I've been promising an update for a little while...

he still has a number of areas to finish (sword, rivets on the hood, horns on the skulls, some bling on his belt (syringes, buckle, loops for it to stay on the coat), but i'm pretty happy with how he's turning out!

I don't have decent lighting or a camera where i am, so these will have to do

I disagree on the arms tbh lorenzen, they are about as thick as the wrist of a regular marine, possibly a little thinner, if they were much thinner the hands start to look too large.

I will go back and replqce the sword and finish off the other areas though

I know what you mean and think if youd used regular marine legs the arms would probsbly look fine but with astoraths legs they look too wide (the whole arm not just the gs parts) his calves look smaller than his forearms.

I think you could potentially taper the vambraces so they became a little thinner near the wrist and off set the "thickness" but its up to you.

I think the legs are fine to be honest - I agree with Lorenzen that the arms should be thinner instead. The sword arm in particular looks a bit thick.

I don't know if this is any use to you – a bit closer to the original in some ways but a similar project created by Lamenter (masteroftheforge.com)...

Hey Folks,

so i've not been about much (again) this is in no small part to me now having a son! His name is Nathaniel (enamelled black boltgun, Garro) Peter Smith :)

but as a result I've found that my free time has become unsurpringly even more precious and my hobby has taken a massive back seat until this week where i have started getting some time in the evenings after he's gone to bed and I can do something...

I've arranged to head over to warhammer world with Lorenzen, Paul Rudge and now a group of others as well, so am attempting to get some models in order so as to not show up with a load of grey (and green) models this time around... In actual fact the real challenge I've been set is to have a 2.5k list 'painted' by the time of the heresy weekender next year (which I've booked my tickets for, PLEASE say hi if you see me!)

anyway, so I brushed the dust of the tactical squad I started WAY back in this thread and got back to work shading them and blacking out details...

I also started looking at what to do with the Mephiston I was working on before, when I took him to the weekender earlier this year the guys were impressed, but had some suggestions, as did some friends and a few of you back in this thread... So I'm currently extending the lower legs and bulking them out, I'll probably beef up the thighs a bit as well whilst I'm at it, and I'll be sculpting new gauntlets for the arms I had before too. Obviously, just as I actually finish this, GW will release an official model that I'll prefer!

I've also been adding basic washes to my two assault squads and the vanguard squad, a few of them are pretty horrible as they were done with a different wash previously, the result is I've got to work out a way to clean them up as I go, but hopefully it'll all work out eventually.

(sword on sergeant is a little bent, nothing a hair dryer wont fix though)

I have a second tactical squad that I've added the shading to already as well, but forgot to take a picture...
