Thanks for the replies guys!

Those Salamanders are very nicely modeled. I look forward to seeing them painted.

Paint !!!! :biggrin.:

Ahhh, you guys should know better than that by now XD

Great conversion work on these Marines!

Thanks for the kinda words everyone!

Seeing as you asked for paint, I thought I would oblige, but totally not on any Space Marines, because that would make sense.

I've made a start on painting my Sisters of Battle... kinda

med_gallery_33843_5957_140384.jpg

And for something completely different, I decided to paint a Tech Priest Dominus.

med_gallery_33843_7958_29259.jpg

Going for a very Dark Mech look for this model...
I should note that this scheme wont be the one I use for my Ad Mech when I get round to them.

So.

I've been doing some more hobby. Huzzah.
But to be honest, it has slowed down a little (holiday, buying more hobby, other stuff)

I'm coming up on my imminent unemployment, and my productivity is dropping off to be replaced with existential dread haha.
I digress.

You came here to see things.

I've been working primarily on getting the Space Marine armour built.
So First off we have the drop pods.

med_gallery_33843_6479_85452.jpg

med_gallery_33843_6479_95279.jpg

I would have finished these.... but I wanted some brass etching (which I forgot to buy on my last trip to Warhammer World :( )
And I needed to know how to paint them in stages.

Now that I'm aware of the process, and once I get myself some etchings, these guys are good to go!

Next up is the Vindicators.

These are my old vindicators.
There was nothing 'wrong' with them per-se, but I just wanted to make them more secure, get a few mold lines I'd missed, and fill in some gaps

med_gallery_33843_6479_127639.jpg

med_gallery_33843_6479_277677.jpg

I decided to do the sisters ones at the same time, as I never got round to them before either.

But yeah.
I now have the Multi Melta's I need, as well as some extra Salamanders shoulder pads, which should be enough to finish off the Devastators.
next step is the Dreadnought, so... look out for that one!

Anyway, that's all for now.
I'm hoping I get back the hobby bug once I've sorted through my horde of new things haha!

Half a month eh?
well, a lot has happened. I am officially 'unemployed' now after being made redundant.
I had some agency work to fall back on, but times may be tough in the coming months... we'll have to wait and see.
Good job I have enough hobby to last me until the end of time right?

So, speaking of hobby, let's move on with some.
A while back I managed to get myself to Warhammer World in Nottingham.
If you are unaware of this magical location, it is GW's head office and as such has a Forge World shop.

I got some bits and bobs; namely, 5 multi metlas (the resin under slung heresy ones) for my salamanders.

med_gallery_33843_6479_12494.jpg

The cleanign up wasn't too bad... a good deal of flash between the melta barrels, but nothing a good, sharp knife couldn't fix.

med_gallery_33843_6479_175158.jpg

This was the main problem.
The power coils are straight and to not be.
Bending resin is not one of my all time favorite activities.
I always feel like I'm going to bend it too far, or it wont be warm enough and then break or I'll melt it with a hair dryer.

With a little effort and some patience I managed to make a start.

med_gallery_33843_6479_19844.jpg

Have done the rest, will post with pictures of each individual devastator, and again once I've added details and green stuffed some stuff.

The Power armoured contingent of the Salamanders is almost complete!!

Update!

Some more Space Marines for you guys seeing as I'm trying to stay on top on my work load.

The Devastator squads are getting there.

Built them all, I know I said I'd post when they're fully done, but I thought you'd appreciate an inbetween post...

I know, I know, it has been a while.

Being made redundant a while back really hit me hard emotionally and financially.
Lucky fr me the cover work I spoke of has carried me through just about, but November, December and January where not comfortable for me.

I did a bit of hobbying here and there, but didn't really feel any joy from it... in fairness I didn't feel a great deal of joy form anything.
Over January though my mood has improved, and I've focused on making as much progress I can, in the areas under my control

One of those areas is my hobby.

Sometime in November I set about the task of basecoating all of my Sisters of Battle.

This was a pretty long and arduous process, especially considering
a ) I'm a terribly slow painter
and
b ) I hate batch painting
Purples, Greens, Browns and Blacks (for the black parts and in anticipation of the metal parts)

I'm happy to report though that they are all done... or hey were, until I acquired some more XD
( I couldn't turn down the new canonness and plastic Celestine!)

med_gallery_33843_5957_154146.jpg

That's a lot of girls!

Here is what they look like up close

med_gallery_33843_5957_66460.jpg

It took me until late December to finish these basecoats, and then I took a break from them and did some work on some other stuff (which I have subsequently completed, so expect pictures soon)

I'm going to try and forge ahead.
I imagine I'll get distracted at some point though, so no promises.

Thanks for reading

Yus.
More updates

After basecoating all of my Battle Sisters I was pretty burnt out on them, so I decided to do some other painting bits and pieces as a 'break.'

I moved on to something Sisters of Battle related at the very least.

I generally run Uriah Jacobs in my list. (You can see the un-painted version here - http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/238077-darkhazzl3s-armies-of-the-imperium-a-wip/page-3)

So I decided to paint him up with some Imperial Priests.

As with Jacobs, my priests are a mix of Empire/ Free People Flagellants from WFB/AoS, Necromunda redemptionists and Imperial guard bits.
The scheme may look like a generic red priest scheme, but is actually based on some real life stuff, most notably Jacobs.
Cookie to whoever can guess what it is from ^_^.

med_gallery_33843_5957_180193.jpg

A bit of a close up so you can see what they're like (also I really like how I painted the hair on this one)

med_gallery_33843_5957_40603.jpg

So there we go.

As always Constructive comments, criticism, feedback/ general related conversation welcome.

As an Armies of the Imperium fan, I obviously had to get the first Triuvirate.

Inquisition, Ad Mech and Sisters of Battle?
yesplzkthnx

I set about building the Sisters first (I did actually build Grefax first, but ya'know)

They're a bit fiddly, especially Celestine.
But I got there.

Here they are, with my marble style basses to go with them;

med_gallery_33843_5957_301826.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5957_53681.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5957_69780.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5957_186606.jpg

med_gallery_33843_5957_6238.jpg

The eagle eyed of you will recognise that base from a previous post.
Yes, I canabalaised my old Celestine base for the new one.
Fear not though, the old one will be getting a new base...I'm not abandoning her just yet!

All that's left is various girts of sand and cork dust to make the rubble and they're ready to be primed,

I am stuck in two minds weather to keep them in their original colours, or to use something different that will tie them into my current Sisters of Battle more.
It'll be a good while before I paint them, so I've got time XD

So, the new 40k came out...

I'm not totally sold yet.
Mechanically I can deal, however, it currently lacks flavor.
This is something I think the new Codex books will add in, and when they do, I'll be back in it.

But until then, I think I'm mainly gonna play AOS, Bloodbowl and other stuff.
To that end I've mainly been doing some AOS painting.

But I have done a few things here and there that you fine folks might like...and if you follow me on Instagram you've probably already seen XD

Let's start with my Imperial Knight shall we?

I finally decided on a scheme ( I think XD )
I'm going for house Terryan, but with a significantly higher contrasting colours; more depth, gradients and richer colours all around.

This is my tester shoulder pad (I for some reason ad one spare)

med_gallery_33843_7958_81312.jpg

I'm also not a big fan of the Terryan transfers.
I know there is a third party resin pad available, but it just doesn't quite look right to me, so I decided to have a 'quick' go at free handing the iconography.

med_gallery_33843_7958_149750.jpg

med_gallery_33843_7958_99495.jpg

med_gallery_33843_7958_56984.jpg

I know the eagle isn't quite right, and the Diamonds are also placed slightly weirdly, but then, this is why we do tester models, right?

That's all for now...

Expect updates to be coming, but slowly... it's hard to find the drive to paint models for a game you have no intent on playing for a good few months haha.

T-H-R-E-A-D-R-O-M-A-N-C-Y

I've taken a big break from 40k.
I mentioned in my previous post about not totally being sold on the new 40k, and my opinion hasn't really changed.
It lacks flavour, it lacks theme based mechanics (which is the draw of a game like 40k) and it lacks finesse.

I think I'm going to stick to AOS for gaming for the foreseeable future (unless a few of us want play some previous editions/ 30K)

That being said, I obviously still love the theme, the flavour and the miniatures.

So on that note, I have a thing to show you.

Recently, a member of the club I help run has just finished running a painting competition on his Instagram.

The challenge was to paint a Space Marine in his homebrew chapters colour scheme.
As I need a bit of a kick up the ass to make any progress.

Here you go:

med_gallery_33843_6479_50047.jpg

med_gallery_33843_6479_38116.jpg

I think the whole thing took me about 8 hours, and reminded me of how much I hate painting white.

Anyway, hopefully I'll start getting back into some 40k stuff.

If I do, I'll make sure to post it here for y'all

Looking Good there!!! Welcome back.:biggrin.:

Thanks Deathspectre, I'll try to post more regularly, but without the drive of the game, it just falls on to painting on whims, so it will be infrequent.

That being said, I've been working on a Leman Russ for a while now, and hope to have him done in the near future.

Good job on the Primaris.

Thanks!

Guess what folks? I have another update.

I know right?

Madness in 2018!

So a substantial time ago I was commissioned to paint the Primarch of the Space Wolves, Leman Russ.

I finally finished him a few weeks ago, so I'm going to photograph him, however, I thought I'd show you a little teaser to whet your appetite.

I'll see if I can dig out any more WIP shots of him to throw at you before posting the completed model

It has been forever, and I can only apologies for that.
In short, 8th edition has killed my hobby drive for 40k.

I haven't been inactive hobby wise though, just primarily doing non-40k things like Age of Sigmar, Bloodbowl and so on (Check out my Instagram - in sig)

However, I did tease the Leman Russ Commission I'd been working on (for commission info, check sig)

The good news is that I finished that a while back and the client was very happy.

The better news is that it won my local gaming clubs 'best single miniature' & ;'best in show' award.

The BEST news is that it also managed to snag me a finalist pin at this years Golden Daemon/ Warhammer Fest in the 40k single miniature category!

Well pleased with that.

Here are the photo's of the final thing for you!

med_gallery_33843_14296_55113.jpg

And for a sneaky bonus, a picture of it in the Golden Daemon cabinet

med_gallery_33843_14296_90572.jpg

The green dot indicates it made it to the finalists

Sneaky picture of the pin

med_gallery_33843_14296_7398.jpg

Considering this is my first entry into Golden Demon I will take that!

I'll try and update this thread as/ when I have to show off... but do expect it to be very slow going forward (unless there are some Demons I can shoe horn in here XD)
