"So did Lemartes become the Guardian of the Lost, the warden of the Death Company. He has repaid Astorath's faith a thousand times over, for the Death Company have never been so potent a force as they have under his guidance, their modern glories eclipsing deeds of legend." Inspired by the "Today Khârn Killed..." thread in the Codex: CSM forum, let us chart the glories of the Death Company, and record the foes that they slay in the name of the Emperor and Sanguinius. For example, a game vs Astra Militarum my 10 Death company + Corbulo killed: 22 guardsmen including a platoon command squad Sanctioned Psyker 3 leman russes, including a Leman russ punisher with Pask (warlord) What have your death company achieved? I already have a Death Company unit holding up the power sword. So for this one I wanted him to be different. I had this nice death mask and decided to use it for something. So its a bolter arm and a death mask, and I wanted it to look like he ripped off the helm to yell to the troops but still held up the mask to strike fear into the hearts of his foes.-

I need to fix this up a bit still, I had one metal wing and one plastic wing. They had different angles to connect, so I cut down the plastic a hair..but still not perfect. I need to fill in the area at the top where the wings connect.-

All finished with a new Blood Angels Death Company Dreadnought! Really pleased with how the weathering and the power effect on the claws came out. Also super happy with the mag grapple conversion for the Stormraven so he can hitch a ride. 20210531_170046 by Stuart Barker, on Flickr 20210531_170103 by Stuart Barker, on Flickr 20210531_170122 by Stuart Barker, on Flickr 20210531_170206 by Stuart Barker, on Flickr 20210531_170137 by Stuart Barker, on Flickr

This is my Blood angels Army, it has served me well (with the possible exception of the Death Company who get shot to pieces before they can ever charge) It's also for sale on ebay as I need money to pay rent. Might start an imperial Guard or Tau army once I get my financial situation sorted.-

Sorry if it's been discussed before, but I went back a few pages and didn't see a topic like this. I'm a hobby hoarder and am finally using some of the myriad of Blood Angels parts I've acquired getting MkIV jump packs to make a successor chapter army to slot into my other random Imperial options. I'm thinking of going heavy Death Company mostly because I have absurd amounts of tacticals and common Marine units already, and they give me a chance to get fun with the color schemes. I also have a friend who plays them a ton and they seem fun to play with. That said, what are the best/fun Death Company loadouts? Jump packs seem nearly essential for the low cost. Are Bolter and Chainsword DC any good or usable? I have the parts for a decent squad of them, and could field them as either jump packs or in a rhino for something unorthodox. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated. Thank you, loyal sons of the IXth.

So let's start with a disclaimer... Although I have seen the leaked rules I haven't played a game of 8th Ed yet. What did strike me as interesting though was the changes to the DC. I understand that every power unit has been hit with the nerf bat for 8th ed, and DC were the closest we came to a power unit, but 2 attacks base (+1) on charge (and +1 moreally if armed with CS), and strength 4 makes them much less effective as infantry killers than they used to be. Also the classic combo of 1 PF and 1 PS per 5 models still holds water, but the PS hitting at strength after round 1 will make beating MEQ+1 and higher toughness units much more of a challenge. So does this create an opportunity for the Power Maul with them? Not something I historically armed them with, but +2 strength means landing wounds on even Death Gaurd on 3's not 4's in later rounds of close combat, and no -1 to hit as with PF / TH... So, are they suddenly worth looking at? Thoughts please frater!

Hey all. So with the release of the new Blood Angels Codex i was looking for something to base a new army on (I already have Lamenters, but they are Primaris only). I was tempted by vanilla Blood Angels, but after reading Devastation of Baal the Knights of Blood really started looking cool. Despite being wiped out, they still go out like any good Son of Sanguinius (Punching Khorne Daemons to death). They are a lot like the Flesh Tearers except they have embraced the Red Thirst and even have some control over the Black Rage which they do by going all in on their vampric tendencies. They prefer to attack the enemy up close with chainswords, blades instead of at long range. But it is their hidden secret that makes them appeal the most to me. Spoilers for Devastation of Baal: I've finished a 5 man tactical squad as a test for the scheme: The Sergeant: I've got a big Death Company squad next to paint as well as my conversion for the Knights of Blood Chapter Master Sentor Jool (Without his helmet).

Finally discovered the power of the Slamguinius
Zephaniah Adriyen posted a topic in + BLOOD ANGELS +
Whoooooo, boy. I built myself a WYSIWYG Slamguinius because I have a friend who just does not stop with the cheese. We're talking Drukhari aerial lists and such. Sooooo, I built a Slamguinius out of secondhand parts and - get this - bits given to me by said friend. He gave me a Thunder Hammer and a Jump Pack. Without me asking for anything specific, he gave me a Blood Angels Jump Pack with an Iron Halo on it. In other words, exactly what I needed. (On the off chance you read this, thank you, by the way. Big help.) Now to the good stuff. Chapter Master Slamguinius is exactly what he is: a Slamguinius. -1 army CP to give him Death Visions and some such points for a Storm Shield, which gives him the tankiest saves: 3+/3++/6+++, with 5 attacks. Give him a Thunder Hammer for lots of wounds and great AP, although you're paying for it in a point of WS and (get this) more than a whole Primaris Intercessor. Put a Librarian w/Jump Pack next to him (with Force Staff for helping melee) and cast Unleash Rage on the tanky lad for an extra attack. Feel free to use Smite or Blood Boil as your other spell for the turn to soften up the target or use Quickening to help the Librarian make the charge. Run a Sanguinary Priest with Jump Pack with him and use it to up his strength by 1 (giving his attacks Strength 10 because Thunder Hammers give x2 Strength and are essentially better Power Fists) and keep him up if he loses wounds by healing him. Priest can also take shots at the same target as the other two HQs. Slamguinius also adds 1 to his wound rolls on any turn where he charges or gets charged, which is nice. Tack on Artisan of War for an extra damage on his hammer and use your Relic slot for The Angel's Wing, which makes it so he NEVER takes Overwatch. Run them with a squad of Reivers for extra melee, run them in a Supreme Command separate from the main army, and boom, instant deepstrike death if you make your charges. Use to target backfield artillery, tanky Warlords or pretty much anything you need to delete in one turn, save 10+ wound Knight-equivalents (Lord of Skulls, Gorkanaut, etc). Although such a Knight drops in 2-3 turns with good dice anyway, so if you really want to tie up a Lord of War in melee, send in the Command Squad of Slamguinius. Edit: fixed how Strength is calculated. Also, have a Command Squad of Slamguinius list made by me around this idea. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355647-smash-squad/ Edit 2: fixed how Strength is calculated AGAIN. Also factored in a few things based on replies and the above thread.- 35 replies

Welcome to part one of the Blood Angels Unit of the Week Series! Following the release of the 9th edition Supplement, there is no better time to discuss all the units we have access to. Each week a different unit will appear, with the idea being that we discuss how best to use that model on the battlefield. Where part one will focus on the unique BA units and part two will focus on BA units that are new to this edition of the Codex, part three will discuss how to get the best use the generic units from the past that are still with us (and that many of us have in our armies still), and part four will discuss the Legends units that we still own and love. Finally, part five will be dedicated to the reinforcements from Forge World. Note, this isn't to lament any nerfs, etc, from previous editions; the rules are as they are so try to unlock its potential for those who wish to use them all the same. Similarly, this thread is only for using the option being discussed; it matters not if you feel something is a better choice as such comments aren't constructive to the topic and shall be removed. Without further ado, here's this week's entry: Death Company Dreadnought What are you thoughts here folks? How best would you use your DCD? To compliment a list, or to build a list around? Will the Chapter Approved changes affect your list(s)? What wargear choices are you favouring? Transport choices? How are you buffing this unit? Will it babysit anything? Stratagem synergy of note? Over to you. (Please note that any other pattern of Dreadnought will be discussed elsewhere)

Hi folks, figured I'd start a thread where I dump my WIP and finished pictures, rather than spamming the BA Today thread. First up is my WIP Astorath, which I've decided to do a little more golden than normal, the pictures show base coats and a single wash only, but so far I'm liking him. This is the first model I've used Vallejo Liquid Goild on and I highly recommend it. GW's golds have got nothing on this stuff, though I'm a bit miffed that I can't clean my brushes in plain water anymore. Anyways, here's the pictures (sorry for potato quality, mobile phone cameras are of the debil!)

Made a start on the Chaplain to lead the DC - no bling, just black, red and silver. Going to tone down the red though - far too bright for a Son of Cretacia :)

Howdy Y´all! Recently finished this Death Company Stormraven to go along with my Elite Death Company squad! This model sat on a shelf for years, just clothed in its black primer and it does feel good to have it done. I didn´t much care for the bubble turret so I swapped for a regular tank style pintIe. I did not realise how big ravens were! Hope you like!
