elmo
Thanks Bobz :) The vow is moving along slowly. Greenstuffing has been continuing, some base spraying (19 out of 25 models are now bleached bone) but there are a few final bits of converting/tidying up to do before I can spray the remainder and then the detail painting will start next week. I am hoping to crack out 5 a week with characters taking a little longer but we shall see. I am not expecting to have enough time to do a second vow at the moment, but "hope springs eternal Baldrick". elmo
I am having to alter the Sgt models as our FAQ means they can only have the sword and stormbolter but I will be using magnets just in case we get another update allowing them to use hammers/shields or claws ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260687-elmos-seemingly-constant-wip/page/18/#findComment-3706650 Share on other sites
elmo
The DA FAQ does not allow the Deathwing Sgt to take any other weapons than a Stormbolter and Powersword so I have had to play with my initial models which I was planning on having with Thunder Hammers/Storm Shields and Lightning Claws. All the arms will be magnetised so if the FAQ is changed to allow other weapon load-outs I will just be able to swap them over. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/155/6/f/deathwing_sgt_1_by_elmo9141-d7kzlm8.jpg This conversion uses the Deathwing Sgt from the Dark Vengeance box set combined with parts from the Deathwing command box. http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/155/7/0/deathwing_sgt_2_by_elmo9141-d7kzm5j.jpg This conversion uses the Deathwing Sgt from the Dark Vengeance box set but with the sword arm removed and repositioned and the bunny ears have been chopped off along with the feathers behind the skull icon. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/155/b/9/deathwing_sgt_3_by_elmo9141-d7kzmfx.jpg This conversion uses the Deathwing Sgt from the Dark Vengeance box with the sword hand repositioned slightly. http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/155/a/f/deathwing_sgt_4_by_elmo9141-d7kzmkb.jpg This is the standard Dark Vengeance model for those that have not seen it before. http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/155/4/5/deathwing_hammer_and_shield_by_elmo9141-d7kzmnk.jpg This conversion uses the Deathwing Sgt from the Dark Vengeance box set combined with parts from the Terminator box and a shield from Scibor Work continues Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260687-elmos-seemingly-constant-wip/page/18/#findComment-3707902 Share on other sites

elmo
I just wish I could have taken a sharper photo The display cabinets are from a well known Swedish furniture company... Update on the DV terminator Sgt #4 I changed my mind. The standard DV pose needed converting! The sword arm has been carefully removed and the joint repaired with greenstuff The bolter arm connection has been filled with greenstuff ready for magnetisation The arm joints on the torso rear have been trimmed and repaired with greenstuff The torso front has the feathers and skull icon removed and the robe will be continued in their place using greenstuff and the bunny ears have been rotated through 90° http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/156/0/a/deathwing_sgt_4_revisited_by_elmo9141-d7l3htr.jpg Edited June 5, 2014 by Elmo9141 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260687-elmos-seemingly-constant-wip/page/18/#findComment-3708942 Share on other sites

elmo
Thanks I. Work has been progressing and the greenstuff and base spray is now complete. I have also pre-drilled a 3mm hole in the torso and 2.5mm (initial) hole in the arms ready for the magnets. I now realise just how much work I have ahead of me :( http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/jonbrooks_photo/IMAG0293_zpsc1d41b5a.jpg http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/jonbrooks_photo/IMAG0296_zps4f6db668.jpg The red storm bolters are earlier ones I started but never finished so I will use the ETL as motivation to get them done along with a heavy flamer and plasma cannon for arm swapping later. Bryan Blaire
Wow, Elmo, I think you are definitely more obsessive than I am. Also looking forward to seeing how your sword turns out, I altered my pose some so that the sword is being held out away from the body a little more. elmo
Thanks Bryan. Here is the progress so far... 5 terminator bodies just about done and I am hoping to have their bases and about 10 arms done by the weekend http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/jonbrooks_photo/IMAG0298_zpsccaf347f.jpg JeffJedi, Prot and Larhendiel 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260687-elmos-seemingly-constant-wip/page/18/#findComment-3714816 Share on other sites
Bryan Blaire
One of these things is not like the other... One of these things doesn't belong... :D Awwww, look, how cute, identical quadruplets and one odd one. Guess which will be Momma's favorite... ;) They look great, Elmo, really like the knee pads' freehand markings, lenses and targeters look awesome, but the parchment looks a tad dark (but it's very hard to distinguish parchment from bone already, dark might be the only way to go). Smashing job! elmo 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260687-elmos-seemingly-constant-wip/page/18/#findComment-3714825 Share on other sites
elmo
They where just the first 5 I picked from the pile, just typical that 4 where clones ;) I normally paint parchment bone so I had to go for another colour with these and it was 50:50 whether it was going to be lighter or darker - I went darker... Hexagon Sun
Haven't popped in here to say hello much recently but thought it high time I did. Your painting discipline never fails to impress me, I know for a fact I'd be ruined after doing about 10 of those terminators never mind 25. Brilliant work so far and your cabinets look amazing. elmo
Thanks hex :) I have just realised I have cocked up - the holes I drilled in the arms are 2.5mm and the magnets are 2mm. Buggr! I will have to pack them out with greenstuff or loads of superglue. That will teach me to check first :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260687-elmos-seemingly-constant-wip/page/18/#findComment-3715339 Share on other sites
elmo
As I screwed up the arms I decided to start on some more bodies instead. Here are the 4 Sgts after the first evening. elmo
Well thank'e kindly Master Bobz :) They are done now but I can only get poor camera phone shots so I will wait till tomorrow night and take a photo of the 9 together. Rather than greenstuffing all the holes in the arms then redrilling them to 2mm I have decided to go the easy way and drill them to 3mm and use the same magnets I used in the torsos so that should save a little time ;) I am planning to paint all the bodies first then all the arms. It will be my own little painting production line and just to paraphrase Henry Ford "You can have any colour as long as it's bone." Alright he said black but RW will be later... elmo
The bodies are painted (less a couple of things I noticed taking the photo) and magnetised with 2 3mm N52 magnets, one for each missing arm/hand. Here are some better pictures however some of the lighter highlighting has been washed out - need to play with the camera settings again. The red chest sword needs a wash in the 4 clones and general tidying up. One of the sgts (Champion) needs his cloak. http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/164/9/3/wip___deathwing_end_of_1st_painting_week_by_elmo9141-d7m6zrb.jpg Edited June 13, 2014 by Elmo9141 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260687-elmos-seemingly-constant-wip/page/18/#findComment-3717815 Share on other sites
