Indeed. Some of things you do with your sculpting seems off-limits for most, Lorenzen. The Praetor is just stunning so far.

aim for the possimpable and nothing is off-limits!

thats enough HIMYM referencing for now.. cheers guys, when the model is complete i plan on whoring it out all over forge worlds facebook page and will show it to Sam too as per Kael and Ajax for his opinion.

anyhoo the lions face is about 90% done now, still some more maine to do and a bit of definition on the right side of the muzzle.. and his teeth.. okay maybe 80% done.. but ive done some more work to the overall model too, majority of the pelt is in place, though needs to be more defined and i've started work on the strap on his cloak (still needs the other side of it and a buckle.. potentially U shaped?)

anyway enough talking, super big picture time!

The cloak is the reason i ended up with this project, Rider was asking about over at The 1st Expedition and i offered my assistance as im not bad at making them.

bit more work on the mino's been figuring out a way to refine the paint process to my liking.

bad photo, but the 2nd termie is done in the newer method.

older method, after figuring out that my agrax earthshade was in fact my scenery wash.. and thusly changing to proper agrax to closer mimic dargors results

test model for newer method, bronze pops a lot more imho and i find it easier to work with.. not a drastic change (uses mainly the same paints, just quicker and less messy)

need to tidy up and finish all these models.. i have a really bad case of wandering mind when it comes to hobby stuff that isnt sculpting related.

Finished the sculpting on the terminator squad and got the base coat down on all of them now, really pleased with how they came out, each model is suitably individual and looks more like a 1st co veteran than just plain terminator armour would suggest.

Great posing. You make me like Tartaros way more than I ever thought possible.

I really gotta say though, if possible, the head of the guy on the left... it looks like he's broken his neck fitting his massive noggin into the armor and should consider spinal shortening surgery. ermm.gif

I think the issue is that the head isnt glued in place in that pic (i like to paint faces separate to the rest of the mini.. more control over things like pupils etc) and is sitting a little schewiff as it were. if when his head is glued in place, you still think he suffers from a broken neck then ill give him a bit of "surgery" :)

the tartaros termies are really nice for assault guys imho, they have a better sense of movement to them than the standard termie armour although i do think that straight out of the box they are a little plain for 1st company badasses (hence the added bling on mine)

The new bronze is looking superb chap, great tone to it. Would you mind sharing how you've done it?

If you could share your method for your bolter casings as well i'd really appreciate it, the method im using seems to take an age to do.

No problem, airbrush brass scorpion, zenithial highlight with runelord brass, gloss coat, wash with mig dark wash, broad highlights with runelord, edge with vma steel, then light purple glaze

The bolter cases are vmc burnt cadmium red then highlighted with a mix of brown rose and burnt cad, the yellow is flat flesh highlighted with bleached bone then the whole thing is washed with ogryn flesh.

After a bit of discussion with Dargor and my traditional hatred for my own painting i've reverted to the agrax earthshade and a slightly colder (and closer to Dargors) bronze colour.. paints are all the same, just minor differences in methodology and application.. reworked the sarge and did a new marine in the manner i will be doing the rest of the army from this point onwards (and altering some of the earlier marines to fit in with more closely if necessary)

theres a few things left to do to the sergeant before he's finished (gem, purity seals, crux and a little more shading) but i am happy with how theyre are looking and i feel much more comfortable with getting them done in this way.

the bases are shamelessly ripped off from Marius and his own Taurs in case anyone was wondering

we're our own worst critics.. im constantly looking at my own work and thinking "man i can  do better than that" but then i guess if we didnt we'd also never improve.

done a bit of work on big daddy moloc after deciding im happy with the dargor method of bronze (after much faffing and getting the application correct to get the result i wanted)

most of its just blocked in atm, only a few bits like the wing and the spears shaft (bar a coat of gloss varnish after the model gets a coat of satin) are close to done.. but its still progress

Absolutely beautiful work, Lorenzen, you've really nailed that bronze.

Blown away by your sculpting skills. I struggle sculpting basic shapes and have difficulty manipulating GS. :P

Looking forward to seeing Moloc finished and the progression with the army as a whole.

Cheers,

Mike.

Thanks dude, your own Taurs are looking good too!

bit more work on Moloc.. mainly the base which he's only pinned to atm, though the picture does give a better view of his spear shaft.

If you attatched it over the backpack under the vents i think it could work on a power armoured guy though i think it would take a little greenstuff to make it look like it wasnt just floating and actually attatched to the marine.
