As much as I like green I think the orange is better, albeit with a darker grey that's closer to black. It'll be a striking colour scheme and I'm sure the Sisters will want people to know they've arrived :P

I'm going to be awkward and say orange :tongue.:

Orange is for citrus and Taylor Schilling.

Green all the way!

It's supposed to be a shade of brown actually, although it does look orange :laugh.:

I might have a mess around at the Sisters painter tomorrow after work and see if I can come up with another scheme :happy.:

I had a little time this week to get some more painting done. There's still some to finish (including one last Bolter Sister), but the completion for this batch of Sisters is very close now :happy.:

I went with a gold edging on all of the cloth that came out better than I'd hoped. The Hospitallier was given a different colour scheme to mark her as a Sister from an entirely different Order. She was also given a freehand Fleur on the back of the tabbard.

I'll be posting background on each of the squads in my next post.

I must be mad...

...But still :happy.:

I have family related stuff to do tomorrow (Saturday), but I think that getting these Sisters finished and getting the Seraphim started will happen on Sunday. I've decided that I will get at least one game in before the end of the month :happy.:

I'm looking to try a game with Sisters by themselves and another with my Rainbow Warriors as an allied detachment, something that I haven't done yet. The Irony is not lost there, eh? :tongue.:

Looking great. I've finally got all my bases made for my sisters and only have 12 more to do before I finally start painting my sisters! Which is a gruelling task in itself :)

Can't wait to here all the fluff you make for them ^_^

I'll keep a weather eye out for them :happy.: I've still to decide on a base scheme though. The PE didn't come with a base, but I do have one that the Marine Dreads come with spare, so I'll use that most likely.

Hopefully, it'll be a lengthy piece as I want to revisit my Liber article on them soon.

  • 2 months later...

Looking good, can't beat that feeling of a fully painted army on the tabletop :smile.: I like how the PE box still says Witchhunters on :tongue.:

A couple of months later and I realise that I hadn't replied to this :sad.: Thanks :happy.:

I haven't got any progress to report, save that the existing Sisters have had their bases given a coat of Astrogranite (and a thin one at that, but at least one of my armies has proper basing scheme now! :laugh.: )

I still have the Canoness (mark II) to finish (I lost her Inferno pistol somewhere and I managed to get a replacement from ebay, so she'll be properly armed...literally soon) and the Seraphim, along with the Exorcist, Immolator and Penitent Engine. I've had painters block lately, tied in with long shifts at work and it getting dark early has meant that I've not felt it. I'm going to force myself out of it on Sunday/Monday and get as much as I can done - I spoke to Kobrakei a while back about a match (who lives in the same city as me) and he seemed interested. The GW store manager has said he'd like to see a Sister army play there, as as far as he knows, no one has ever turned up with one! :sad.: So, I'm determined to show them how the Daughters of the Emperor fight! :happy.:

I bought the Imperial Knight e-codex and Legion of the Damned one on Saturday as a way of opening more options for most of my armies, with the Sisters getting first dibs once I've gotten the appropriate models. The LotD units won't be painted in their typical flames motif as I want something different. Question is, would a LotD ally be worth tying to a Sisters army? I've searched a little (not as thoroughly as I usually would), but haven't seen much out there. Any thoughts on the viability?

LotD would actually be pretty good since they give us relatively safe deepstrike with special weapon options.  My favourite loadout for them is always Multi-melta, Plasma-gun, Combi-grav (you're restricted on Gravguns but not on combi-grav) and power fist (since the serge is better WS then normal and 3++ means he might actually get a chance to swing it).  Make them pick on little squads of Mech or support another unit against nasty enemy units.

They're basically the same role as Seraphim, just slower and a lot more killy.

I do like the idea of continuing the "Trinity" :happy.: outside of my Sisters army, although I haven't used Grav weapons since Rogue Trader! :laugh.: I've only had a quick scan of the e-Codex, so I haven't read up fully on the options, but it's a unit that I can use legitimately (as in, it's a fluffy unit that I can add to every Loyalist Imperial army I have. Fluff is a big thing to me :happy.: ) Something to think about for sure :smile.:
Once the models I have are painted, my Order will stand at 1455 pts :) (and no allies to boot) My aim is to get to 2k. I also bought the small GW case - it's very good. I was worried about my Sister Superiors, Canoness and Celestine (having swords and all), but the foam is deep enough to cover the vast majority of the models. I still have to find a way of transporting my Exorcist, immolator and Penitent Engine though. I might just get another one, or go for the next size up.

My aim is to get to at least 2k.

Fixed that for you, because we all know it won't stop there :tongue.:

You aren't wrong! I've been spending too much time looking at their GW page...pity the Immolator is no longer on the site, as I wanted at least another two or three! :(

So, now that I actually have the makings of a functional army, I figured that it's way past time that I have suitable Objective Markers for them.

The bases are from what's left of my hobby stuff from over twenty years ago and older than some of the members of the board! :blink.::laugh.: Many Canoness' (didn't) die to give up those books and scrolls! :laugh.:

med_gallery_51296_8390_69259.jpg

The bases were then spray coated with Halfords grey (I can't recommend their sprays enough  ) and given a coat of Astrogranite. I quite like that paint, but I really need to remember that I should put far more on that typical (as the paint dries, the effect is lessened, hence the reason why it looks sparse. It doesn't matter too much though - the Sisters' bases look the same, so at least I've been consistent!)

med_gallery_51296_8390_169722.jpg

The final result:

med_gallery_51296_8390_23885.jpg

I did make a mistake on OM 3 (the number should have been the other way around :laugh.: ), but they only took me two hours to do from scratch, the paint drying took the longest time. Had I enough time today, I would have started on my two Seraphim squads, but they'll have to wait a little longer

That is a very nice, simple and effective choice for the objective markers!

Good stuff! :happy.:

Thanks! :happy.:

Haven't seen you around much (perhaps we've just been on at different times?) Good to see you around. Funnily enough I re-read the "This is the Liber Astartes" topic in its entirety last night... :blink.::laugh.:

A thought just occurred to me. Regarding BSS and Rhinos/Immolators. It states that up to twenty Sisters can form one squad and that a squad can take a Rhino or Immolator as a transport, but only ten would fit in a Rhino and up to six in an Immolator. How would the rest of a twenty Sister squad under that example proceed? Would the squad as a whole be considered "Combat squaded" (as in, split in two, one half in a Rhino, the other walking?)

How would that work? It doesn't state outright, or imply that you can get two Rhinos to accommodate them all.

You'd have to wait until the squad numbers 10/6 or less respectively before you could get in. Sisters can't combat squad.

So there'd be little point in getting a Rhino for a twenty Sister squad, unless it's act as a mobile shield/escort. At least with the Immolator, that has the turret. Oh well, I thought I'd check. Footsloggers it is then! :laugh.:

I've just bought another Exorcist...May the Emperor preserve me...

Its not a bad way to get more obsec armor.

So that's what I'll be capturing then? ;) Good work so far, everything's looking cool :)

As for LOTD, they're cool as, and that's the only real justification you need to take them! Did you think of a scheme yet? I've seen them done in ghost colours, and it looks really funky and makes them so easy to paint as well.
