First, some detail work on the death co.

gallery_58096_13031_27069.jpg

This guy is now finished, making 2/5 from the squad complete.

Also, I finally got up the courage to tackle my proteus. This was a rescue from a trade, had some horrible nurgle doors on and was a little beat up. I've sanded back the paint, tidied it up, and replaced the doors with normal LR doors.

I just love how the Proteus looks. The photos on the FW web site are amazing.

I just wish I knew how to best fit it into a list! 5 man tac flamer squad maybe?

I also put together and sprayed a second hand Tornado - missing the gun rail, so I had to make another from brass wire. I'm really not sure what company this should go in: 8th with my other speeders, or 7th, tactical company fully trained to take the field in all speeders. I started putting models into the 8th co, then learned about the 6th and 7th being capable of fully bike or speeder mounted assault respectively. This would then allow me to put only assault marines in the 8th. I don't know if I need or will ever have 100 assault marines, but it's preferable to the 200 taxtical marines that would be in the 6th and 7th...

Next up, either another land speeder (MM/HF magnetised) or a Vindicator.

Or maybe I should finish painting something first...

Thanks for looking!

Excellent work on the Death Company members. The Land Raider Proteus looks promising; will you add twin-linked heavy bolters?

Hey Bjorn, i wanted to add them to the cupola on top, but there's too much glue on there and it's not budging without damaging the model - it'll have to be used just as a Proteus - no assault ramp also makes it a hard sell as a Phobos.

Finishing off a sniper scout. This guy was one of my first models, purchased back in 1999 when I was starting out in the hobby and sniper scouts represented the cheapest way to get a second troop choice: scouts were

Can you use lahmian medium to help prevent chipping? Gotta try that.

Im in the process of painting my own scouts, both metal and plastic, for SW:A. Im gonna have to try to steal all i can from you. The mud looks especially good. Im gonna need to make a more gray'ish version since i have gray bases. Won't look as good as brown but im gonna try the same approatch.

Looking forward to see more :)

Steal away!

I'd read somewhere that lahmian is essentially a matte varnish - at any rate, it goes on clear, dries clear, and hopefully puts another barrier between greasy fingers and my paint scheme!

You could probably do a coat of gloss, then go over with lahmian to dull it down.

Really nice weather staining on that cloak.

I had one of those metal scouts back in the day (I seem to remember you could buy them individually then?). It was that model and the metal Furioso I used to help rehabilitate after nearly losing my hand.

Yours looks a lot better than mine did! :D

...after nearly losing my hand.

Bloody hell, I'd say the rehabilitation more than worked!

I figure it's about time I got a shot of most of my completed stuff from the past couple of years:

The Praetorian of Baal is completed. I may revisit it sometime to add more weathering or honour markings, but I'm happy to get it to a little beyond what I think is enough detail.

It's been fun doing this tank, and I'm glad to be shot of some of the old metal bitz I've been hoarding. Before you get any ideas, the'yre mine, all mine!

Do like <3

Although the autocannon makes it look like a Darlek...

Haha, I can see what you mean, it's that small turret and the rivets also? You might be onto something:

Predator Destructor = Autocannon

Predator Annihilator = Lascannons

Predator Infernus = Flamestorm / Magna Melta

Predator Executioner = Plasma Executioner

Predator Exterminator = Toilet plunger?

Your modeling and painting skills are excellent, but with so small a turret, you might as well claim that "Predator Destructor" is an autocannon-armed Razorback, and use it as a transport.

Haha, thanks! The razorback might be hard to get away with because of the giant lascannon sponsons. The turret is small because. Erm. Smaller target?

It was on odd design shift from the first plastic pred to this style. I think to emulate modern tanks.

Ok, been a while, between a new PS4 game and indecision about 8th, my painting has slowed a bit, but a while ago I finished the DC I've been working on, and also started and finished a Tornado, and some terms - pics of those to come later.

Now, the DC.

Sorry about some of the blur, phone cam and didn't see it on the small screen...

Thanks Bjorn!

So there's a lot of stuff that I finished, or have nearly finished and forgot to log, so photo dump time!

This model was pretty good fun to paint, although the finecast is what lets it down. The face detailing on mine was...poor, as you can see, and the thin sword hilt snapped on me....then I snapped on it and didnt do any work on the models for months.

I tried to stay as true as possible to the 2nd ed art, with a few things that tie it into my army. In game, he would normally never have been used as a captain, but 8th had made a bolter/fist captain acceptable, so we'll see. Most likely he'll go on to be a sergeant in the second company first squad (the knee pad).

Next up is Captain de Bossola (Renamed after the placeholder Castigon), Originally he was finished quickly for ETL last year, but I've gone back and added another highlight to the armour, and generally improved detailing, including an attempt at blending on the relic blade.

Next up, some Terminators. I made theye guys for the 7th ed Deathwatch codex where you could field individual terminators. A single guy with assault cannon was pretty tasty. Now thats changed, and deathwatch terms have to be in units of 5, with 3 heavs weapons. I'll probably split these into the 9th and 10th Terminator Devastator squads, each with 3 cannons and 3 launchers respectively. They're both awaiting a little more freehand, but are tabletop ready.

I've been working on some assault marines on and off for the past month or so, and this weekend finally decided to get them done - I was dithering over whether to stick on their meltas, when, fortuitously, the FAQ was released, allowing them to take them!

Pics to come, in the meantime, here's a pic or few of my finished Tornado, squad 1 of the 7th company. The heavy bolter/multimelta is pinned, and the asscan/flamer are magnetised. This current speeder kit is a dream to magnetise the lower weapon. The upper is still fiddly, with the narrow handgrip so I didnt.
