjob that taked flipping ages to do). That and marine like to look after their armour, at least I like to think so. Pink frilly apron and feather duster.....

Though I may be tempted on other projects in the future.

Is there a full army shot sitting around?

The Night Lords look good man .. :(

Not every style is for everyone. I really enjoy the look of your MM, they have a unquie look that makes them stand out. My style is completely different from yours but it's always cool to see other's take on painting and how they achieve their finished products. Keep it up man.

I wanted to show a close-up of the axe head and handle. Yeah, it's very fancy and clean, and out of place in my army because....well, it's stolen of course! I'm pretty happy with how the blade turned out, but I'm not entirely sure with the black and green veined marble haft. Thoughts?

As requested, pictures of the army in it's entirety. Warning!! My new camera and I still don't get along very well, plus the light sucks down here today (very overcast out).

Still to do: 2 Razorbacks, a Predator, a Vindicator, a Land Speeder Storm, a Techmarine w/ Thunderfire Cannon, and probably another Tac squad with Rhino. *Sigh*

As usual Brother Heathens, excellent work!! :P

And who was the fool who said the Malevolents were heretic scum?..... :D

The Malevolents are the Emperors truest Warriors.......I get all emotional thinking about it...... :P
