While I'd like to fool myself into thinking 'It's not the size of your bitz box -- it's how you use it', as in life, I suppose size matters ohmy.png

On another forum, for another hobby, there was once a kitbashing contest that had $$$ stipulations, ie: Make xx using only xx dollars, with the point of it all being an economical kitbash. It would be hard to regulate something like that here considering the bitz market, but it sure would be interesting. Green Stuff masters would clean house.

Been a while but with the weather turning, I'm finding more time to throw at this hobby! I've wanted to tackle cents for a while now. The kits look like they have potential, but they're so stiff and awkward. I remember finding the codex art for them early and shopping up the comparison photo below:

Such a big difference from concept to reality, and not in a good way I think. Normally when GW shortens up on scale, it's not too too noticeable, but they really fell short here. The biggest thing to change in my opinion was to set the head in the shoulders by raising the back half of the torso up, so the head sits in like the art. For the pose, I drew up inspiration from The Hulk, specifically the statue below:

Still missing the crotch and ass covers. I extended the marine's legs, re-cut them, and reposed them. I cut the harness around the head apart and glued it downward to fit the new shape. Still need to greenstuff the waist, but I like where I'm headed smile.png

EDIT: Apologies for the amount of shots, but the lack of depth perception in the photos and with those damn siege drills being so long, it's really hard to get a good representation of what's going on in reality.

Hopefully that missing armor will help take care of how silly the wasp waist looks right now.  Aside from that, it's epic.  I still loathe the mega-mittens, but what are you gonna do :P

Things like this give me hope for the Centurion models :)

Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah, those Cents could have been so much more I feel if GW got the design right. Still fun to play with though :)

Paint Test Time! Yep, I actually painted something ohmy.pnglaugh.png.

PAINT:

First off, there's quite a few black space marine armys around, and two big ones in Iron Hands and Templars that use white as a secondary color, so I went for something a little more unique in highlighting to a blue grey instead of a white grey. A big factor in this was the spec ops, night operations feel it gives to the armor, so I'm happy I at least got that down. It's my first go at painting in a few years, and I'm excited to grow on the brushes. I've (tried to) followed SCC's painting guide tic for tac with a few color substitutions here and there.

MODEL:

For this guy, I wanted a neat armor mash-up that suggested ad hoc. I chopped off the cables on the Mk V legs for the reason that when I extended the legs, the cables looked really odd climbing up mid-thigh only. Some might find the Justarian helmet a little odd, but I love the story it suggests --fit for a veteran of Istvaan! I've also added the checkered knee pad, as it always suggested heresy era for me. Yes, this is a survivor! Which means I'm going heresy-era :) Just too hard to resist after biting into Massacre. Should be fun!

I'm not sure I've seen that helmet before. Did you make it yourself?

That's a helmet from the Justaerin Terminators without the topknot.  They fit power armored marines quite nicely and they come with the ball part molded onto the bottom of the helmet unlike the Cataphractii and Tartaros versions.

Thanks! I honestly hadn't the faintest clue that they were full helmets, and just assumed they were halfsies like Cat and Tart helmets. Now I'm wondering the the Deathshroud ones are full helmets too...

Thanks!

Thanks guys! The quarter pattern on the knee pad, SCC, denotes the honor of serving alongside his Primarch and the contingent of Custodes in the successful procurement of +++REDACTED+++ in the +++REDACTED+++. ;)

EDIT: The Deathshroud ones come with the balled neck too, Disruptor :)
