I

I plan to use them mainly as 40K DA but would like to keep the options open for HH hence going for black armour.

To explain the black armour for 40K they will become "The Angels of Shadows" successor chapter who exclusively use ancient tech.

Looks loke consecrators' description ... ;)

Any magnets in prevision? :D

I had to go email the mods (thanks again guys) and have them manually create an account for me so I could say "Wow, these are so great I just don't know what to say"

But now you have an account you can go maaaad!

Currently beavering away in the background. The Contemptor Dreadnought should be done by this weekend with magnetised weapons and the Captain in Terminator Armour and the Dark Apostle (Chaplain) are also progressing nicely :smile.:

This is a link to the scheme I am going for.

Work has been progressing quietly in the corner and I am now at the detailing stage on the Contemptor Dreadnought, Captain in Terminator Armour and the Cataphractii Terminators.

The arms on the terminators are still to do but I have not decided on CC or guns...
The Contemptor weapon arms have been magnetised.

The photos are not the best but you get the idea :(

Elmo, great stuff you have here, I was thoroughly impressed with your impression of the cover of the dark angel book cover, and as many are here with the mural.  Just a question.  Did you use some kind of template, not asking for your secret, but did you practice on some paper with the dimensions of the dozer blades?   If so, do you have a link to them, or can you tell me the dimensions of the dozer blade?  I am going to do the line breaker squad myself and not to copy your idea but this is for a completely different chapter and I have a great idea for the blades.

I'm also impressed with the way that if you were to break down the squad to one or two tanks, the blades themselves don't need the other 2 to support the 'idea of, hey look it looks like it's missing something!' (really hope I came across there and hoping you got my meaning.) I guess what I'm saying is, the mural to me at least as an artist impression from you, is the murals one by one don't need the other two to look like it's a complete mural.  But if and when you assemble them in a line, it looks the way it's meant to look.

I am currently painting blood ravens.  And my idea for a mural is one of a feather and pieces falling from the feather then them turning or morphing into single ravens themselves.  I got the idea from a tattoo design I saw, let me post it.

And this one...

There are many more available on Google Images.

I also wanted to thank you for the inspirational ideas.  You're the man.

MP

I feel humble - thank you for the praise :smile.:

I did the blades one at a time with the sword one being first which naturally followed on to the remaining wing section on the second blade but the last blade with the angel on initially caused problems as only the tip of the mural would be shown, hence the addition of the text and Angel which happened to fill the space nicely.

The dozer blade was first painted green and highlighted then the mural was outlined using a soft pencil as this allows you to correct errors without damaging the base colour. I did not use a template.

Once I was happy with the outline I then filled it in using watered down white paint (ended up with 7 coats to get good coverage) then weathered.

The only advice I can give is to choose a simple mural which is wide enough to fill the 3 blades and also as the advantage of being able to stand alone on one blade. The 2 examples you have shown would not really work as they are not wide enough.

Thinking out loud how about the feather turning into ravens on the left hand blade turning into small ravens in flight in the centre then reforming into a raven on the right?? Add a few Blood Raven icons and it may work.... You will have to try a few sketches till you are happy. To make it easier you could try to print your own decals of different sized bird silhouettes instead of painting them on.

Do you have a link to your WIP thread as it would make more sense discussing this there as it is not really DA relevant ;)

Success.... I have managed to magnetise the terminator arms so the 5 left and 5 right pauldrons can be fitted to any arm combination :)

3 x 2mm magnets in the torso and arm joints, 2 x 1mm magnets in the pauldrons and shoulders.

Insert insane laughter here :laugh.:

The problem is... I have to paint all the arms now

I am going to magnetize my Cati BaC Termies but I was going to glue the top pauldron pieces to the top of the torso. I honestly didn't think about magentizing them even though I magnetize everything. lqtm I am appropriating your idea, will use my small magnets for it. ones smaller than the what I would use for arms, like the ones you used for arms.

Good show, old boy.

Some of the Dark Angels Horus Heresy models are done, some partially done and a big box of tactical marines still to do.... There are a hell of a lot of models in the Betrayal at Calth box ;)

Here are the Contemptor Dreadnought and Captain in Terminator Armour done and the Cataphractii Terminators just waiting for their arms which are magnetised along with the Dreadnought weapon arms.
