The Eagles Spire - Semper Fidelis Eagles Eternal

Ah, nemfx, I'm glad you've stumbled upon my thread. I'm planing on putting some eagle artwork and and mosaic to the vehicles. Are you referring to modifications to the frame/body of the vehicles? If so I have no current ideas and I'm open to suggestions.

This has me thinking now... I wonder if space marines put artwork on drop pods. Are they reusable? Would a company commanders drop pod be decorated with more than just battle honors? And now I'll have to see if theres any way to modify a drop pod to have an eagle look/theme to it.

Thanks for the thoughts. And I enjoyed making the eagle, I'm glad you like it aswell

ive got several things for you all today. for one ive finshed my terminators, and ive got a tactical squad about 70-80% done. along with this ive put everything that ive got finished together so that i can give a full army shot(about 600ish points worth?) ive also experimented with my picture taking, so let me know how you like it.

so lets start with the terminators

the only model not finished is the squad leader. theres a dead chaos marine in his base and i havent figured out i want to paint it. im debating between a leigion whos colors will be complimentery to my army's, or one that can fit a nitch in my fluff as being a reoccuring enemy. the reason the rest of these guys were only just now finished is because i only just finished making a painting the bases, so the acctual models are out dated with my painting ability. im probably going to go back and update them at some point after i get a playable army finished.

heres where the tacticals stand.

for whats shown all i have to do is go back over the blue and then do highlighting. i have yet to make the helms or shoulders yet, and i think i still need to drill out some bolters. ill be working on that this week possibly.

heres an army shot.

because ive had problems with painting the chapter badge before, i decided i would try to make a mold. so i took some time today to GS the badge onto a shoulder badge. im hoping that tomorrow i can press some GS into it and start cranking out shoulder pads.

i also thought it would be a good idea to do the same thing with the heads to keep them the same, also cause i think it would just be easyer. i didnt take any pictures of it... its just like the other head.

Ah War Angel, love the work. Man it was your Marines that inspired my United Space Marine Corps in the first place and I must say this batch is fantastic. I wish I could GS that EGA properly, and the rest of your GS work is solid.

I eventually built a Battle Company of these guys, I'll try to post pics again. I did the vehicles in tan but considered red and gold, still working it out. I did convert a Stormraven to a Stormeagle, you can see pics on Dakkadakka in the gallery. It seemed to fit the force, I'm also gonna follow another guys progress and try to build a Space Marine Lander . It reminds me of a Landing craft, combined with drop pods it makes a hell of an assault force.

Keep up the great work, I'm looking forward to more.

Paen out.

I checked my mold today to see how it turned out, And I now realize that this is not goin to work how I want it to. Weather or not I can make it work this way, or have to make a flat mold is yet to be determined. It might actually be easyer to use the flat mold, but I don't like the process required to make it, I feel that the size could be off for what I need.

With pros and cons to both sides, I guess I'll just see what happens tomorrow when I get my first cast. If anyone has a better method try think might be more suited for this, I would love to hear them.

Thanks

i did some work on the weapons today, there done enough for me to glue to the models. im so close to being done, but its going to take a few days for me to have 10 cast's of the shoulders and heads, which by the way are coming out nicely now that ive had a few tips from a number of people.

heres a group shot...

nevermind, i didnt take a group shot (my mistake) so heres a 3 shots of some models i feel stand out. some of these have the casted helm and shoulder, to show how it should look once finished

Update on the molding chapter badge project. its slow going. i feel like im getting better at it, but at the same time ive given up on casting the beaks for the heads. it's too easy to do it by hand, and while i might have variations between each head, its minor. also while the mold started off giving me a good cast, after the first two or three they started comming out with some errors that i needed to redo any way.

that being said, at this point i have 7 heads, and later on today ill have 5 shoulders, which ill then use to make a five peice mold, and in two days ill have 10 shoulders.

on to some pictures. up first, the painted multi melta.

at this point he is now the most compleeted Marine of the squad

nothing new with this guy, except that ive broken his torso from his legs so i could reposition him to look more like hes shooting at something.

heres the auspex Marine

i hope you enjoyed this, its not much, thats mostly due to the speed bumb of waiting for these casts and not having much else left to paint. im going to have some free time to work on other projects (this chapter is composed of many projects) so the question now is, do i start work on a chaplain, or the next tac squad. (melta's and plasma cannon, oddly the exact oppisite of what this squad is lol). i'd appreciate any feed back as to which i should start on next. thanks for stoping by.

Absolutely epic army, War Angel, grade A job. Did you create that terminator base yourself, cracks in the ground and all? At any rate, looks awesome. I feel like they would get along well with some Mk A-X Storm Hog air support. Then again, you're already about to have an studly Thunderhawk for overwatch. Keep up the good work!

thanks nighthunter, im glad its finaly done. and the chapter badges are coming along great. not only have i gotten 10+ of them made, ive finished painting 10 of them.

TDA, yellow was the right choice indeed. i had thought about doing the trim's a differnt color, but felt i would lose the detail after i had finished the yellow.

Messor that A-X Storm Hog looks awesome. it a wonder they didnt just build the kits to be made that way...

heres a quick update

Third Squad... Right, Face!

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn74/Lastdogdead/001-Copy2.jpg

I felt so good about the way i've been making my gold, and decided that since i've put so much time into making the badge's that i couldn't just paint them red, it would be a waist. so gold it is!

enjoy, i'll be finishing this squad soon i hope. i thought i would be done last thursday, but then i didnt touch anything between last wednesday until today.

I know. If it didn't cost two kits to make, I'd go for one.

Anyway, that squad is looking GREAT. It would be awesome having these guys as allies on the table, it's pretty clear that they mean business.
