Imperial Fists *Archamus wip and Land Raider complete*

Thanks very much for the kind words! I certainly do appreciate them. Regrettably my Imperial Fists have stood neglected from the painting table for a while now. My only excuse being that I am a massive Fantasy bend right now.

I still have however had the occasional game where i do the Fists justice, but the main system at the moment is Fantasy.

I'm glad you liked what you saw here, and I must say, there is more where that came from, which I have as of yet to post. I do hope at some stage i can reveal more of what I have done, so here's hoping I get inspired to jump back to the Imperial Fists!

Again, thanks for the comments!

Cheers!

Well it has been awhile. Like I have mentioned previously I have been stuck on a massive Fantasy phase, and since that is what we mainly play, that's what I have been painting. But I thought I haven't painted a Fist in a while and that made me dig out this model, which I posted a while ago.

This is to be my Sternguard Sgt. He is mainly off the 25th anniversery figure, with a bolter added to fit with the weapon choices. This model is still wip, but I did have a go at doing something different. I have done for all my Fists battle damage, but I was blown away recently by Gresiloth's blog on the Imperial Fist sub-forum. I just loved that battle damage. So here is my new take on it. I still need to put some highlights on the chips of paint, but I am unsure how to do the same chips and scratches on the other areas of the model such as the red helmet. The base of the damage is scorched brown, but I wasn't sure if that would work well for the red or white areas of the model or if I needed another base.

Still, at least I've made some kind of progess. Let me know what you think.

Very good to see you back with your Fists!

Thanks! It was nice to take a break and try something else though it was rather pleasant painting this model.

I do loath it when they get on my lawn msn-wink.gif Thanks for the kind words.

Well, I have finished the Sternguard Sgt. I must say I rather like the way he turned out. Like i mentioned previously, I've done a few new things to this model than what I used to do with my old Fists. The battle damage is different, and I actually spent more time on the base than I normally do adding lots of washes of browns, blues, purples and blacks would you believe. Even some static grass made it. Overall I like this new look a lot better than my old method, though It may be awhile before I revamp everything (I'll not mention it again!).

Still, I may go through the rest of the Sternguard this way and see how they look as a collective. This is looking like it is shaping up to be my Imperial Fists army MKII. We shall see. Thanks for looking!

Looking great buddy and even better seeing you back on the boards. smile.png

Thanks Biohazard! I tried out a lot of things with this model and I'm glad it turned out well. That and it is good to have a change from painting beards. Oh and its a delight to be back ;)

Oooooooh guess who's back....back again......

Boom looking good

Cheers! Yes back for a time. I'm thinking at least I might get my Sternguard finished, as I used them in a recent game, and it annoyed me they weren't painted. Though I really do like the new look, I might have to revamp the older stuff. One thing at a time I think...

Just found this thread and slowly read through every page.

Wow... Colour me VERY inspired!

The yellow mix is fantastic, so very happy you've put up a mumebr of your recipes, and battle damage processes!

The boarding marine squad is absolurely first class - I'm looking to do something similar as I've ordered a kit, and have beem.fighting the urge to build it now or to invest in a few Mk III squads first. After seeing just what cam be done, I'm sold!

Thanks MasterBuilder! Glad you could find something of use! I've found though the only trouble with that Boarding marine squad is I can't seem to use it as anything! Least they look good though!

See, as a siege vanguard player, I don't have that problem!

So long as they're all similar to the tac squads in loadout, they work beautifully...

I've got a nice conversion in mind to use the old school shouldered multimelta and have a groove cut ing the top of the shield as a rest/mount for firing it behind mobile cover. Should be cool.

Adter seeing your work I'm really excited to get stuck into cityscape bases... Cork and paper clips make great concrete and rebars hey?

A possible suggestion. It would certainly account for the siege shields and their inv save. It doesn't however account for the close combat weaponry. The search goes on I'm afraid.

Thanks! I liked the idea of a siege force in the city doing it tough. For my bases (though I must admit they look dated to me now), I used spare parts from the cities of death sprues. Cork and paper clips would be what I would go for now, so I look forward to your endeavours!

That Sternguard is a beauty Syth. Good to see you back smile.png

Thanks very much! Hopefully I can get the next lot few posted up soon.

Well it certainly has been a while since I could muster anything for the Fists, but with my Fantasy campaign drawing to a close, and a friend starting an interesting narrative campaign with me, I found myself painting Fists again.

Here are 4 marines I painted for this game, just so I could run Legion Tactical Squads. The game was great fun, and I couldn't help but pull out some more and start planning for the next game (which will be 1500pts).

These are my first Fists in a while, plus taken with a phone (my camera is out of batteries), so with sufficient excuses made please me kind ;)

The battle damage was very quick, and I generally speed painted these models (for me anyway). I'm looking forward to painting some more and doing my new method to battle damage, but for these grunts, it will suffice for the time being.

I have dug out more marines in MK VI armour to paint up, though I'm not sure what they will be for. I picked these to paint as MKVI is in use both in 30k and 40k, and I have steered clear of unit designations on these models, so I can use them to increase the size of my Tactical squads or Devastator squads.

Here are the next 3 wip shots.

At this stage its just Yriel Yellow with Agrax wash over them.

Still, its nice to paint yellow and not hate myself doing it.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers!

And it's very, very good to see you back!

Nice work, too.

Cheers! Thanks very much! Nice to be back into 30k/40k again.

Beakies! wub.png That's a cracking shade of Fist yellow too! thumbsup.gif

Thanks! I doo love the beakies, always reminds me (and others I am sure) of the Rogue Trader book cover. Totally want to do a Fist squad that's all injured like that.

Another quick update here. Finished one of the marines in MKVI armour. Decided that his one had just made a kill and it got rather messy. Usually when I do blood, I grab an old brush, crack open the Tamiya Clear Red and mix a little black into it. Looking through the photo's, perhaps I cold have added a little more black to the Clear Red to get a darker blood. Ahh well.

Anyways here he is in all his (blooded) glory.

I have also been busy working on some objective markers. Since it seems most games use around about 6 objectives and I only have 3 made and painted up. I thought I would finally rectify the problem and assemble another three.

I got these ages ago. The first 2 are the Space Marine casualties.

You can never have enough ammo and guns.

So that's what I have been up to. Next is some more Imperial Fists, the other 2 MkVI's.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers!
