Imperial Fists *Archamus wip and Land Raider complete*

Lachdannan

Recommended Posts

I have been working on assembling my last few marines for the sternguard/veteran squad. Its taken awhile to get inspiration to make these models, as I was not able to find that creative spark. Thankfully though, it did arrive.

I did also manage to finish the second heavy bolter marine. Again this model was re-purposed from my old Blood Angels army.

I decided to give him the battle honour of marksmanship, which I believe is represented by a bolt shell.

Again I could not use my nice shoulder pads of the molded Imperial Fists symbol, so I had to improvise.

I also used lots of those leather straps, as I had lots of them about, and I also appear to be running critically low on my usual purity seals and such.

I also managed to convert up the last if the squad. I have taken parts from Marine, Space Wolves, Black Templar and Blood Angel sprues, plus whatever else I found in my bits box .

Now I just need to get some yellow on them!

Thanks for looking!

Cheers!

Cheers deathspectersgt7! I have put a little paint on them so far, though I have mainly been working on the character for the Imperial Fists Forum. Might be finished by the end of the week, perhaps.

Captain of the Imperial Fists 5th Company, Master of the Marches. Brother Captain Lachdannan.

http://i1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb383/lachdan/DSCF3180_zpsm9v3dwr3.jpg

Captain Lachdannan has been in active service for 128 Terran years. Recruited on the Hive World of Necromunda, Lachdannan established himself as a competent marksman in the ranks of 10th Company. His first engagement saw him and his squad pitted against the Traitor Iron Warriors Legion on the agri world Cernunnos. Against insurmountable odds, Lachdannan alone was the sole survivor of his squad after their recon mission, having successfully sabotaged and blown a dam onto the Traitor Legion's supply line.

It was in his 7th year as a full fledged marine that he earned the Marksmanship honour for eliminating a mob of Nobz in defence of the citizens of Meloncha. This deployment also saw him rise to the command of his squad. In the aftermath of this ddeployment, Brother Lachdannan was selected from the hopefuls of the Chapter to be re-deployed to the Deathwatch. Below is his transcribed Apocryphon Oath.

http://i1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb383/lachdan/Lachdannans%20Deathwatch%20Oath_zpsgtqk1ybd.jpg

It was during his tenure with the Deathwatch that Lachdannan was groomed for greater command and responsibilities, and he did honour to the chapter during the hundreds of deployments with the Deathwatch. It was his last deployment however, where he lost his eye to the Horror of Lynchos. Although he managed to overcome the beast and help his Deathwatch Brothers kill it, it also coincided the death of his Mentor, Captain Sharroth of the Raven Guard Chapter.

When brother Lachdannan was returned to the chapter, his was immediately assigned to the 5th Companies Honour Guard. It was here that we was further groomed for command, and took over the responsibilities of the 5th Company of his 84th year. To this date, he and his company have upheld the tenets of Rogal Dorn, and stood against the implacable night assailing humanity.

Hope you liked that little break from the norm! I just finished painting up my entry for the Imperial Fists sub-forum over at the Bolter and Chainsword. It was a very simple one, where I had to paint up a character. I just thought I'd write a little backstory as well.

Here are some proper pics of my Captain Lachdannan.

I decided here, to add some texture to the hair, by doing lots of thin lines. I picked white, as my own hair is going grey (already!), so its a little of me there.

Just had to add some heraldry to him. There's also evidence from Lachdannan's backstory, from the Marksmanship honour on his Storm Bolter, to the Iron Warrior stripes on his Heraldry. I like how it tells a story.

I'm rather happy with how he turned out. A lovely addition to my forces.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers!

As I said over on the IF subforum the captain is top notch .

The new Sternguard are looking great too ( I've always been a bit scared about mixing the various marine chapter sets together incase it looked like a mish mash - but you make them blend seamlessly ). Look forward to seeing them painted.

Great Job. Awesome write up as well.

Cheers! Thanks very much! I'm glad you lied the write up, as that is something I have wanted to do for a while, but something I have always held back on, as I know others do it so much better. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks mate! I find that I like to use all the different kits, as otherwise I cannot be inspired to paint them. That and I really like the different bits on other kits, so its nice to get some unique stances. I always remind myself that the Imperial Fists recruit from many worlds with different cultures, so there is a further justification to mix and match. Glad they came out okay! Just need to paint them!

I see Beakies! happy.png

I couldn't resist more Beakies. They are my favourite armour type. Just wish I didn't run out of bitz to make more!

  • 8 months later...

Been awhile since I have posted anything, though I do have something special. With the encouragement of the Imperial Fists challenge, I made some more Huscarl's to protect my Dorn. In the last game I played, going against 10 Terminators was a massive deal, and I really wanted a unit of my own to look that beefy. Just like the originals, they are all armed with the Lysander Storm Shields, as I think it looks the part.

Here is a pic of the originals, just for reference.

And here are the new additions to bump the squad up to 10.

I added a banner there, as I always wanted a Terminator command squad, and now that primarch's can get those, just seems to fit. Really looking forward to getting these painted up and added to my existing Huscarls. Like the originals, I do need names for them, so any suggestions are welcome.

Still some more modelling to come before I do any painting, so will keep you posted.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers!

Ridiculously awesome!

Cheers!

What names do you already have, Syth?

I have a blank slate at the moment. Not even one.

Most impressive! Great use of different bitz, they look outstanding, each one a hero in his own right!

Thanks, Pheidias! Glad you noticed the bitz, as I carefully selected the ones I wanted, or had at hand to make them. Some of them, like Lysanders shield, was rather hard to come by at a decent price.

Given the surge in hobby motivation, I also made Sigismund...again. For those not too familiar, I made my own Sigismund at the beginning of this plog. Here he is.

I didn't really like the head, so I gave him a spare Templar Brethren Helm. Think he looks much better.

Next up I'm thinking I will assemble some Templar Brethren, with some interesting poses.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers!
