Viridia
Lookin' good, Viridia! What gold are you using? And TITH I finally finished my veteran tac squad with all the WYSIWYG gubbins. Cheers! It's Burning Gold from Foundry Miniatures. I swear by a lot of their paints (thanks to being bigger than GW's, not much difference, if any, in the price, and that most colours come with a dark and light version for shading/highlighting) And the yellow on those veterans is amazing with the black on the backpack heat vents. Nice effect on the plasma gun and volkite charger, I always get envious of people who can paint glow effects like that. BitsHammer
Since I found my potato cam and finished my Gravis Captain, have some progress shots for my army: Also I now need to work out how to light these guys so the matte finish (which is needed to protect the weathering powder) so they're less shiny. As far as the Foundry Miniatures paints.... TITH I just ordered the Burning Gold triad. Not that I need any more flavors of gold or anymore paint, for that matter. Nice, rather subdued range. But..... must...not...order...more. Just saying...just saying...you'll probably end up buying more. They are a really good range and I love them for the flip-open lids. It's why I'm not keen on Army Painter or P3 personally. Semper Fortis
Oh gods I hope not. Most of the empty spots are paints out on my workbench. 'Nuff said?? Axineton
TITH I actually pretty much finished two more of the 5 man Deathwatch kill team I’ve been painting! Two more to go then done. Truly does look like cookies. Is that the Ancestral rolling pin from Green Stuff World? It is. I wasn't sold on it at first but after talking paint schemes with some friends I looked at it again and really liked the sample images they provided on their website. It sold me on the pin and I really like it. I prefer more of the 'tile' and less of the 'zodiac' so I will probably roll out a few more and just make toppers with those sections. I'll have a few of the really intricate ones in the mix to provide variety and spice up the team. Chaeron
TITH, the paints I needed for airbrushing arrived - so I can crack on with my Adeptus Titanicus Legio Mortis army! plastic_slug
I sprayed my Necron Kill Team with Leadbelcher, and am now waiting for them to try so I can get on with painting tomorrow. I also splurged and gave my arm a break and ordered a Typhoon paint mixer and a wooden paint rack. Almost by default, this thing will have to do a better job than my shaking does. MrZakalwe
YITH: I used my newly painted Cadian army in their first game (literally the first time they've left the house) and they won a tight 6-5 victory. Magos Takatus
TiTHI finished the remaining five Sicarian Infiltrators. I'm pleased with how quickly they were completed compared to the first five. Thankfully they blend in fairly well with the first five. I forgot how I painted some parts but managed to get them close enough that it's not noticeable. BitsHammer
I continue to make progress, though finding ways to make the transfers I've got work has been an interesting challenge. Namely because I can't write neatly enough to just fill in stuff: At this rate, it'll only be another week or so before I finish him. :P Semper Fortis, Emicus, Dosjetka and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/288/#findComment-5170667 Share on other sites
Axineton
TITH I’ve been assembling the promethium relay pipes. Nice and easy and only took 30 mins to assemble and glue. Weather permitting tomorrow I’ll prime them. Teetengee
So, it was last weekend, but I biked 16 miles each way with my skirmishpack and my rulebooks to play 40k for the first time in (almost?) a year. treadhead
@Teetengee Nice some physical exercise followed by some intellectual exercise YITHI Finished the plague marines from the second issue of warhammer conquest and the first strike box alongside the 6 plague zombies. TITHI frantically fixed the last elements of my deathwatch army in time for a game on Saturday, (the codex arrived a little quicker than i thought it would so the boys in sable clad are getting a field test) also painted 5 allarus custodes and an allarus shield captain in glorious gold and made a start on the other colours for the captain. It'll be a 2k game and I'll be fielding 51 models against orkses, thousands of orkses (ok not literally but when they get done mobbing up it feels like it ) My list features three 10 man kill teams, one 10 man primaris kill team, ven dread, blackstar, apothecary, Artemis, watch master and six bikers. Will let you folks know how it fares afterwards (and what i was up against) Teetengee 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/288/#findComment-5170887 Share on other sites
BitsHammer
So I've found that having my models lie on my bed seems to give me the best lighting and the least amount of glare from the matte: And now that I've finished this guy (this morning infact! I had to let the Astrogranite Debris dry completely before I could finish the model so he got to sit overnight) the next on the docket is me indulging in is my Redemptor....which should have been left in sub assemblies but that's me underestimating the layering of the parts on new Dreadnought when compared to the old ones. Daimyo-Phaeron Lenoch
YITHI finished my company standard bearer, this finally completing my 2nd company command squad after buying them *checks* two and a half years ago. Good lord. That’s one model every six months. (In my defense, I had lost the banner for several months and that was the only thing that wasn’t done. In any case, it’s done now and I can field the whole thing finally. TITHI worked on a skitarii/Necron warrior conversion, and did a little painting on wraiths. I also went into a panic after realizing armies on parade is this Saturday and I still have so much to do for it.
