After a wounded hand and a trip to the hospital, Grandfather Nurgle has brought me back to grace the pages of B&C once more...er, again.  Not a TON to show, but I have gotten back on the hobby horse and finished my "test Terminator"   So, here's a fiery Khorne Dog.

After thinking of making plague marines out of these new fantasy guys, I'm going with terminator-things. I can use a Nurgly Terminator unit. So I've begun building up the gribbly hive like thing that Rhett Bastid has on this guy. Its the first layer in a much more gribby future for him, but you have to start somewhere. :)

Looks awesome, buddy! You make me want to buy that set and do the same. :smile.:

Since its like pulling teeth with tweezers to get GW to do cool stuff with 40k Chaos (.... and no Forge World doesn't count, unless you are sending me a winning lottery ticket... then, well...yeah ), you have hijack all the Fantasy coolness. Especially if you like your army to look a bit less "cookie cutter". I wish they would redo the basic Chaos Marines like at the level they have done these guys. But, of course, I still want multi-pose.   .... actually, scratch that, I don't want them to do that, because then I'd start buying more miniatures again and I have too many in the stable already. :wallbash:

In other news.... the DOOooombull has fallen!  Literally, he fell off a shelf and cracked up a bit. I could put him back to gether as is or even convert him, but he is an old metal mini so I put my credit cards dangerously close to my keyboard and  BWM!   DOOooombull 2.0 is happening.  Finally, my Deamon Prince will have wings instead of me saying..."See that flame on his back.... that turns into wings." or "OH... uh, he jumps really high. Like the HUlk." The old guy.... as he stood, unfinished....

And the core for his replacement....

I'm hoping to use the build as a side project while I finish my icky loyalist ETL V challenge. It'll all depend on how long his trip through the warp from Poland to Florida takes.

Well, I really want those Corpse loving goodie two shoes off my desk, so I figured the ETL would be a good way to get me painting. Once they are out of the way, I'll be working on the neverending Chaos army again.

The mini has arrived from Scibor. Beautiful sculpt. Of course, I'll be doing some "modification"  But the scale really screams Deamon Prince.  Here's a shot with s loyalist scum marine, the Doombull 1.0 and the upper torso of the Doombull 2.0.

Now a mock up for scale.  Not including the big vulture wings!

Nice conversions. Really like the termi-eastmenb (you can´t have enough beastmen, there are

so few of them in 40k already... :/ ).

Howare you planning to convert the second minotaur?

Keep it up. :smile.:

Aside from his wings, I'm still working out exactly what I want to do to him. I will be resculpting the hands so he has 3 meaty fingers. They are a little weedy for my likeing, beyond that , I'll "nurgly" him up a bit... but probably nor too much. Most of the grossness will come with the painting. I put crackle paste on the base last night. It has some really great cracked earth going on. I'll be fixing that and adding some other gribblyness tonight  and make room for his nurgling sidekick.

After a few months on other projects and getting second job (because having two is all the rage) I'm back at the Chaos stuff.  First I had to clean up this mess a bit though.

I decided I needed to do some painting to shake off the rust, since I haven't touched a miniature since last November.  So I broke out a squad of plaguebearers that I had already primed and went to work.

I gave this guy a drybrushing of Rakarth Flesh/Orgyn Camo and then picked out some of his pus sores with bleached bone.

plagueyWIP01.jpg

Some washes with a mix of the GW Blood for the Blood God medium and Druchii Purple and/or Althonian Camoshade.  The purple and Camoshade are my go-to colors for these earthy olives.  The purple is great for deepened shades. It also mixes with the blood medium well for some nasty looking dark bloody stuff. I found that washing this around the pustules is an easy way to give it that inflamed/bruised look. A little wash of GW Gryphonne Sepia, to give a yellowish tint. Then you just back in with the bleached bone and give the pimple a head. :) . I also did some tasty running sores and open woulds. The mouths I used the same dirty blood color.

Then some light drybrushing and picking out the details with the Rakath Flesh. Some more detailing and he'll be done. 9 more to go.

Great start! And welcome back. Those plaguebearers look great to begin with. I remember painting mine about 18 months ago and having a complete blast with them. Have fun!

Its a great kit. There are so many cool things you can do with minimal conversions. And if you don't mind the extra work they get even cooler. I'm trying not to buy more minis, but  I may have to get another box of those guys. They are fun to paint. I'm planning on doing each one a little different but with the whole unit with a similar pallet. For example:That nasty grey/green thing might end up with some blue highlights or more red/brown, etc. Its a fun project to knock the rust off... and keep me sane while I work too much.

Such a great/inspiring read. The models are all fantastically sculpted and painted. The rust effect mixed with the sores, tentacles and other mutations looks awesome.

Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to seeing any updates :-)

Two-Toed Ted is finished.  I wanted to make the new unit look like my older metal ones so I put in some of the bright green magicy/poison looking chaosy stuff (technical term) that the old ones had. Its kind of neat to see the new models and the old next to each other.

The rest of the gang have their base colors on, so time to move forward.

I also have to figure out how to marry the dark green/green + rust scheme of the overall army to a unit of Noise Marines I'm working on.  That could be interesting.

The bright green detailing works brilliantly, really makes him pop!

Thanks. I was toying with not doing it, but I got the older guys out and put a few on the table next to the newer ones. They look pretty good together and that bright green highlight tightens it up as a unit. I had thought about doing the sword as an obsidian like structure, but the idea of a rusty chunk of Chaos metal was very appealing and fits well with the overall green-dark green + rust color scheme of the army. I think I might be sneaking it in to the rest of the force as I finish them up.  Most of the army (at least the foot soldiers) are just painted in base colors and need detailing, which is what I'm planning on doing this year. So, hopefully, I'll be posting on this thread a lot. :)

Ted looks fantastic. When I read your first line in my content page, I first thought his two toes would be... elsewhere - like a certain desert dwelling ungulate. Anyway, I'm glad that, even though my initial fears were not confirmed, he still looks disgusting. :D ;)

I got a little work done on his buddies tonight and should have some pictures up tomorrow

Base colors are on the other 9 plague bearers. Also have a process shot from left to right. On the left is the base color, then lighten it up with spot dryubrushing (Ogryn flesh/elf flesh and a little bleached bone), then Gryphon Sepis in the shodaowed areas and around the pustiles/teeth.  Then I mix Blood for the Blood God with Druchi Purple and highlight the pustules and nasty bits.  The purple takes it from that bright 1960's movie blood color to something a little closer to gross. A littel straigh purple in some spots to help with the bruised flesh look.

plaguesteps1.jpg

Then some Althonian Camoshade in the shadows and around some of the nasty bits to deepen the gross.

plagueys07.jpg

Now on to the details- pustules, gross bits, nurglings (which will be brighter) weapons, etc.  That leaves me at 20 plaguebearers. Since 21 is divisible by 7 and that number makes Papa Nurgle happy, I got a herald in the works to go with the gang.

Aww man, aren't plaguebearers an absolute joy to paint? Yours look great as per usual. I agree about bftbg being a bit too arterially red. Your recent Nurgle work is a massive inspiration for my upcoming Death Guard. Please, never stop!
