I think I may have just found my next project, especially as I have some SW on the way.

Thanks to the original artist (whoever you may be).

And 3 Assault Cannon Termies are also done along with some extra weapon arms for my earlier models.

That just leaves 17 to do but most of them are just a stormbolter arm so they should be quick.

A moments lapse be-gets a lifetime of painting....

Brothers. I have broken down and gone halves on another DV box set.

Even more models to paint but I just could not say no!

Another 5 Deathwing :(

This time I will be chopping off both arms for conversions.

Thank you brothers - you can't see me blushing :blush.:

Firstly the bad news...

My pre-ordered stormclaw has been cancelled due to lack of stock. Not too bad as they where going to be a side project/diorama/spares anyway but on the good side this does mean it frees up the money I paid for it so I can "invest it" into something else ;)

Next the really good news (especially for the Master of Recruits). After a mammoth 2 evenings of painting in 30°C+ I have managed to complete 17 Stormbolter arms and with this it means that another 11 Terminators from the 25 are complete. The only ones left now are the sword arms for the Sgts, the Apothecary,  the Standard bearer and Champion. I am quietly confident to have completed my vow by this weekend and look forward to posting photos of the labour of love that was 25 Deathwing

Next week I will carry on and paint up the spare arms ready for when my next DV box arrives.

Thanks for the kind words marvmoogy. I tend to go back over this thread and my main collection thread every so often as it helps me to see how I have improved (as I am sure you will) and it motivates me to try out new ideas/techniques. Also checking out the other guys fantastic threads on the DA forum means I get to steal all their ideas too ;)

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago when my eyes went - now I have a pair of painting glasses

The Termies are now complete: Linkie thingie

I still need to paint up some spare arms but they can be done in slow time. It is nice to have the pressure lifted

@cod_lover: Thanks :)  The method I use is fairly simple and goes a little like this...

Chaos black base spray

Army painter skeleton spray

Agrax earthshade in the armour recesses

Wet drybrush with Ushabti Bone

Normal drybrush with Vallejo Pale Sand

dry drybrush of Vallejo Ivory

Then do all the detailing and finally touch up with Bleached bone

Seems to work for me :)

  • 2 weeks later...

There will now be a short pause in my DA as I have a backlog of Astra Milliwhatnow vehicles and troops to catch up on including:

Baneblade

LR MBT x 2

Demolisher/Punisher

Wyvern/Hydra

Chimera x 2

And loads of transport left right...

All the vehicles will have magnetised bits.

When normal service is resumed (or I just get bored of desert camouflage) with my DA I plan on finishing my RW models and starting on the 6th (or 3rd, not completely sure which yet) company.

Has it really been so long since I did any Dark Angels.... Bad Belmo, Bad!

As a break in painting my AM I got back to my beloved 1st with some HH love.... Some WIP snipers (first of 10). These should be ready by Friday for some better photos. The camouflage is loosely based on British Combat 95 but I went with a little more pale brown/sand than the actual pattern. Not yet convinced if I should have gone with a busier pattern or not but these are pretty much how they will stay.
