@Lord Sondar, no it wasn't intentional, It just turned out that way. Actually it was Brother Syth that told me that and I embraced it. He's one of my favorites.

@Preacher No'ki, Thanks, In person, the red has shade and highlights. I just wish i could get that on photo, oh well you want more that all that matters lol.

So, I'm getting a nice groove going.

I started the details on this guy:

Still have the gold to do and fix the belt buckle I didn't notice until seeing the photos.

I was thinking of making this guys hair (Head No.2) Greyish white to somewhat match the pelt. Let me know what you think?

I think I'll give that a try.

Here is head No2 with grey hair:

Let me know what you think.

So here is my last power weapon Wolf Guard. I just have to base this one and the others and part of my list is finished.

Well I think your guys look really nice, Brother Lemmy the confederate corsair is my favourite so far. I'm also quite jealous of your power weapons.

I'm not so sure about Red Corsairs as Space Wolves but you do seem to be pulling it off with style. Mind you I feel your pain with the Chaos dex., I am persevering with it for my Night Lords but I cant help wondering if I'm making a rod for my own back by not using any icons, Demon engines, possessed or pantheon troop types.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Punk, Brother Lemmy is one of my favorites too. I have more civil war heads that I'd like to add but not sure if it will work. Puppets of war makes some pretty cool stuff.

The SW's will grow on ya lol.

The Hatch is finished:

Left is the original that I cut out of plasticard years ago. The right is the resin copy.

I know this was a few pages back but I wanted to talk about that power maul osl. I thought the first attempt at it came off not so much as light but as frost (imho). However, given the whole space wolves/ frost weapons thing, that is a. not all bad and b. something you might want to try doing again if you have some more recent sw recruits. The reasoning I think I saw that effect was mainly because of the low variation in brightness between the source (the maul) and the marine. Even if it wasn't the effect you were going for I might steal for use as a frosting on some models. (hrm, yetizerkers... or nurgle worshipers of the frozen wastes...)

Thanks for the advice, ya that was my first attempt. The Maul is not bright enough. I have one more maul lying around. hopfully by the time I use it I will have mastered it.

Thats not a bad Idea Frost Maul. When you do, do one, send me a link or post here your result. I'd love ti see it.

Yeti-zerkers..lol

@Tanith Ghost, thanks. I find casting is a hobby on its own. It can be just as costly and time consuming... but very rewarding.

@Preacher No'ki, I like the blue as well, but It might be responsible for washing out the red. I'm actually looking around for other backgrounds.

update:

So I was playing around with this guy and got through him pretty fast.

Thanks for the kind words.

Here is another guy I'm working on

Should I give this guy a helmet? Or a SW head? In the last photo I painted an "X" on the backpack icon. I tried to make it looked slapped on, But I think it just looks like a messy bad paint job.

So I think I am winding down, I picked this guy up and all I did was highlight the black and the red.

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn268/Styrofoam04/20120730_0178.jpghttp://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn268/Styrofoam04/7b0779fb-1f8f-4188-a0bc-5392b9fb745b_zpse7e7125c.jpg
Here is a Before and after. (The before was taken a while ago)

Can you see the difference ... then why pay more?

In truth I can see quite a bit of difference between your before and afters. I'm a bit sad if you are winding down, I've been looking forward to more Corsairs from your brush.

I Think a Helmet more practical if a little less characterful or another Civil war head maybe with a kepi this time?

As to the X, trying to replicate slapdash work almost always looks slapdash. On my roman armour I copied the "mass produced"  bashed out by someone being paid by the piece look of the real ones and then spent years having to tell other re-enactors "thanks for the kind offer to teach me how to rivet properly but this is the shoddy finish of the real ones".

Thanks guys, I find that my black highlighting is very subtle and you don't notice it unless side by side with the flat colour.

@Punk possum I been wanting to paint a helmet for a long time now. looks like its been awhile. I think Blacking out the the wings and wreath is good enough, I think I'll keep the "X" for a marine not painted in RC colours.

Winding down happens sometimes. I'm still read through Forums everyday ...but my painting lacks.

Perfect example was the other day... I sat at my painting desk and stared at my RCs for a few hours. I didn't really have much motivation. I Just sat there.

I eventually picked up and older Chaos RC Model and added some OSL eyes and painted a Meltagun.

It's funny to see my old marines and how I used to paint. I had to go over the meltagun to make sure it fit the old model. (lots of dry brushing)

So My posts don't seem to be coming back... So Lets try this again shall we?

These guys are Recruits from the Malestrom or Marines Created from Geneseed that got currupted. He uses them to put fear in his enemies. They are erratic and unpredictable. They are not given the best weapons or armour. They accuire most of there gear from the dead. These units are sent up to front lines, for Huron cares not for their taint. He uses them and they are effective. A Sargent is chosen to lead them with pure Marine geneseed. Either stolen or a renegade. He will kill any that disobey and since they do not survive long, mutany is unheard of.

Over time these Sergents are watched and when they show signs of taint they are stripped of their armour and weapons and torn apart by Huron's pets. Those that survive this onslaught, are placed in a sarcophagus of a Dreadnaught. This does not happen often and the Red Corsairs do not have many Dreadnaughts.

9 Grey Hunters - 1 melta
1 Wolf Guard - Powerfist, Combi-Melta

I usually field them in a Rhino and try to get into 24" range. But if i was to foot slog them I'd add another Meltagun GH and put the WG in Terminator Armour, that goes for the other GH units I field.

Here is my Marine Squad. I had these commissioned by a friend of mine. They were painted by More Dakka. I had no motivation to to paint these guys. I got them in a trade and they had some pretty thick paint on them. More Dakka did an amazing job. I managed to base them and they fit pretty well with the rest of them.

Huron has Increased his army since Badab.  They are made up of renegade marines converted to his cause or Marines created from stolen Geneseed.  These marines are pure with no taint. They are loyal to Huron and make up the bulk of his force.  These Marines are trained as if they were Astral Claws. They are Space Marines with the exception that Huron has given them the truth.

Wolf of Fenris lexicanum Wiki: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Wolf_of_Fenris

"The Wolf of Fenris was a Space Marine Strike Cruiser of the Space Wolves Chapter that was captured by the Red Corsairs at the Battle of Parenxes, sometime after the Badab War.

Realizing that they needed ships to carry out their raids, Huron Blackheart, Master of the Red Corsairs, ordered an attack on a Space Marine patrol group of the Space Wolves and Flame Hawks Chapters near the world of Parenxes. In a surprise attack near the Parenxes star, Huron's forces crippled the Wolf of Fenris and damaged several other vessels (though all save the Wolf were allowed to escape). Using boarding torpedoes, the Red Corsairs first took control of the engine room so that the Space Wolves could not self-destruct, then a second wave was sent into the cargo bays. The third wave, led by Blackheart himself, entered at a point fifty meters from the command deck. Huron stormed the bridge and tore apart the ship's captain, Gnyrll Bluetooth, with the huge weapon that served as his right arm.

As the Red Corsairs' victory became inevitable, several Space Wolves turned on their fellows and threw themselves at the mercy of Blackheart. They renounced their pledges to their Chapter, Primarch and Emperor, and swore allegiance to Huron. As reward for their allegiance, Huron granted them command of the Wolf of Fenris, which is now part of the Red Corsairs' fleet."

And these are the guys I was working on.

This is a great army. I like the renegade wolves, I've been interested to see if anyone has any ex-fenrisian corsairs since reading the gildar rift and yours look terrific. I also like the general lack of chaos spikes (thiose are for millennia-old traitor legions, after all) but more than anything I absolutely love that corsair icon you made for your rhinos.

Cutting that thing out of plasticard must have taken forever. Do you have any tips for doing that kind of thing?
