And all the Space Marine Heroes are done (bar the transfers and chapter badges...)

 

I'm only missing the 10th heavy flamer dude that never had a UK release (and couldn't be bothered hunting down the limited boxed game he came in) so just the 9 dudes. Captain Donato got gold armour because he's a boss, and I still have to decide whether to go with freehand unique chapter icons like my other terms or go with the heresy era chapter badges. Maybe the icond when I have some inspiration, plus a bit more detailing, but at this point I'd be happy to put them on a table.

 

 

 

I also wheeled out all my terminators for a 1st Co TDA shot,I do have some semi complete units since Ancients were ade their own thing (though are they back folded into units now?!) so I have a few additional models made to add to the THSS unit, and to supplement Victornos mixed THSS/LC unit.

I'd love to go back in time to when the bannermen were part of the squad. 

 

Gorgeous terminators, that gold one especially. Might steal that scheme as I love it.

Thanks! The gold is super simple, retributor spray, retributor pot paint overbrush, guilliman flesh recess shade, stormhost silver edge highlight. The silver is maybe a bit garish on the gold and it could do with a medium highlight. I tried liberator gold but it looked really flat. If I was thinking, I'd have done a chunky highlight of maybe 50/50 ret/stormhost first to make the transition smoother.

Painted another BA terminator last night. Bit different to the last ones though...yet he remains a brother worthy of detailing. This guy was actually Baal red contrast over white, with an evil sunz edge highlight.

I've been working on some cataphractii for a heresy BA force, it's been great to spend some time on models again and add details, something I've been doing via transfers with the alphas. BA have such an established visual identity it makes it easy, rather than the trickier alphas.

Quick Heresy update!

 

Mega hobby butterfly that I am, I tried to crack on with 3x BA projects at once! I started Zephon and the terms at the same time, then decided to respray this spartan which had been destined for my alphas. I got the terms to 90% there, minus some glazing, cracked on with zephon, got him to 50% and pushed on with the spartan. Realising this was silly, I reined myself in an focussed on Zephon to get him on the table. Really lovely model to paint, lots of texture and detail. Nt 100% sold on the rad grenade though. I lok forward to him leading units of assualt marines/sanguinary guard in games to give them the sweet sweet rad bonus. 

 

 

The spartan has been lying sprayed silver for over a year, and lacking the tools (airbrush) to do a job on the akhelian glaze i'd be happy with, I decided to make it BA. The alphas will still be able to use it anyway, and I'll make an AL gunner for the top cupola to push the theme. 

 

My first BA Cataphractii, ad what lovely models. I really pushed the gold here to bling them up, as well as white epaulettes and loincloths to make them as regal as possible. They're also completely magnetised (apart fro mthe asscan) so if I can make some shields and find some swords, they might stand in for Crimson Paladins. I added a bit more classic BA detail on the serge and asscan, and they still need transfers, basing and weathering. I was sorely tempted to go with a metallic scheme for the heresy BA, however the vhicles would be a pain and they wouldn't match my existing BA. As such, I want to maybe try and push my blending/glazing on the armour to make them pop a bit more, and make them maybe a deep crimson? So I've done 2 layers of highlights, I might knock them back with a BA contrast glaze, then hightlight again. I need to watch a tutorial or two on this.

Thank you! They came out really nicely, and were fun to paint - now I need to do another 5 to fill that spartan...

Yea, I'm surprised it wrked so well - there was a bit of fiddling around to the curved wings to fit to the flat plate with enough surface area to get the glue to hold, but after that, I chucked more glue in to moosh them together with a stronger bond.

After a quick emergency tot-up I can confirm I have 19 original death mask heads, 19 mk7 SG heads, and 15 sets of SG legs (and presumably torsos) so roughly 3 full SG kits worth of bits. 5-10 of these will be ear marked for a Dawnbreaker squad, leaving me not too many left...how would you best use them?

Out of curiosity, where did you get that assault cannon for the cataphractii terminator. I'm getting some NOS from a local guy and I really like the cannon over the Launcher.

Almost done with the the Predator Annihilator, I'd previously wanted to call it 'Sword of Damocles', but for some reason 'Spear of Telesto' is striking a chord...transfers, detailing and weathering to go!

I've had this old metal Vindicator for a few years, and had to comb eBay for a few lots to complete it, but inspiration struck and I knocked it out at the same time as my other tanks, love this little shooty chonker. At the moment it's got a gloss coat on, transfers next, then weathering, then we're done!
