Fantastic work again in your gs and pladticard work!:)

Gau8's on an A-10 are 18' long and carry 1,500 rounds... I love the idea but imagine a heretic throwing a combat knife near the housing and jamming your spinning spitter of caseless ammo;). Just me man. :)

Keep on rocking it

One of my favorite Green Stuff/plasticard workers on the boards returns! Those deathguard helmets may just be the best choice to replace the standard terminator helmet. Great looking model.

Here's to 2017 being one full of paint for the both of us :)

Cheers, guys.

Although it may not look like it, I did some more work on the Sicaran.

Mostly sanding to get the transitions from the bondo to the resin to be smoother, and more gap filling work where the body and the track sections meet. A few more little things to take care of it and paint shouldn't be too far off.

Whaaaaat?! You changed your iconic Avatar!?

Seriously though, great stuff. Your scultping work as awlays is top notch and very inspiring. The smoothness of the tank - even though I think it made the tank loose some of its Imperial/Astartes aesthetic - is amazing. I've also created an account on the other site so I can comment on the BB stuff there. One thing though: it seems like time has allowed gravity to do its awefull work on that amazing contemptor: the lengthened barrels have drooped a little and are slightly out of line - which with your attention to detail I'm sure you have already caught.

Good to see you back BCK, looked I've your blood bowl stuff, really good.

I love that contemptor can't wait to see it painted. Ages ago you built a Work Eater loyalist, did he ever get painted. I think I sent you out the decals for him.

Augs, that photo is from when I first finished the model for the conversion challenge and it's just the angle that makes it look off.

I change the avatars up every now and then, and without getting too off-topic, I thought Rogue One was the best Star Wars movie since the original three so it was an easy choice for this newest change.

Hydra, he started to get painted but I was doing such a horrible job on painting the flesh of his face, I never finished it.  :(

Alright, time to change gears 'cause I found the pieces of the other Macharius I was missing. Since this one was the worst of the two Machs and it's going to be even more work than the first one (Omnissiah help me), I don't think I'll be entering L&T due to how much time this thing is gonna take.

The metal replacement barrels I bought weren't quite as stubby as they looked on eBay, but it's still nothing like the length of the Vanquisher barrels.

They're a little droopy because they're just held in there with blutac at the moment, but I already like the look. :biggrin.:

Looking slick. I'm definitely a fan of that tapering barrel look, but I'm not sure if that exists here or is an optical illusion. Pretty rough looking cast! But you'll have fun. Tanks are so satisfying to model and paint.

That's exactly what I was going for, Ikka. Not only did the original barrels have really bad mold-slip lines on them that would have been nearly impossible to correct, but I just don't care for the 40k aesthetic of gun barrels with reinforcing strips and rivets on them.

I sat down earlier today to begin work on the Macharius, and I ended up just sitting there for close to an hour, looking at the awfulness of the casting errors on the track sections over and over and wondering what I could possibly do to fix it. Right now, I have no idea.

However, I did get a package in the mail today that helped lift my spirits.

Not sure about the type of beard yet, and I have a feeling that when I get to it, I will sculpt it once and then re-sculpt it at least two more times after.

I have definitely decided to replace the axe. The first reason, as I mentioned above is that I don't like the double-headed style. The second is that there were already way too many wolf head decorations on this guy, and it started to feel like a race car driver being sponsored by the Space Wolves. The third is that I felt like of all the primarchs, Russ would care the least about his weapon being blinged out, so I went with something more simple in my preferred bearded axe shape.

Very impressive. I'd much rather see the shield on his arm than the sword, and that bearded axe is killer. The curved hilt takes it from just good to great. A rune or two (simple, not over the top) on the head might be appropriate.

Maybe? Painting is still a far off consideration right now.

Yeah, like a lot of people, I always thought the sword Russ was portrayed with looked a bit too chaotic and/or demonic for my taste. Plus, an axe seems to fit the culture of Fenris better as it historically requires much less smithing skill to make and unlike a sword, can function as both a weapon and a work tool. I've seen curved handles on a lot of historical axes, but I haven't been able to find out if there was any mechanical advantage to it over a straight handle, but it looked cool. Any rune decorations will probably be painted on as I don't want to risk messing it up by trying to engrave something into it.

You could add a rune to the axe (which is looking great by the way), or you could scratch build a less gaudy shield to match the aesthetic of the new axe which would look kick ass IMO.

Funny you mention that because I was thinking of doing just that. I wouldn't say the shield is gaudy, but it is a little too 40k Space Wolf for me. It's also quite small, but I imagine that was so it could be included on his back and not completely obscure all the detail of his power pack and wolf skin cape. I'm considering making a larger shield more like the traditional Norse or viking style.

As for an update, I've done more refining on the shape of the axe and cutout.

I also reshaped the wolf skin cape with hot water to give it a better sense of movement, but I'll get pics of that later.

Some other changes I'm considering is removing Russ' hair and re-sculpting it primarily because there's practically no wiggle room with the position of his head and I don't being locked down into a pose like that. Another reason is because Russ is frequently shown with a topknot, like so.

But seriously, how much hair does this guy have?! That topknot would almost be a full head of hair for a normal person, plus the flowing locks in front, and then the 3 or 4 large braids from the back!

Also, note the proper viking style shield to the left, though I'm now wondering if that would be so large that it would obscure a lot of the front of the figure.
