When you swear a solemn oath to pick up the new codex, casually flick through it at the FLGS and Yell:

'None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me.'

Before leaving.

I need to have a "+++HERESY+++" ink stamp made up to censure the BT restricted parts of the codex.

With a Crozius-shaped handle. I'm SO DOING THAT. Expect this in my WIP thread :>

'nuff said.

When a conversation with your cousin goes like this:

"Lol, U tissed nt 3e dex out long ago" (talking about his grey knights/whatever they were back then)

"dude, i keep everything. I'm going to be  buried with my 4th ed dex. My gravestone will have a maltese cross, and either red, "only in death does duty end.", or "life is a prison, death a release"

"only in death would be better"

"You are judged in death by the evil you destroy in life."

"That's good too"

When you arrive to open the store early, and you know your coworker who plays nidz is working, and you put this in his cash drop box

When during someone else's game of WH:Fantasy the Templar with a Flamer that you were painting suddenly sneaks off to the gaming table...

"was not sure how he got there fellas, but did any of you use any magic recently?"

was my rely...

When asked by a new hobbyist to what army you're running you answer... "The most noble, powerful and single-most hated army in the history of WH:40k that they have been forced to be rolled into another Codex just to ensure that they get nerfed, the Black Templars..." then you borrow a Blood Thirster and in a mock simulator game single-handedly slay it with your Monstrous Chaplain... who did not get any bonus attacks for Charging, and has only 1 reroll to hit (Master Crafted)...

When asked, so how do you feel about getting rolled? you answer back: "I feel terrible about it, but that's just petty pride, I Accept Any Challenge No Matter the Odds."

"Is that part of you're rules?" the new Hobbyist asks... I answered: "No, Its my way of life..."

When after launching Space Hulk and seeing that there is no way of choosing BT skins you loose interest in the game :tongue.:

Edit about Dune:

So I was reading Dune wiki when I encountered a quote from the the Orange Catholic Bible, which is a Holy Scripture of the Dune Universe.

The quote went as follows '''...Thou shall not suffer a witch to live..." :Elite:

when you're seriously considering a tatoo reading "Accept any Challenge"

when, right now, you feel like a friend has died

when you would wear black in mourning, but you already do...duh

Black-Heart till the end

TEMPLARS!!!

Now that you mention it plasma-freak... should have posted this a while ago:

When you get this tattooed on your arm

Nice, I thought about doing a BT tattoo, but in the end I decided on Star Wars :)

I think you meant to post in the "you know you're not a black templar when" thread over in the paddlum subforum.

...In a galaxy far away? :tongue.:

A Star wars tatoo isn't that bad, as long as it's Empire related, and nothing to do with the filthy witches that call themselves Jedi. :mellow.:

You know you're a Templar when you find the original speech made by the pope when he called for the 1st Crusade, and then find out it is almost completely possible to edit the text to let it fit with 40K.:tongue.:

  • 2 weeks later...
You know your a Templar..... Thinking about this for a while, you know your a Templar when the fluff means more than the game, you enjoyed playing with righteous zeal, ran the emperors champion in a 500pt list be cause it felt wrong not to. even with an out dated codex, it felt like an honour to have a true Templar army that was built to fluff, you felt burnt as though you committed a heresy when you found out the Templars got merged, I will get the new space marine codex, purely so I can burn it. If we truly are Templars, why would getting the new space marine models be a good thing. If I wanted the new space marine crap. I would have played raven guard, at least I'd have remained black and white. Templar for ever. With a Templar codex, and mine shall not see a 6th ed game with a space marine codex.

The Crusade never ends. A Templar will fight with whatever is available to wipe the stain of the Xenos from the stars. My Templars will accept this change, but they will not let this insult go unrepaid. They will paint the tables red with the blood of every other army GW makes to remind them that it is the Templars who continue to fight for what the Imperium was, and what it should be. This update is like the changing of the High Marshal to them, the passing of a mighty hero into legend. Now it is time to start the next crusade and forge a new legend into the records of the Imperium. Something as small as this will not stop the wrath of my army, nor shall my men shirk from war because of some perceived slight. They won't waste time being angry at those who sit idle as the Imperium collapses, instead they will turn that hatred against the enemies of mankind. Only in death does duty end, and my Templars are far from that. Their Righteous Fury will cleanse the stars themselves of those who would stand against our wrath.

You know you are truly a Black Templar when it does not matter what book it is in, or what rules you are stuck with, you play the Black Templar because they are the only army truly worth playing anymore.

When you can't decide what angers you more about the new codex-the ability to ally with psykers not being restrictive enough or the supposed "reverence" we now have for navigators (my buddy's codex almost gained Flyer status when I read that)...though I guess there is a special round in my bolt pistol during warp transit, does that count?

When you realize they only named the new codex Codex: Space Marines because other chapters aren't manly enough to take an insult. Look at the codex, aside from special characters we can't take librarians (because we're not heretics) and they can't take crusader squads or sword brethren (because they're not cool enough to have them). Clearly we're not being the ones excluded, they are

EDIT: when the guy you sold your marines to (except for my HQ selections of course) and watch them almost lose to necrons...you remind him that of course that happened, you put the templars models in with the psykers

When an outside force attempts to change everything you believe, you break away and do what you think is right.

Im off to 30K, brothers. The land immune to Games Workshops clumsy fumblings and devastating lore changes.

... when after a long session of building and converting, you come to the conclusion that the reason your hands are covered in bandaids isn't because you're clumsy with an exacto knife, but because the miniatures are actually engaging you in close combat.
