Biohazard
Thanks guys. I'm really happy with how they've come out. I think in future I'll bring the squad up to 8. For now though I only need the 5. :) Gonna work on the Berserkers bases tonight so hopefully the weather will be decent tomorrow to let me get them primed. :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234115-biohazards-wip-projects/page/82/#findComment-4895251 Share on other sites
Biohazard
Started some work on my Terminators today. Still have a way to go and a few layers to add especially to the head. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/45E049BF-E262-469F-B337-0B753ECF321D.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/A552658B-867F-48A3-A770-CE8AE39789E1.jpg You can see here the Legion symbol I ordered from Popgoesthemonkey over on shapeways. I’ve noticed in these pics though I’ll need tidy up the bottom of the symbol where I cut it from the Sprue Hoping to have this squad finished soon. Then I can work on the Berserker squad. ElDuderino
Arrgh your painting skills are making me jealous. And thanks for pointing out where those symbols come from, I was just about to ask, very cool. How much are they? Edit: €20 for 60, seems very fair! SystemSyn
That Terminator is looking pretty bad ass! I love what you've done with the head, the scars are a really smart idea. Biohazard
Thanks folks, really enjoying working on these guys. Could only grab an hour or 2 today while my Minion was napping but managed to get the first guy pretty much done apart from finishing the trophy poles and highlight the skulls, http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/4A49C79B-AB18-47E4-8515-290C1B3518A9.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/2B186F3E-0CFD-44CF-9063-A58458DD1327.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/B822E460-2CF0-43FC-AC3F-236664430DD0.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/9C491985-1898-4EAD-B3F6-40AF6832D054.jpg also started blocking in the brass on a few of his squad mates so can hopefully work on them a bit more tonight :tu: rednekkboss, Vairocanum, Sagentus and 5 others 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234115-biohazards-wip-projects/page/82/#findComment-4898965 Share on other sites
Pearson73
Looking great, especially the yellow of the trophy helmet, it really stands out and adds some good contrast. Jolemai
How are you finding the time to churn all these out and do you have any efficiency tips you've discovered/adapted since being a new dad? Biohazard
Pearson73, thanks buddy. I really wasn’t sure which chapter to paint that helmet so I decided on Lamenters hence the pale yellow. I was going to try and add some chequers but decided it was too much work for a trophy, I may add the heart symbol on the helmet somewhere though. Jolemai, tips? I rarely sleep ha, honestly though I just grab time when I can. I really only get to work on these guys when my wife’s home or when the Minions sleeping. That’s why my updates can be really sporadic as well. I’m lucky just now that Freya still goes for a nap for an hour or two during the day. I also tend to only work on 2-3 models at a time. :tu: As you see above, I’ll prime them with the army painter dragon red, wash the whole squad with strong tone and then I’ll work on the brass trim on a couple of models, then the black, then trophies etc. I find it helps me to crack on through the squad this way. I’ve tried batch painting larger amounts and find it really demoralising. sockwithaticket
I like how livid the scar looks on the first guy's head. Brass face masks is a good idea too, bone might not contrast strongly enough with the pale skin. hushrong
That looks fantastic! The red and bronze look great and the same goes for the WE icon and the use of the primaris scout heads. Quixus
The paintjob is great, and stylistically the reiver heads fit perfectly, but I think they are too large and/or sit too high up. How are helmets going to fit into the non-existent gap between the head and the armour? I don't know why but for me bunny ears on TDA look much better than bunny ears on the berzerker helmets. I wonder how those ornaments would look on TDA without the trophy racks hiding them. Are the bases just cork and sand, darker grey under coat and several drybrushes of lighter greys? they look great too. Biohazard
Quixus, thanks you. Yeah Just cork sand and occasionally just some bits from my boxes. To be completely honest my basing method isn’t as involved as it used to be. Nowadays I have the bases black. I then dry brush Astronimicon Grey and add a heavy wash of Agrax/Nuln in a random mix. It’s quick and easy and doesn’t look too bad. Hushrong, Juggernut. Thanks guys. Here’s how they look now. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/07126791-E18D-425F-AB87-0BC5899CF751.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/27A5D2F7-9820-4BBB-8387-F902D7264DA2.jpg Squad is basically done I have a couple of the trophies to paint and the skulls on the last two need highlighted to the same as the rest of the squad. Biohazard
Thanks folks. They’re done, for now at least. There are a few bits and pieces that I’ve noticed since looking at the pictures that need touched up slightly but that was always going to happen when working so fast (fast for me anyway) They’re definitely ready for the table top I think. Like I’ve said before really happy with how this unit has turned out. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/56D48FA6-9110-4011-A981-C814F1BADB41.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/994A45CA-ACB9-40CA-B9D2-000A37B4B461_1.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/4029B641-27BD-47B2-84A9-B8FC56C8DB76.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/41D968DA-67CD-4689-A383-687E15471D7A.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/469CFF8F-E354-4EC3-B434-C4EC7F784F86.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/F2CCADC3-4E30-48C8-B992-F264D04377A2.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/D3183F93-7127-41E1-9716-D1895F5079C6.jpg And a closer look at Skull Champion Magua. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/2CA9236D-A4B9-44A3-A7FE-D31B955B24F4.jpg So I’ll be moving onto the Chainaxe Berserker Squad next.
