lhg033
since my last update in the hobby... I have built: 20 boyz 5 terminators 5 assault intercessors I am also mid way through 3 blade guard I've primed 10 or the orks, plus an already built warboss in mega armour - these will be for me to remind myself how I paint orks ready for the rest of armageddon When I picked up Armageddon I tripped and picked up some colour forge sprays so have tested those on the terminators and Assault intercessors - really nice colour and coverage though I missed a few recesses. What is most annoying is in my excitement/haste I forgot about the helmet colours for BA being different so these are currently red too/glued so I will have a fun time trying to repaint them without messing up the base coat on the rest of the model. The plan is a 500 ish point BA force using models I already have as a starting point. Captain (Armageddon) Terminators (Leviathan) Assault Intercessors (Indomitus) Blade Guard (Indomitus) I'm tempted to swap the captain out for the store anniversary captain with powerfist but it also appeals to me that this force is a bit of everything various 'big' boxes (trying to decide what to include from Dark imperium later out of what I have unbuilt) The Yncarne and Zoatibix 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/458/#findComment-6178715 Share on other sites
Lathe Biosas
Got my Custodes Combat Patrol ½ built.... yes, that means I have 3 models complete. But The World Cup was on, and I had Book of Boba Fett to rewatch. So I think I made pretty good progress. phoenix01
My son has been running a D&D group for about two years now and I've been feeding them every week for those two years, as well as giving them a place to play not only D&D but Battletech and of course Warhammer 40,000. Tonight, one of my son's friends gave me the Space Marine half of Armageddon as a thanks for the place and food and good memories. So that's what I did in the hobby today: accepted an amazing gift. MoriyaSchism
On 7/3/2026 at 4:48 PM, MoriyaSchism said: I learned that damaged goods from the web store are "a part of the standard Hobby work required to build the kit" according to a reply I got from Games Workshop's customer support. Bit of an update, after a week of back and forth emails I managed to get the damaged Land Speeder replaced. The rest of the damaged Marine bits weren't as severe and it's just a couple of nicks and dents. Just my luck that the stuff I really wanted got damaged while the Orks I probably won't ever get around to building arrived in perfect condition. roryokane
I think my next project might have to be to "Firstborn-ify" the new VanVets from the Armageddon box, along with the Chaplain (clip off the leg thrusters, swap out firstborn guns and heads, add firstborn jump packs). Slightly apprehensive, but I have a few weeks before I can get started, so gives me time to plan. Lathe Biosas
Today I learned that a resin Custodes Dreadnought I got as a birthday gift earlier this year, was a Chinese recast. The guy who bought it for me was talking yesterday to some of the other 40k hobbyists at the shop about all the stuff he bought from Chinese recasters. He talked about the quality, issues, price and then all the stuff he got on the cheap... that list included a Custodes Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought. Which is what he got me. Son of Rawl
Finished up my Gorgons. While I like the FW kit, they are noticeably smaller than the MK2. For anyone wondering, the arms and shoulder pads work very well with the current 40k Terminator kit. Evil Eye
TITHI have made a start on de-Primarising the Armageddon Space Marines. So far I've just done the Sergeant and grenadier, but I'm already liking the results. Both Marines had their knee flanges removed, ankles trimmed and backpacks replaced with 3D printed parts. The Sergeant's head is the Mk. VII from the set, the grenadier has a printed nogging. The Sergeant meanwhile has a printed boltgun whilst the grenadier's weapon is a Mk. VI boltgun with the grenade launcher from the boxset carefully sawn off and grafted to the side. You could absolutely do these conversions without 3D printing, for what it's worth, as long as you have suitable heads, backpacks and bolters to use. I'd just printed a lot of parts beforehand so I thought I might as well use them! I'm very happy with how they're looking, but I'm not sure whether to remove the Sarge's gorget. The basic Marines will be de-gorgeted but I think it sort of works for the Sergeant, mostly because of the tradition of Mk. 8 armour for Sergeants. When I saw the Sergeant from this box and the one from introductory set I just thought they looked perfect. I might keep ankle things on only one side of the leg armour (inside or outside, not decided yet) to represent a more complete Mark VIII suit. Still mulling over what to do with my all my parts. roryokane and Evil Eye 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/458/#findComment-6179616 Share on other sites

Lathe Biosas
Today my untreated ADD kicked in and I got to the Amazon.com checkout with Imperial Knights. Apparently, I like skew armies, where I am vastly outnumbered. In unrelated news, I bought Zulu on DVD for a dollar. lhg033
Sunday in the hobby.... I started painting some of the orks I have primed. I also did a few block bits on the test BA assault intercessor I managed to resist buying a baneblade for now (in part due to stock issues!... and ideally I need some other bits for my guard force first...) ...I might have bought a Stompa...
