Absolutely incredible work! I'm very impressed! As someone who's built a couple of these can can attest it is a HUGE project and one you've done very well. smile.png

I recently updated the rules for the warmaul. Here they are in case you're interested:

Wow, thanks a bunch! I was using your wip shots and final model as a basis for my Fellblade, and gotta say I'm glad you like! Thanks for the updated rules as well, they will come in handy!

I've got the Final Liberation sound track running through my head. That Tank is brutalitus maximus.

Cheers! That's what I was going for, over the top firepower!

Excellent work. Absolutely excellent thumbsup.gif

Thanks! Its been a long project, and glad that I stuck with it and completed it. Just wished I kept the Imperial Fists Expansion vow, but got there in the end!

Is chronus a legal upgrade to give that thing?

Given its for apocalypse, and you''d have to check with your oponent, as long as they are okay with it it should be fine. The people I play games with (on a rare basis) are quite easy going. Failing that, it is at least a good tank commander!

Well, after a bit of a hiatus from the Fists, I decided to make the next unit. I've wanted a Sternguard squad for a long while now, and I had a few models i really wanted in it, so I decided to make it a squad of a lot of mis-matched armour and include my 25th anniversary Rogue trader model as the sgt.

I replaced the plasma pistol (heresy i know) with an old bolter with a drum and a nice array of accessories for those marines on the go. Quite like how it turned out. Very meaty.

This one is nothing new, as in I posted him here before as a Carcharodon Astra. He has now been repurposed, though I have attempted to keep the unrestrained murder present.

I wanted a heavy flamer, and with a spare boarding marine, there really wasn't any choice.

A White Dwarf limited model. Love the pose, and don't care that he has a chainsword.

Whole squad.

I'm intending on making some more, so I have a unit of 10, though I may paint these for the time being and see how that goes. Let me know what you think.

I'm also glad to see you back with the boys in yellow.

Excellent work on those Sternguard. The bolters with all their extras, and all the other gear they're carrying, they look perfect for Sternguard. Equipped for whatever may happen. Great poses. Lastly, using the Mk.3 armour for the heavy flamer wielder is a great idea.

An excellent return to the board buddy. Loving the look of the Sternguard.

Cheers! Yeah its good to be somewhat productive again with my favourite marines. The thing is that I have wanted to do this for a long time (close to a year), so its good to finally get these ideas out of my head and onto the models.

Ditto on the Sternguard.

Thanks!

Nice conversion on the Sergeant, he looks ace. Get some paint on them so I can drool some more smile.png

Thanks, working on it asap.

Those Sternguard look brutal. I love it thumbsup.gif Glad to see you back working on your Fists again: I was starting to really miss them...

Cheers! That was what I was going for. Brutal and no restraint for the enemies of the Imperium. And its glad to be back with them.

Thanks a bunch! Certainly nailed what I envisioned for these guys. Just hope my painting and the new scheme willdo them justice.

Cheers! Hopefully will have an update soon.

Also, I'm starting a new recipe now for my Fists, so I hope the colours match up. Though so far Yriel Yellow looks like a good substitute. I'm shocked how easy it is to paint yellow now (as opposed to my old method which took forever and a day!).

Will have something to show soon.

Running knife marine for the win.

Good squad fella.

Cheers!

What materials do you use for your bases mate?

For these ones (Sternguard), I use a combination of the resin from the 40k basing kit, spare Rhino parts, Ruined city parts, sand and small slate.

  • 2 weeks later...

Really characterful stern guard brother, looking forward to seeing them in their yellow glory!

Thanks!

Well here are the first two Sternguard. The yellow seems pretty spot on, and I photographed them next to some older models and the difference was negligible.

The paint scheme is as follows;

Undercoat white

2 thin coats of Yriel Yellow

Recess wash of Agrax Earthshade

Build up the edges with Yriel Yellow

Highlight with Bad Moon Yellow

Light glaze with Gryphonne Sepia

Very close to my old scheme, but quicker. The Yriel Yellow has way more pigment in it than the old Golden Yellow. Such a difference!

Let me know what you think.

And the comparison shot.

Nice, they have a slightly brighter shine to them, it looks good.

Thanks! Looks like I can confidently continue my Fists without too much difference in the paints. What a relief!

Very nice. Looking rough but stubborn...good sons of Dorn.

Cheers! Now I'm onto the next ones.

Love the sgt and knife guy....awesome.

Love your thread man, making me wanna re do my imperial fists in a completely new way to how I did before

I looked back through you're models, and couldn't help but notice how awesome that stone look is on you're aquila's... Can I ask how you did it?

Thanks! they are as follows;

Graveyard Earth

Agrax Earthshade wash

Graveyard Earth leaving the recesses dark.

Bleached Bone

Bleached Bone/:cusse Scar White (1:1) for the edges

Those Sternguard are great .

Will be trying out your new yellow method on my unpainted marines.

Cheers! I'm glad I can keep on painting my Fists, and with a quicker method to boot. Will certainly come in handy! Hope you find it useful.

High praise indeed coming from you. I try to emulate the personality and raw brutality that you are able to conjure with your grey plastic. Very inspirational! Now I just need to make two more Sternguard for the ETL painting challenge. Then its up and up from there, provided I can be pried from my Dwarfs!

Thanks again!
