Really love how your army has been growing to such a impressive feat of sculpting and kitbash. Keep up the great work.

Yeah I had one of those lamps too, same problem!

but 2.5x glasses sound promising!

Cheers fella

They work great for detail work, as long as you try not to look at anything more than a foot from your face. I wear mine toward the end of my nose so I can look over them. I was a bit disappointed when the wife told me they didn't make my eyes look insanely large, because that would have made for an awesome profile photo. ;)

SO... what's left?  An arm and feet (or hooves).  I decided to pin half a zombie arm in there as and ARM-ature <cue rimshot and cymbal crash>....:cool.:

There was brief musical interlude from Rhett's Scythe, Elvis, before sculpting began.... it was unintelligable, but catchy.

I still find it amazing, steadily gaining "old fart" status as I am, how easy it is to look up reference material, thanks to the wonders of things like Google images. when I was in college, you had to go to several libraries, use photocopiers or "borrow' books,etc.etc.... now you just type in "fat arms" and BLAMMMO!!!

Then on to the feet...er, hooves and the sculpting on our Rat Zombie master is done.

I think he's going to need a sidekick named Willard.  :tongue.:  If you don't get the reference........ check this out.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFTOppsw9Gs

All the building, sculpting and mucking about is DONE! Painting is next. Ol' Rhett will be part of my "Call of Chaos" challenge.  Here's some pics.... check it out.

From slightly above, so you can see all the gribbliness of the Destroyer Hive.

AND more of an ALL-AROUND Plan view......

Next to some of the monsters, this is definitely my most extensive character conversion. Pretty proud of it. And if you mess around with green stuff, buying a tentacle maker is worth every cent.

Cheers Ya'll!

As part of my Call of Chaos VII painting challenge...and just because he needs to be painted...and because I'm eager to get painting him... I started painting THAT Rhett Bastid. I started out with a Bleached Bone base coat, a wash of Black/Brown, then drybrushing and washing and repeat and repeat and repeat....  This is just the beginning, but here it is.

So, I somehow missed this blog. I think the Templars in the name threw me off the scent...

It's nice to see someone else that appreciates how much an eyeball can put an opponent off their game, but my god yours is so much better painted than mine! This whole thing is quite frankly stunning, I'm squirreling a whole bunch of ideas away for when I get around to the Death Guard. Bravo sir!

Chaos needs their Templars too, Dragonlover. :)

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I've been working on THAT Rhett Bastid a little bit each night after work and between household project (we just put in a new floor...ugh) I should have some new photos up in the next day or so. Pretty proud of the way his gut has come out so far. I'm kind of going all out on the paint job, since I put so much work into converting him. Regrettably, I haven't been keeping very good track of HOW I'm painting him... I've just been turning on Pandora and getting in "The Zone'...then going to bed at like 4am....or later.  Its like college all over again...except it was mix cassette tapes then, because Pandora was just a name for an old Greek chick with a box full of trouble.

A quick Update on THAT Rhett Bastid....  I've concentrated mostly on the body/ fleshy parts. The face is still in progress and I haven't touched the armor yet.

Here's a close-up of the gut area....

That's all for now.

Beautiful !!!! for Nurgle that is.

Thanks Death... though I suspect your comment has been tainted by whispers from Tzeentch. We don't like Tzeentch. He's not allowed in the Templars of DOOooom clubhouse.

This is simply amazing... There is total awesomeness anywhere I turn my eye. The fact that you still have work to do on it is very frightening...

Great. With such high praise from such an illustrious member, I have a LOT to live up to now.:blink.:

Quick Update: My house is finally being put back together, after almost 3 months- repairing waterleaks, installing new floors, etc. Which is good, though limiting my hobby time. I've gotten some more detailing done. One of the secret weapons from Ms. Blinky's paint job- Purple and Blue Prismacolor colored pencils - they make nice veins. Because everyone needs veins sticking out on their engorged stomachs. Right? Its really neat how the GW washes interact with them (even cooler if you happen to have the watercolor pencils laying about)  Thinking out of the box a bit, its always fun to experiment. And a clearcoat will make sure the media don't come of from handling.

Should have new photos @ Monday once the craziness settles down and I have a fairly normal house again.

OK...quick painting update on THAT Rhett Bastid.  I'd say he's @80% done. His staff, Elvis, not so much... just base colors.  Still have to finish the Destroyer Hive and then details and piddly things.  Also need to fix the shape of his 'big' eye.

And a Detail shot...'cause he so purdy.....

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Yip4OCMLNw4/VFI_XjXHHRI/AAAAAAAAB8w/OdVvDHkAUgU/s1600/TyphPIP05.jpg

That eye is WAY too round. He should be mostly done or finished in the next update. :cool.:

I love how this model's face just ends up looking completely different with each update! :)

Seriously, though: It has taken me a while to decide whether or not I like the conversion, because - while the sculpting is ace - I wasn't quite sure the face works. Your latest update has put those concerns to rest, however: I just love that ghastly visage now. I'm not even sure I'd change anything about the "good" eye, btw.

Anyway, excellent work! And it has been quite a ride up to this point! ;)
