YITH I visited a gameshop about 45 min - 2 hours away from home and picked up another Deathwatch Killteam box, a Thousand Sons box, some paints, a Farseer, and a Wave Serpent.  I might have spent more but their system had been down all day and they were only doing cash purchases and having to write everything down by hand.  Items without price stickers couldn't be sold.  Poor guys luckily it seems most people had been understanding but having once been in retail myself I know some people get really angry and rude when they can't make a purchase.  Honestly I'd gone there because they have Kromlech, Spellcrow, and some other 3rd party bits on hand and the few I wanted to pick up unfortunately were unmarked so I guess I'll just have to make another trip.

Then I sat in traffic for awhile to go to my FLGS to pick up Planetary Onslaught and Traitor Legions.

TITH I finally sit down and paint.

TITHI found the missing legplates for my third Custodian, so I can get back on track building the unit now. Also built my first ever Bloodletter! Not terribly impressed with the kit to be honest though. It's very difficult to figure out what body should get which pair of arms since they don't all fit together properly.

TITHI Started painting up my XIIIth legion Moritat, Continued working on my legion veteran tactical squad, Painted my legion champion, Mostly finished painting my cataphracti terminators (I've just got the eye lenses, sergeants face and the heavy flamers to finish off) and base coated my newly kit bashed legion Praevian to lead my vorax into battle.

Side note my spartan and the fire raptor had fun in the game and didn't fall victim due to nms:huh.:

Played a crawl across the board against a zombie horde mission.

Abaddon Brofisted Drago and Dante to win against the zombies.

it gets better, 8 necron overlords and 8 grey knight librarians were there to help, as well as Azrael, and a few other chapter masters. They all followed Abby's retinue's daemon landraider into the breach.

YITH I played my first actual game in about 2+ years, a HoR Kill Team game on an extremely bodged-together table featuring some Minotaurs against my Cousin's Dark Mechanicus. It ended up being pretty close, with both of us failing rolls to secure the objective until eventually the last AdMech chap was downed by extreme weight of Bolter fire.

The narrow dust-flats of Khit'xhen Taybul IV, scene of a tense confrontation between the Minotaurs and the plague-ridden cyborgs of a Dark-Mech warband. Both sought to control the anctient Terran Artifact, a vanilla-scented tea candle.

Very enjoyable but also a lesson that being out of the game for so long means referring to the rulebook almost constantly! Also, I need to start investing in scenery kits.

TITH I hope to start work building some Rubric Marines!

Tonight in the Hobby, I got settled in and ready to work on a heavy support squad....Then promptly ended up slicing open my thumb whilst cleaning up some Volkite Culverins. That sadly stopped my work on my Word Bearers for the night. *grumbles*

I'm right there with you. I didn't cut myself too badly, but I nicked both of my thumbs while trying to trim a toothpick down to clear some BluTac out of a bolter barrel.

Greetings

Two games tonight using a seven-strong assassin force at 1k. Not very practical but quick and reasonably fun.

First game was against dark eldar, getting one VP for each enemy unit destroyed. Blazing start resulting in four points in the first turn from two units, one of which was Warlord and the last First Blood. However, one Vindicaire failed to hit a Venom. Luck diminished rapidly with a couple of insta-kills, leading to a tense fifth turn victory as my last assassin, down to one wound, dodged an otherwise killing hit from a blaster after immobilising the remaining enemy vehicle.

Fun times!

Second game was against chaos. Maulerfiend locked the Culexus in combat. Thought charging it with two Eversors was clever. It made its invulnerable saves every time I bombed it, and it killed four of my guys in total. Wiped out.

Don't recommend the force in terms of effectiveness (especially when playing Maelstrom, of course) but good for speedy fights and to provoke unnecessary whingeing from opponents/bystanders.

Being on and of 40k for +10 years, always having played Imperial Fists I today got the Lysander mini for the first time.

A really nice addition to my collection.

Right on!

As I'm fleshing out a combined imperial fist and crimson fist force to ally to my black templars in a great "Dornian Crusade" I intend to get Lysander and Pedro myself!

In other TITH news, I continue to plow through my board inappropriate back log...

I built a genestealer from Deathstorm

And ponder a rapid paints scheme for the particular hoard army... I'm thinking a base color with a high contrast dry brushed highlight and a through wash... Basically a monochrome highcontrast paint job... then pick out complimentary color for some highpoint highlights like they did with the phodians...

Basically thanks to space hulk 3Rd ed, space hulk 4th ed, deathstorm, and overkill I have way to many bugs to paint in any detail just for visitors to play with and let me bolter... obviously the big ones will get special treatment, but the bolter fodder I would like to be able to finish 100 of em within a week of maybe 7 to 14 hours of paint time total... but be an improvable scheme suitable for the better guys..

YITHI Ordered captain lysander, castellan crowe, and a start painting space marines box the latter for my five year old nephew A: to stop him trying to paint mine when i'm not looking and B: to tick off my sis a bit:devil:

TITHI Played a 1850 game against a thousand sons and librarian (daemon summoning tigirius) conclave with Magnus total model count 9 warp charge 22

I fielded an ultramarine's cad with a nemesis strike force total model count 34 (19 gk 15 um) warp charge 10 or 11

The game ended turn 7 with one um scout sniper and magnus (down to 3 wounds) left on the table

Imperial victory by seven points

Things learned Magnus is a beast, lvl 5 combined with casting on a 2+ re(t)rolling ones is just nasty add in the siphon warp charge power to top up the charge pool and he just gets filthy:ohmy.:

Target prioritization is key shooting the right sorcerers first made the bloodthirster and great unclean one sitting off the table stay off the table :biggrin.:

Never get charged by a Daemon Primarch it's just not healthy
