Xenith
Bit of an update! Finding some inspiration on painting models started ags ago, I got my Tzaangor shaman and the Cyber Surfgors painted up! I need a shot of the shaman, but he's in the same death chicken scheme as my Tzaangor. I'm really loving the robot arms on the tzaangor and am considering painting up some more of them. The surfboards, which are a printed STL I found online, featuring the magical tzeentch explosion symbol, were inspired by one I found online: However in looking for that image I've seen another couple that also might work, and I might go back and make each of them slightly different, being Tzeentch and all... On another note, I pulled some models out of storage, including these bad boys. Not really playing Chaos that much, and not having a place in a heresy army (maybe as night raptors?) I'm undecided as to keep or sell them. sitnam, Dr_Ruminahui, LameBeard and 2 others 2 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265816-xeniths-chaos-magnus-the-red-finished/page/11/#findComment-6061994 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
Oh wow ... I remember when those metal raptors came out! I always did like them ... Xenith
Yea, absolutely iconic models, however being realistic, my chaos hasn't seen the table in a decade, and the weapons aren't idea for night raptors. Or maybe the could be decent chainblades? These guys while chaos models, are objectively less 'chaosy' than the current chaos models, and are less ornate/baroque than some loyalist models. They'd probably be a decent stand in for loyal/traitor units in the heresy. Xenith
Bit of an update, pulling my finger out on a load of half finished projects seems to be the theme of this side of 2024 as I primed and painted Azrakh the Annihilator in some much better colours, with nods to his heritage, ad then got on with Magnus the Red. Azrakh was a nice fun piece, and used contrasts asm much as possible - the model was primed leadbelcher, overbrushed with ironbreaker, washed with nuln oil, redrybrushed, then the gold is nazdreg yellow in one medium coat with a shade of nazdreg around the rivets. Grenades are militarum green x2, khorne mark is flesh tearers red over the silver, while the face is thin layers of...either cadian or flayed one flesh built up, with a magos purple shade around the eyes. Love that colour of things like this. I've been doing magnus following the WHTV video from back when he was released, if it aint broke dont fix it. I got oneof those round make up drybrushes recently (superdrug, ~£4 as I recall), and it's a decent tool for the collection. The pic below shows where I am on the wings after the baharroth coat. I've been building up the colours slowly with progressive drybrushes, and I'm pretty pleased with it so far. Firedrake Cordova
Love the darkening around the eyes on Azrakh! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265816-xeniths-chaos-magnus-the-red-finished/page/11/#findComment-6070917 Share on other sites
Xenith
Thanks! It's literally just Magos purple, I do it on pretty much all my models eyes now, and add more layers depending on how unhinged I want them to look! Xenith
And the latest addition to my Thousand Sons, and general Chaos Legion, is the Big Man himself: painted using Duncan's Warhammer TV Tutorial, this guy was actually really pleasant to paint. I really enjoyed painting that red skin, so much easier to do and more forgiving than skin coloured skin. I also painted the armour, but I was loathe to cover up the job I did on the skin, so I am unsure whether I'll attach it, and leave him as a big, scary, mostly naked intimiadating presence on the table. If anyone has seen my IG, I also coundn't decide between the faces, so I actually magnetised them - now I have to go back and paint the other options! Dr_Ruminahui
He's looking good - and I kind of like the "naked bodybuilder" look over the "horned boobplate" look of the armour - though, it does definitely make him look more demon/D&D than space marine/40K. Loving the vibrant blue details on his wings and forearm, and the tabard and its detailing are nice and clean.
